Free Dining Extension ~ Oct-Dec

Hi, normally I just read & don't really respond. However, I had a strange conversation w a CM Monday pm. We are booked for 11/26-12/1, but I thought I may change dates to 23rd in case of free dining. So I called to ask a few questions & the CM asked if I had a pin, I answered no. She said well I have some here I can try if you want to see if dates would qualify for FD. I said sure!!! I have never heard of cm's having random pins. Is that normal??? Surprisingly (sarcasm) the pin didn't work. She told me to keep watching mail. She also said if I check in on the 23rd, since that's the last day of FD, I could only have FD that 1 day???? Is that true? From other things I've read, I thought I had up to 14 days?? Just looking for a few answers to clarify what the cm said & to decide on dates. Thanks.

Seems that they are doing this more and more if people call and are polite about it.

However she was wrong about the last item. Of you check in the last day of the offer, you get free dining for your entire stay.

The FD offer goes by your check in date. As long as your check in date is within the FD offer dates, you will get FD for all of your stay up to 14 days.
The RO discount, however, only applies for the dates of your stay that are within the offer date range.
Gee, imagine my surprise that a CM gave out some incorrect information (yeah, sarcasm there, too)

When I called on mothers day to see if I had a pin attached to my acct, the cm I had was super friendly. She said hold on and let me see if I can find a pin...and she did. When I called the week prior the cm I had didn't find anything. And I've never received an email or mailing. I'm a Disney visa card holder too and never received an email from them. Maybe they get alloted a certain amount of pins they can choose to give out per day? And if your lucky enough to get a cm who's willing to do a little legwork, you get fd for your trip? Just a thought on how it might work.....Maybe lol

I called WDW earlier this week because I thought I got an email code but turns out I didn't. Never told the CM my name (guess I should have lol) the CM said that a discount offer just ended on the 14th and there could be a new offer coming out soon. I sure hope he is right lol. We love FD in December.

I don't think it will be for fd. It seems a little too early for that. And since the other fd for September has not ended yet I think we will have to wait a bit longer.

I was digging around and found that in 2011 aug/ sept free dining offer expired 8/27, but dates up until december were added on 8/03, so maybe we still have hope that dates will be extended prior to the expiration of this deal. Fingers crossed. I would love to have an answer before august.

You and me both! If our dates aren't covered for fd we will have to go off-site which will really disappoint me (this is to be our first on-site stay). The waiting is always the hard part - I don't think Clairol will cover all the gray hairs I'm getting :rotfl2:

In the past, offers have been given in this order: bounce back, PIN, Disney visa, public offer. Dates for the most part stayed the same.

Years ago, FD would start in the third week in August for fall and go all the way till Dec 22. But last two years, this was shortened. FD would not start until September, and would end around Dec 15th.

This year's PIN starts in Sept but does go all the way till Dec 22nd. More than likely, this will be the same offer that goes to the general public in July.

In fact, last two years had room only offers for the last two weeks of August. I have a feeling that it's a similar effect than NJ Week. Most of the northern states do not start classes until September. Most summer camps end in the third week of August. Hence, many decide on summer vacations in the last week.

I've even noticed DCL prices have gone up in the third week in August from years past.

This is just my 2cents... Would be nice if FD does start in mid August, but seriously doubt it.

Sorry I must have worded my post badly. I am going in November, just hoping they release the free promotion for late fall earlier than August. Not looking for August free dining.

I have a couple questions:

1st--Does anyone know if 60s buildings at POP with lakeview is considered preferred?

2nd--did ticket prices in fact go up this month? I'm being told they did by a CM--four day base increased $98

3rd--is there a possible room rate increase coming up?

Ticket prices increased, but I don't think by as much as you say. From my estimate our 10 day hoppers went up by $25 or so. Maybe I am figuring wrong! Room rates increase will not take effect unless you are booking for 2014.

I think it was like 3%?....for 2 adults 1 child 6 day park hoppers we will need to pay around $60 more if we end up getting a promo...

I'm gonna price this online maybe tonight. I think she told me an inflated price, which was discouraging!

Can someone help me? I got a free dining pin code at the end of May. It's for August-December, select dates. I have been checking the dates I wanted & they were available. So tongiht I went to check again & it says no value resorts are available for this time (1st of Dec). So, I tried changing the dates around a little & still nothing available. This hasn't gone public yet so I'm wondering if they are really booked up or if I should call. I'm so bummed if it is the case!

I don't believe so. Preferred refers to the room location (closest to classic Hall), not view. I believe the lake rooms are considered standard rooms since they are the farthest to Classic Hall.

There's some great info and pics of room locations at POP over on the POP resort thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3000350&highlight=pop Go to post #2 in the thread and click on the "Refer to Pop Century 2012 Map" link for a pic of the room type locations for each building. If that's not clear, try asking on that thread. Someone there will know for sure.

Highly recommend calling; especially if you are seriously considering going. It is odd that no rooms were showing availability, as I was checking same dates two days ago too, they could have just been updating computers. However, there are only a select number of rooms available under the PIN and the longer you wait the less likely there may be the room of your choice. Have to call to book under the PIN anyway, and availability online does not reflect PIN availability.

It's been my understanding (and experience) that you can book online with a PIN. Typically the PIN mailings include a web address to visit where you can enter the PIN, look up packages, and then reserve. Doesn't mean you can't call, but I don't think you're limited to only calling. (If you need to change an existing reservation to apply a PIN, then you would need to call.)

On the other hand, I agree with the advice to call and double check on availability if things look weird online, even if you are using options online tied to a PIN code.

Yes, I believe that was true, but with the new system (may be able to still do on old site) you can not per Disney; I asked when I had CM on phone. I have the PIN and there is no web address, it states specifically to call Disney (gave # just for PIN's) or your TA. :upsidedow

Edit: Seems like they would want to keep things simpler; sometimes question their computer changes...haha
