Free dining, FPs and AP upgrade

I couldn’t find a post on this so hoping someone may know. Here’s my situation -
I’ve booked a trip for this year at CBR with free dining for for 11 nights. We are planning to spend 12 days at the parks but could only purchase the max 10 day park hopper. We plan on upgrading to an AP so we’ll have tickets for the other two days and will be planning another trip next year.

Do I have to wait until we check in/arrive to upgrade to the AP?

If so, once our 60 day fp window opens will we only be able to reserve our fast passes for 10 out of the 12 days and then have to wait until we arrive to book FPs for the other two days using our annual pass? Is there any way around this? Concerned since we are going over the holidays so not sure there will be much FPs available the week of our trip. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure on the 1st part of your question ( when can you upgrade to AP ) but as far as the the FPs I can answer that one. When you go to do your FPs it will look at all your dates. We are staying 11 nights in September with an 8 day PH. I could have done FPs for all 12 days if I had wanted to. ( I just did these this morning ).

You can only book FPs for the total number of tickets entitlements that you have. The window gave you the opportunity to book 8 days of FPs within that 12 day period.

If you are unable to upgrade to AP prior to arrival, book your 10 highest priority FP days and then add on the others as soon as you upgrade to AP.
