How do you DVC'rs who are travelling during those times feel about this?

Disney Visa offer:

I have my ADRs, too. I wonder how crowded the parks will be?

was just there during the last promo in august, of course mine was not free, and based on the previous two years, the park was dead. so dont worry about it. also walked up and made ressies during that time.

I would be worried if I were a guide.
The free dining essentially compensates for the price premium that cash guests pay for rooms over DVC. It will be harder to sell DVC to rational guests. Especially ones that considered DVC during the very popular F&W and Christmas seasons, because now you essentially get the same discount through CRO and you are not fighting as much for DVC availability.

As an existing owner that can go yearly (twice within an AP) I am not too worried, I am still think I am getting a better value than "free dining"

The every other year DVC'ers might be worried as Disney has now essentially admitted they are charging way too much for MYW passes and DDP. "I'm Disney World, And I charge my guests way too much"

When the economy is struggling, DVC owners wring their hands over "codes" for cheap rooms, great promotions, free dining, etc.

When the economy is good, Non-DVC owners wring their hands over the lack of "codes", cheap rooms, great promotions, free dining, etc.

Frankly, one of the reasons we bought DVC was to quit worrying about any of that stuff.

The only impact is, as noted, that it is more and more critical to get ADR's before going to WDW if you have your heart set on eating in certain locations on certain dates. We find ourselves eating off-site more due to the crowding of WDW restaurants. Of course, the parks will be more crowded too but for all of us, a financially healthy Disney World is a good thing in the long run.

So if I were travelling during those dates, it wouldn't bother me. Not sure what the "how would you feel" question is getting at?

I wasn't trying to be cryptic, it was just a simple question. I was wondering, is anybody happy about it- because they will now take advantage of the offer & save some points, or at least move for 3 nights to get the ofer and save weekend points. OR are you bummed because what FREE DINING did to September (made it busier & harder to get adrs) it will now do to December, etc...

All I know is that I am glad I have my dining reservations already
Same here.
AND I'm glad that it isn't during the time we will be there in October or December!

Doesn't affect us, and we have no desire to stay in a Value Resort. Call us spoiled I guess, LOLOL!!

We are going to be there from 12/13-19. ADR's have been set for months now. I hope it doesnt cause too much of a crowd increase.

Okay, I get it. When you asked how people feel about it, I read it as should we feel upset? As I said, I like the idea of a relatively full WDW all year around. It keeps Disney motivated to keep investing in the parks rather than fighting heavy seasonality issues.

I for one am hoping they offer free dining when I go next August- after seeing this offer I think there may be a chance. If they do offer it I will "POP" over to "POP" for a Fri., Sat., and Sun. night stay during my 2 week trip. I will save 161 points by doing that!
We'll strap our feedbags on for the weekend! Do more in-room cooking while we are in our villa.

I think that since this offer has been made so late in the game it should not effect most of the dining reservations. Most people that were booked prior to the offer have made their reservations a while ago, I know that I did.
I also wonder since there is short notice will it really have a large impact on the parks.

Im just back and I can honestly say, the crowds were low! Pop was busy, but BWV was tranquil. We were only supposed to stay at BWV 1 night after our cruise and then move to Pop for Free Dining.

We checked into Pop, went to the food court for breakfast, it was busy, loud, and sticky! After 15 nights on DCL, I was not ready for Pop!:rotfl: I called MS and extended our 1 bed stan view room for the rest of the week and didnt look back!

So I will be back in October for F&WF and I already have our ADR's and BCV so I am not worried:wizard:

First I think we need to look at the offer - it is for Disney Rewards members - look in upper left corner of the offer. These come solely to those who hold Disney Visas and get the special reward offers with it. Unlike the Free Dining in August which is for anyone.

DVC is about prepaid vacations, the rooms, locations of gorgeous resorts, amenities, kitchens/kitchenettes, washer/dryers, jacquzzi tubs, no commando park touring, relaxing.....and going back as much as possible. Free dining is very nice, but I want my DVC:thumbsup2
