Free Dining and Passholder

I was just wondering...how this would work.

I have an AP which will expire on August 27, 2009. I would like to go back to the World (for my BDay) from September 1-September 4 our passes will expire...I was going to renew the pass but since free dining is out I am totally confusedwhat's new??

Here's the dilema I clearly get that you can purchase the free dining as long as you get at least a 1 day park pass...I am clear that you can upgrade what ever tickets you have to a larger number of days or even for an AP, but what I am not clear on is can you upgrade to an AP renewal???


I just want to know before I decide to book my bday trip

I did post this on the Theme Parks board, but what I think I failed to mention is that they are DVC APs.

As far as I am aware, you can offset the cost of a 1-day pass against the renewal of an Annual Pass with DVC discount (if that's what you're asking).

I know that you will be able to upgrade the one day pass you buy to an AP AND you can get your DVC discount off the AP as well. We were able to do this during the 4/7 deal with passes we had purchased. Now that I think about it though, we didn't "renew" passes so I guess I'm not sure how you get the renewal price as well. I would suggest calling Disney to see how it all works or hopefully someone else who has done this will fill you in. Good luck!
