Is it my imagination or are the dates offered for free dining this year less than the past couple of years? Didn't it start earlier last summer (around Aug 14th) and I could swear a couple summers ago it went until Sept 30.
The only part that was shortened was the promotion released to the general public. The free dining that was released to the UK folks and the bounce back folks was pretty much the same timeframe. It's only because this year there were two previous promotion released before the promotion for the general public. Since the first two promotions were successful enough to fill earlier weeks of August and later week of September, those timeframes were not released to the GP because there was no need to. So for the GP folks, they are all trying to get rooms within a 4 week period. I think Disney will be looking at a busy September this year.
The UK folks and the bounce-back folks actually had different time periods too. From the Dining Plan FAQ:
The free dining promotion applies for arrivals starting August 5 (for the bounce-back offer) or August 12 (for the UK/European offer), through September 29, 2007.
