Free dining has restored the magic for DH

We just got back from the world with free dining. My DH has not been back to DW since 12/03. The kids and I have been down with other family members 10/04 and 5/05. We would not be back this time except for the free dining. I still had to drag him kicking and screaming. He calls me the Disney nut and complains about how much time I spend on these boards. Don’t get me wrong, once we are down there, he has fun and enjoys the trip. He still complains about spending money and time spent trying to see everything in the parks.

This time was different. Since me and the kids had been down so often, we did not feel the need to go to every attraction. We did a couple tours and spent more time relaxing at Water Park and resort. Not to mention dining at some better places such as YSH and Narcoosees. I will post a separate dining report but wanted to make this point!!!! Thank you Disney for making my DH a believer again. He now encourages me to be on the boards and wants me to find another great deal for our next trip.

:rotfl: I could have written this post about my own DH! We got back a week ago and he LOVED the free dining. He even enjoyed our itty bitty room at Pop Century.

At one point my husband pointed out another male handing his card over at a CS. The guy had a big smile on his face. MY DH laughed and said another happy guy using his free dining card. My DH also splurged on gifts without complaining as usual.

I am that man. Any of those described.

I can't wait to eat Le Cellier on Disney's dime. Something about that y chromosome.

We didn't have a man on our trip but I saw lots of happy men eating for free. You could tell the "free diners" because it was like that card was magic; it created an instant huge grin. It was like a simple equation ... Man + steak + free = happy. I'm sure my dad would have loved it, but my parents didn't go on this trip. I'm glad this renewed your DH's pixie dust feelings.

Help!! What free dining I am going 10/2 and haven't heard a word. I am a newbie to this board (about 2 weeks) I love it. Am I too late? liammom :cool1:

Unfortunately you are too late.

The free dining package had to be booked by Aug 20th. It's for stays between Aug. 21st and Oct 4th. You have to pay rack rate for the room, buy tickets and you get free dining.

I can relate here. One of the best thing at the world is the food. I did not plan on going again till 2006 and we had plans for Hawaii. Then I got a e-mail... The one thing that they could do the lure me back this year was free food! My wife was not happy. But we turned into a Grand Gathering and now we have 11 people (all her side of family) going with free food! Trying the get ADR for 11 at all the places we want to eat is the hard part! My wife is now happy! :earsgirl:

Add my husband to the list of happy men! :goodvibes He loved the free dining and still talks about it. Our bill at Yachtsman's Steakhouse came to over $300. He just loved that one. ;)

I hope Disney offers this again. It is well worth going to Disney when your getting free food. I'm not a fan of the food but when it's free it tastes alot better.

What is the catch in "free" dining? Do you pay a much higher hotel rate?

Yes you had to:

1. Pay rack rate for your WDW resort accomodations (no Swan/Dolphin/or not good for DVC Members staying on points)

2. Purchase at least one days worth of admission (everyones admission had to be the same number of days, etc).

3. Book by August 20 for stays from August 21-Oct 4.

4. Also because it was a package deal it needed to be paid for ahead of time 45 days in advance or immeditaly if you were closer than 45 days.

5. the plan allows each person on the resservation to 1 table service, 1 counter service, and 1 snack for each night of the stay.

You pay the rack rate for the package. A very good deal. You get 1 counter service, 1 table service and 1 "snack" per nights stay for each person in your party.

I can relate to this, too. My DH still refers to a trip we took in 1987 as the best trip we ever had, because we bought a deluxe package that included meals, and he never had to pull out his wallet. We've taken a dozen or so trips since then, but that's the one he remembers most fondly.

Welcome to the boards. :cheer2: You have a great communitee in Houston! Texas has lots of praise with the help your state has come through with. My thoughts are contantly with he people of the gulf and what your town has done for the country.

When did you make your reservations? Before August 21? Do you have a package? Did you get the dining plan? If so, it wouldn't hurt to call.

My sister made her reserv. pkg in June for end of september stay. No one told her about the free dining plan. I read about it in August, told my sister about it. She called Disney explained how she had not been informed about this special when she made her reserv. and CM was able to give it to her. They deducted $700+ from her total bill! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Add my DH to the list of pleased males. He never would spend the money to eat TS meals and more often than not we eat peanut butter sandwiches in the room. FREE FOOD was GREAT!!!!

Thanks, Disney Dad. It was the least we could do. I only hope as many of their pets as possible can be rescued now.
I enjoy these forums very much, and have actually been lurking here for several months while planning our next Disney vacation. Free dining will be awesome!
