We are changing our resevations to a split stay because of free dining. My travel agent said that I can't link my dining reservations to my new reservation #...I thought I read on here that is untrue and nothing would be cancelled. Am I correct?

Your ADRs won't be canceled. Is this a WDW specialist TA telling you this?

There is a difference between what you said the TA said and your reservations being cancelled.

You probably can't link your ADR's to your new reservation number as the TA said but there is no need to do that.

It doesn't mean they will be cancelled though.

Did they say they would be cancelled or just that they would not be linked with your new reservation number?

She said that once she cancelled the original reservation they would be cancelled. It was a TA at Liberty Travel...I would have rather booked myself but we had my parents gift cards to use up so we went with them. She seems clueless! I don't care that I can't link them as long as they are not cancelled.

Your ADRs will not be cancelled. Resort reservations and ADRs are separate and although you need your resort confirmation to take advantage of 180+10, they are not linked in any way to make them get cancelled for cancelling or modifying a current reservation.

Your dining reservations are safe. I had to do the exact same thing when I changed my dates. In fact, I had to go and manually cancel all my previous ADRs because they were still in the system. Don't worry, all will be well.

Did you check how much your theme park tickets will be? We looked at doing a split stay a couple years ago and our tickets went up by hundreds of dollars. Day 8 was no longer considered day 8. It was day 1 pricing all over again.

It is more expensive to do a split stay with dining on both reservations as you have to purchase park tickets for both resorts (a 1 day base minimum if you pay for dining and a 2 day base minimum for free dining). You can get tickets to cover the whole stay on the first resort and save the other tickets for a future trip, but it adds up for the first trip. Disney doesn't see it as a split stay, but rather 2 separate reservations; therefore, the need for another ticket purchase for the 2nd resort in order to get the DDP.
