Free dining is here for the Fall

Did you call to try and book the PIN? All of the free dining offers I've seen, PIN or general public offers, simply require that your vacation START on a date on which free dining is offered. The offer is good for the length of your stay (up to 14 days), even if the latter part of your vacation falls after the close of the offer.

My stay starts 3 days prior to the FD pin. They (Disney) had me book to separate packages. I am still trying to decide if it would be worth it to add this FD to the 3 prior days or change to RO and add two park days to 2nd package and just pay out of pocket for food??? Its never any easy decision.

Ahhh. Well, if Free Dining is the best discount for you, you might try booking one new package under the upcoming free dining offer, which covers your whole vacation, and cancel the split trip. That way, you don't have to pay for the first few days of tickets (the most expensive days) twice.

I have been hoping for some news to break on a deal for our dates. I'm taking DH for his first ever trip! We will doing DCL on the dream 7-10 then checking into CSR from 10-17. Might switch to FWL if a deal for hotel stays comes available. Never stayed at CSR... Unsure of it's largeness! LOL! Can someone just clarify as I've never done dinig plan, so if its the 11/11 and we check out the 17 we will get this for our stay from those nights, just not the 10th when we check in?

A room discount is rumored to be coming out on Aug 1 (possibly July 29 for Disney Visa/debit holders). No specifics on which dates will be covered, but hopefully it will help you. Good luck!

My fingers are crossed - I picked this week because I thought it'd have a good chance for free dining but looks like I guessed wrong I am really hoping for at least a room discount!

You're welcome! You can only use one discount per reservation, but if offered, you could get a room discount for the first night, and you could get FD for the package stay since they would be two separate reservations.

I'm disappointed too as my trip is 12/4 to 12/12. Thought I would get if I checked in on 12/4. However, since I am paying rack rates, I changed my reservation to LM standard room at AoA as I would never stay there if FD was offered since it is exempt. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Don't give up yet, keep a look out. We're going 11/30-12/8 to LM at AoA, but we're keeping a look out for some rumored room discounts for that time. Room discounts are way more of a value than FD. LM rooms are, however, likely exempt from that as well.

What are the usual offers for RO discounts?

We are booked 11/11-11/19 at Pop. 2 adults & 4 yr old who eats like a bird. Wondering if paying OOP for food (we have never done a CM because of cost but may do 1 this trip since he had his MAW/GKTW magic last time for his 1st trip to WDW (no lines) and we want to make sure he gets to see some of his favs again) would be more economical than getting FD if offered (realizing that the FD included is the QS plan).

Can someone help me out?

They will not automatically add FD, you have to call on Aug. 1 (or July 29 if you have a Disney debit or Visa) and ask to have it applied to your reservation. As for the plans, you have two options. Option 1: keep the free QSDP and pay OOP for your character meal and F! package OR Option 2: upgrade the free QSDP to the regular DDP for a fee of approx. $19 per night for adults and approx. $4 per night for kids 9 and under. Upgrading would give you more flexibility and allow you to make a few more ADRs if you want to. You would have to do the math to see which way would work best for you. Good luck!

Just remember that since you're checking in on the 28th & FD doesn't start until the 29th, you'll have to do a split stay. The first night will be a RO, and then you'll start your FD package on the 29th

I just booked our trip last night for Dec. 9-18 staying at POP. This is only our second trip so I don't know how things work. If free dining ends up being offered starting the 12th will we qualify for free dining the 12-18th or won't we get it at all?

You would have to split the reservation to get free dining for the 12th to 18th. First, you would need to do either a package or room only from 9th to 11th, then book a free dining package from 12th to the 18th. The issue is that the first 2 days of park tix are the most expensive and if paying for them twice, it won't be much savings. The way to save the most money, if you can't change your dates, would be to book room only reservation for the first 2 days and not buy the DDP for those days. Then book the free dining package with the amount of days on the tickets that you need. In the past, people have been able to pick up their park tickets a few days early. So, you could pick up your park tix on the 9th for the whole trip, then start the free dining package on the 12th. I know it's confusing, but that's how it goes in the world of DIS.

I am hoping you can help me clarify a few things please....

first we check in on 9/26 until 10/4 at POR with regular dining plan and park hopper tickets (already booked and paid for). then we found out the TOT weekend starts on 10/4 so we added 10/4 - 10/6 with quick service dining plan and park hopper tickets (already booked and paid for). two separate reservations.

if I already booked would I still be able to get the free dining? if so, do I just call disney or do I have to go through my travel agent. or am I totally out of luck? I believe if I qualify that it would be for the first trip only?
