If you're on the free dining plan and you want to order extras (ex. beer, appitizer) is it easier to pay these extras with cash at the end of the meal or to charge it to our room card?

either way is fine and easy. If you don't want to carry cash and you know you'll be adding onto your free meal then this is one way to put the tip (plus extras) on your room charge.

I think it's important to remember that the dining plan is the dining plan whether you pay for it or get it free during certain times of the year. The rules don't really change.

But to answer your question, when using the DDP credit at a table service meal, you'll be given 2 receipts- 1 for your DDP credits to be deducted from your card and the other will have any out of pocket expenses itemized on it. You can either pay cash for the OOP expenses and tip or you can charge them back to your room.

Went in June and paid for the extras and tips in cash with no problem, just lots of receipts to sign, in Sept we are thinking of maybe charging. But keep an eye on the extras they may already add a 18% tip to that and you maybe tipping on the total and be tipping twice on the extras.

Thank you!
I didn't know if they gave you seperate receipts or not. I think we might just charge everything to our room. I've heard other people talk about it taking forever to pay their bill because of the back and forth of the receipts. I can imagine it seems like forever when you want to get back out into the parks!

i kind of just want to clarify what was said above, i have the dxddp for my trip in two weeks. when i order drinks for dinner ill be getting a check that will have the drnks on it and a line to add the tip-both of which i can pay in cash-correct? and then the second recpt will just show the dining credits deducted. is it best to tell them at the start of the dinner that ill be paying cash for drinks and tip so they are aware? i dont plan on having a KTTW charging priv. anyways ...this all just seems very confusing
