I just read on another message board that standard rooms at POFQ are not part of the free dining offer. Is that true? If so, what is the least expensive type of room that does qualify for fd?? Thanks!

I don't know if that's true or not, but the cheapest room for free dining would be a value resort room, not a moderate.

Sorry...I meant at POFQ. We have always stayed at values for FD but this year we want to try out POFQ. Didn't mean to confuse!

I just went thru the disney website and read the exclusions (ie LM at AoA) and can't find anywhere it says standard rooms at POFQ are excluded.

Just wondering if anyone knows firsthand. Thanks!

As far as I'm aware the cheapest room at POFQ (and the only one on our dates) was Garden View. That's a moderate resort though so if you truly want to go cheaper, stay value and if you want you can upgrade from quick service to regular dining plan. Still cheaper than a mod.

I just booked a standard room at POFQ so I know they offer them.

Like I mentioned before, we have always stayed at values w/ FD and know that it will cost a bit more than just upgrading the dining plan but we want to stay at POFQ. Not trying to find the cheapest room at WDW but rather at POFQ w/ FD discount. Sorry my first post was obviously confusing! Ha!

Nice! Glad to see that you got what you wanted. Our dates we couldn't get standard anyway, so it's nice to see someone did :wave2:

Thanks but we haven't got it for sure yet. I booked the room package but I am holding out for free dining in January. So, if they don't honor standard rooms, I guess I'll upgrade to garden view.

Hoping someone will tell me it ain't so! HA!

not true, there were some rooms available for the week I was looking at (mid Nov.) but they have since been reserved. The rooms available were propably very limited. Also, POFQ is a very popular resort so there may not have been rooms available (already reserved at regular rate) during certain weeks.

As for what room types, it really depends on when you visit and how busy that resort is on those dates. FD is to fill rooms, so if a resort is already filled to acceptable capacity, there is no reason to include that room type (or resort) for FD for those days.

I was worried about that. I already booked a regular package. I have never booked before FD came out for our trip period but for some reason, I did this year. I worry that if I did this and others do that, then maybe they won't offer fd in January when I'm there. I almost cancelled my ressie the other day but then dh said no...he said keep it.

I am watching the threads very carefully right now and my emails too b/c I have a Disney visa. I am hoping to get first dibs on standard room that way...maybe! :confused3

I know some DIS members disagree, but I think you did the right thing. If you really want to stay at POFQ, then it's better to book something now. That way you can decide later, (if FD comes out) if it's worth changing resorts, or staying where you are. The others posters make a good point, the garden rooms are only $10 more per night, so hopefully it won't break the bank for you.

We were booked at POFQ Garden View and couldn't get FD this year (we're going Oct 20 - Nov 2), so we ended up changing to CBR.

My TA said she was told by Disney that only a few POFQ rooms were part of the FD promotion. We're just happy we can go...so no worries here.

Congrats to those of you who got POFQ and FD!

I booked a standard room at POFQ with Free Dining for the first week of September. Of course, I booked back in March and about a week later the only thing left was garden view with FD.

If they tell you POFQ Standard is not available for FD the day it comes out - keep checking - many people will change resorts or room types to get FD leaving the standard rooms open and sometimes Disney will then add them to the FD list. This has happened to several people here on the DIS - couldn't get FD for their room type or resort on the first day but the day after (or a few days later), it becomes available because of all the switches made to get the discount. :)

POFQ is such a small resort that it's sometimes difficult to get a specific discount there and if rooms are offered they may be very limited in supply. This is especially true since they remodel they did a little over a year ago. For example when I was at WDW this past Dec the room only bounceback deal was being offered. I booked three different bounce back deals for 2012. I wanted POFQ for my May trip, but could not get it even if I switched my trip up or back a week, so had to go with CSR. I was able to get POFQ under the bounceback for both my upcoming Sept and Oct/Nov trips. However I was planning on switching to the AP discount when it came out, because the AP discount will usually beat the bounceback. When the AP discounts came out a couple of weeks ago, no rooms at POFQ were included.:furious: I used the AP discount and switched over to AKL. I had thought about switching to WL, but WL was also not included under the AP discount for my dates, even though I called the very first morning AP discounts were released to check on both POFQ and WL.

I had a standard room booked at POFQ but the day that free dining came out - I was on the phone at 7:00 and ended up having to upgrade to a garden view. But that was ok - I got my free dining and the hotel that I wanted to stay at. I was trying to book in December - now there is nothing available at FQ for my dates. So I am very happy.

I am pretty sure the standard rooms are available for free dining at POFQ.. my parents were able to get one their last trip with FD. I think the standard rooms just sell out quicker, so the garden view and river view are only left. I was only able to get FD for September, booking a river view room... which was fine by me because I was booked at POR Royal Room with the room only discount and it was even cheaper to switch to POFQ with FD for a river view. I do believe the standard rooms are the ones that sell first and quick... some may open up though randomly.

I was able to book a standard room with free dining at POFQ for our trip in November! I booked it two days after free dining was released to the general public.

This is our first trip without the kids, and I'm really excited!!

We originally had reservations for a standard room at POR for end of Nov. and when FD came out we had to switch to a garden view at POFQ to get the FD.

I am booked for free dining in a standard room at POFQ for the week of Dec. 10th. I don't know where people are getting the information that the standard rooms there aren't included but I can tell you for sure they are!!! Good luck!

One of our group had to switch to a garden room at POR to get the free dining for the end of November. She called as soon as they opened the first day they released it....however, I think it came out for the credit card people first.
