You will love it there I really enjoyed it in May. Didn't have a savannah room but TBH we didn't end up in the room enough to have really warranted the extra spend. There are lots of places to see the animals. It is a very beautiful resort. Enjoy
I really enjoyed AKL. But no where near as much as Beach Club, which is identical other than theming to Yacht Club so in your position I wouldn't swap. The Yacht and Beach Club pool is outstanding, the Boardwalk is fun, there are a whole range of TS places to eat on your door step and at Epcot and you can walk to Epcot and DHS. I did really love AKL it is beautiful for sure, but wouldn't choose it over Yacht or Beach Club. We went there last trip because I didn't want to pay as much as the Epcot or monorail resorts costs as it was just a short 9 night trip for me and my daughter only.
As for the DVC pool at AKL that was the greatest disappointment of our trip. Very average to poor pool. My DD was too old for the splash area but that did look great fun for kids of the right age.
i adore the yacht club - much much much nicer than AKL in my opinion...
of course, there are no animals, so if animals are a must for you that's different..
but otherwise, i much prefer YC...the pool is outstanding, the location is superb, and the rooms are much bigger than at AKL....
as for YC vs BC, i prefer the YC for two reasons....i prefer the decor of the YC and also all rooms at the YC have balconies unlike the BC (where some rooms don't)
I know in my logical mind that we will probably love YC even more than AKL, particularly as we spend a lot of our evenings at the WS at Epcot so location wise it's perfect. We just have some great memories of AKL so it's tempting to go back.
YC looks beautiful though so thank you for making me come to my senses!! Haha

walking or taking a boat to EPCOT or DHS is priceless IMHO.
I like AKL, but it has one drawback. It's in a "remote" location. Well, it's not out of reach either, but comparing to other deluxes it's quite far away.
Monorail Resorts are close to MK and are on the monorail loop, so going around is easy.
Epcot resorts are conviniently located between DHS and EPCOT, and DTD resorts are close to ... DTD... obviously, lol
but AKL means spending at least 15 minutes on a bus or riding the car to go anywhere, even to eat at another resort hotel.
Other than that AKL is a gorgeous hotel. But it would have been close to perfection if it had not been so isolated.
And about YC/BC, Stormalong bay alone wins the cake.
