Free dining 2014

May 20th? because April 20th is Easter weekend and I can't imagine them putting all those people on overtime on a major holiday...:surfweb:

After April 20. That is when the MM offer expires. Easter is my ADR date. I never make ADRs, but hoping to snag BBB and CRT for the same morning.

How can you tell that 50% are booked? :confused3

I just tried, using dates 9/16 thru 9/30 and the only resorts that say "The resort is unavailable for the dates, party size or offer selected" is CSR and The Villas at GF. Using the dates 10/1 thru 10/15 it was Poly, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk and The Villas at GF but those dates were random.

If you shorten the dates and play around with just 3-7 days at a time, the only resort I could find that was not available was The Villas at GF and it was only 9/16 thru 9/19 and then Coronado springs 9/22 thru 9/23.
Checking dates 9/23 thru 9/30 all resorts were available.:confused3
October dates and resorts were more random.
And of course, if your dates fall anywhere within those dates, those resorts may show filled.

As Black stated, booking early can be detrimental to discounts so it is best for everyone not to book until the discounts are available to the public.:thumbsup2

I received an email from Disney about my current searching on their site for a vacation.

It says to book and use code THN - does anyone know if this is a discount code?

It isn't a discount at all. Just a code that tells them how you became interested in booking. Pin codes are 15 digits long.

Yes I got the same email. It saved me about $120 for my 7 night family of four package

Interesting! Are you sure? I got the same code and it was rack rates. 3 digit codes have never been known to include a discount. Mine came in the regular mail, but it was the same letters.

ETA: Just checked and also had multiple emails with that code. Booking through the book now link states it is a non discounted rate. Strange!

Its not a pin code but the cm needed the code plus the name of the person it was sent to so she could apply it.

It's called a "fishing code". It is a code Disney sends out to see how many bookings they can "catch" without a bigger discount.:lmao:

As I feel the MM promo is a test for finding a suitable replacement for free dining. Once they find a promo that works, that's when they'll pull the trigger. I am not seeing the MM being "the one" however.

as a WDW guest, the MM promo would never convince me to book at trip.
SPD would if there was no FD; we will be staying at a Value next trip and a RO there does not cut it for me budget-wise.

I agree Black! Then the PIN that gave the room discount + PH, not sure if that did it either.
I know for me, FD is the only thing that will get me to "jump" and book (since I have had it in the past and I know it is the best saving for my family).
The others will get me to check the price and compare but if it doesn't give me the same bang for my buck, I won't pull the trigger:rotfl:

Yes I was wondering as the prices it showed were the regular prices and I didn't want to call long distance to find out it meant nothing.

I did get sent a pin code in January but it was for Feb and March and we decided to wait until November as it is easier with all my daughter's activites to go at the beginning of the school year.

Thanks again

I got the same thing, so I called to see if rates would be any different than what I was looking at online. So after a half hour of talking to the CM, she gave me the price, which was different...by $1,000!

Except the wrong way. What I found on their site was $1,000 cheaper than what she quoted me. She went over it and said I should just book online before it went away. No codes or anything.

What's up with that?!

if you go to Disney site type in the wks and pick room only they show you the rooms avail. The ones that are booked say (please choose another option). Try it?

Ignoring the sarcasm typed into your post as I type this.

I am fully aware of how to check to see if a room that I want is available. I suppose I was questioning your 50% quote as I'm not sure how you have computed the number of rooms to figure out your 50%.

Thanks in advance for a less snarky answer! :thumbsup2

Our TA also told us that MM was only offered at "select resorts".

just click the "quote" button at the bottom of the post you are wanting to include :thumbsup2

head over to CSR and check any dates in sept. The majority of the rooms are full.

Do you mean to say that of the different TYPES of rooms (standard view, garden view, royal room, for example) half or more than half of the types listed are showing not available?

Dad's Guide posted tonight that there will be a probable FD announcement Monday! Fingers crossed here for November! Is anyone else seeing this reported elsewhere?
