Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

Hello! I've been lurking for several days even though our week will probably be excluded in Free Dining. This is only tangentially related to this thread, but this thread has kind of gone everywhere now. So listen to this.

A month or so ago, we thought we were going the first week in October, so I started running the numbers at different resorts. Well, at a huge number of deluxe resorts (almost all of them...I have a list somewhere) there were zero standard, garden, pool, preferred, etc. rooms left. Absolutely zero. And really, I think it was all the deluxe resorts and some of the villas. The only rooms left were the suites.

I chatted with Disney and they said to clear my cache and try again, which I did. Still no rooms. Then they said it's a popular week because of the Not-So-Scary Halloween and the Food & Wine Festival.

I just don't believe that every single Deluxe Hotel could already be full. They must be holding the rooms for something, don't you think? It's all weird. I haven't tried recently because our trip got moved to the second week in October. But I thought it was very curious.

I think it's possible they are full. The deluxe resorts don't have as much capacity as the other resorts, and BC/YC and Poly are renovating right now. We booked YC several months ago, and our TA said there weren't very many rooms left then.

They'll just verify your card number if you previously put the deposit on it.

You only need to make a DV payment if you haven't on the reservation already.

Our trip was booked thru a TA, but I know what I'm doing as soon as I get up in the morning...checking this thread!

The *room only* only refers to the discount not the package, You can book it as room only or add any features you want and make it a package, but the 30% off applies only to the room portion.

I'm so glad you explained this--I thought it meant I'd have to cancel my package and get just a room reservation and then re-add things in later. Are there typically blackout dates for room only discounts, similar to free dining or are those discounts more inclusive?

So is there any possibility general public might have free dining tomorrow? I'm thinking of having a few alarms set just in case. One for online adjustments and one for calling on the phone. I'm having a hard time keeping up!

I'm guessing this is a no, but my brother and I have separate bookings, I wouldn't be able to use my card to add it to both reservations would I? He doesn't have the visa.

I just went and looked again and my "modify" has now been added to my MDE. I guess it is just slow going for some of us.

MDE or Disney.com?? I don't see anything on the MDE at all for cancel or modify, but on the Disney.com site, I see the cancel only.

I feel convinced that the DDP will come out tomorrow, and I'm to a point where I'm not sure how to handle myself if it isn't released tomorrow LOL

but hopes up because either way disney always releases some kind of deal every season. so either way I'll get some kinda deal.

Here's a random thought on the whole process. Online I can order from the disney store and I can get a discount with my disney visa. You enter the coupon coded and use your disney visa so the computer sysytem is recognizing you used a disney visa. So I think it could be possible for disney reservations to (hopefully soon like tomorrow) be able to recognize when you use your disney visa if you are going after the dv promo.

I have a room booked through a TA with deposit only and do not have a cancel button either. I'm thinking it only shows up if u book through Disney!

That could be, too. I booked through the Disney website and I double checked this morning to see if the modify option was still there. It was, and appears to be working fine. It's weird how it works for some and not others.

Breaking news....inside info states that GP offer will go live tomorrow. Originally rumored dates and excluded resorts are correct as well as the requirement to have PH or water parks and more.

Still working for more info but this is from a trusted inside source.

Room only also has black out dates, but usually less than FD.

I must admit I'm happy and sad we used a TA.

HAPPY: I don't have to sit on hold on the phone or try to go online and hope the site doesn't go down.

SAD: I feel like I don't have control. (I don't, she does)

We booked POP and upgraded to plus dining. I told her if economical, we could go to a moderate. Not sure if it behooves my family of 4.

Mid September through early October is a big time for conventions. I know my company takes over the Swan and Dolphin for 5 days late September. My host travel agency is also at the Contemporary this year 09/24 - 09/27. Many other companies buy out the Yacht Club / Beach Club / Coronado because of its meeting space. Standard room in a deluxe during this time is hard to come by unless you book really early. AKL and WL typically have standard because their convention space is almost non existent.
