For someone who always stays at deluxe resorts, free dining makes me a little angry. The values with quick service and the mods with regular dining are a great deal, but the deluxe with regular dining is not a great deal. In my opinion, I think the deluxe dining plan should be offered for free with a deluxe hotel.

That definately would be nice, although the 40% is typically a better discount than the free dining for me.

Yes the 40% is a better deal but I still wouldn't hesitate to take that deluxe dining for free and run with it!! We always upgrade from regular dining to deluxe.

I agree that if they are going to offer Full Dining for the Mods and Deluxe's they should offer it also for the Values. If they offer Quick for the values, and full dining for the mods it DOES make sense to offer the higher dining plan to the deluxe's. Common sense there! But as always Disney is in the market to MAKE MONEY....while we know they MAKE IT ANYWAY no matter what deal they offer (or they simply wouldnt have offered it to begin with) it does irk me.... :snooty:

I also agree that the room only discounts between 35% - 40% off is a much better deal at the Deluxe Resorts then Free Dining, because how can it be worth it paying the rack rate just to get Free Dining?

When the rumors of FD pins were swirling around last week, someone was saying the pin was for free deluxe dining with a deluxe resort. I'm not holding my breath or anything, but I will definitely be calling March 1 to see if I have one of these - we're on the DXDDP and I could upgrade to a deluxe from a moderate resort for the same price as my current discount.

Well which offer is better depends upon your family. For us, we are a family of four adults (by disney standards anyway) and free dining saves us slightly more more than the 40% discount. This is also partly because we travel in the summer when the raise the price of the dining plan. On a second note, I find it strange that people complain about something that is free (DDP) and simply want more. If you want a better deal ($) then book the moderate and take free dining. If you were going to Disney anyway and planning to stay at a deluxe (or any resort for that matter), your food is now free if you get the PIN code or they offer it to the general public.

To me staying at a deluxe and getting offered the deluxe DDP, doesn't work because staying at a deluxe doesn't make my stomach any bigger. But if its of value to some then it would be nice to offer.

But I do totally agree that the value of free dining is very different at a value vs. a deluxe. What is Disney's goal with this? They have to know that value guests are saving a higher percentage than deluxe guests.

I suppose that is why I don't plan on using free dining, and am hoping for an AP discount, and buying TiW.

I agree!! It only makes sense to offer free Deluxe Dining to deluxe resort guest. This is an offer I would consider. We are currently booked at 40% off, but we do go to a lot of table service meals.

This is the thought that I had when they changed to QSDP for values and DDP for mods. DxDDP for deluxes just makes sense and give people an incentive to book deluxe over mod.

For us at CR (assuming May when we usually travel,) 40% off is only a savings of $180 per night, while free DxDDP is a savings of $224 per night. Free DDP doesn't make sense for us, but free DxDDP would.

No kidding. The difference for us (2 adults, 2 kids) from the 40% off and FD is more than $50 a night; about $100 if you're staying in a CL room.

Depends on how many are in your family. For our family of 5 FD saves about $300. Deluxe dining for Deluxe hotel would be nice though :thumbsup2

For a family of 2 adults and 3 kids over 9 it would save $229.95 a night. 40% off a GV room at the Poly during value season would save $154. Traveling with less then 2 adults and 3 kids over 9, or staying in a higher category room would negate the value of FD.

I am sure that Disney have teams of analysts crunching numbers all day long on these discount offers. I am wondering if perhaps they have less rooms available at Deluxe than at Value and certainly they can service a lot more people on FD going through CS than if they offered a lot of Deluxe plans with all those extra table service meals - I doubt they would have the restaurant space to honour all those credits and then everyone would get mad that they couldn't get a table service booking

I always stay deluxe, have never managed to get Free Dining, and this year there is currently no discount at all for June. I would happily take Free Dining and feel gratified to get it.

I just did the math for our upcoming trip...staying at AKL for 5 nights, 2A/2C. We booked under a 40% PIN code in a bunk bed/Savannah View room.

If I re-booked with free dining and a rack rate, that would cost me $240 more than the 40% PIN and adding the tickets and DDP.

It all depends on when you go and who is in your party to determine if the FD is the best deal for you...

I'm right with ya'! I'll be calling also for this same reason.

I would personally love that offer. We do deluxe resorts and deluxe dining. I book with 40% off pin since it's slightly better than FD and upgrading to DxDP. However, even though the free DxDP would save me at least a few hundred over the week, I would rather it weren't offered since it would just increase so much the demand for the TS restaurants, it would just make it absolutely nuts!

Free DDP WOULD make me try the POLY.. instead of FQ. I have been dying for a reason.. THAT would do it!!!!
