Free dining 2014

I am wondering when they will offer this free dining? like next week will the promotion start, not the free dining days in in September for example
Thanks

That would be an affirm MonkeyMouse, I'm working with a higher number of days than 7 - yippie! I should have mentioned that, believe me I would love to stay at a moderate (which moderate are you pricing, now you have me curious I've been pricing New Orleans French Quarter) anyway, I could afford it - but my cheap self is well .. cheap :-)

"Oh" I am also looking at if All Star got free dining, my current price would drop $1,000.00 and if I paid to upgrade to table service ($400 'ish) I'm coming out around $600 in the plus - from what I'm paying now. So, that is the price I'm looking at that would be the rental car (and a bit left over) to bring me back up to the price I'm paying now. Right now a moderate with free dining would still be a little higher than what I am paying now, so I would come out the same, which is why I said if they do offer and All Star is excluded that I would switch in a heartbeat :-)

We have a reservation for September at the villas at WL through my in-laws' DVC. My parents are joining us for the trip and have a cash reservation at WL also. I have already purchased the dining plan for my 2 kids (ages 5 and 3), but not tickets. If free dining is offered during our stay, could my parents add my kids to their room so that they will be able to get free dining? Can I cancel the dining for the kids that I already paid for on my DVC reservation. It is my understanding that you have to have tickets in order to get the dining plan. My parents purchased a package so they already have their tickets. If they had to buy tickets for my kids, I could just pay them. I'm just wondering if this is even an option. If free dining is released, do they have to cancel and rebook? Sorry I have lots of questions.

Yes you can add the kiddos to the other reservation, but park tickets (minimum 3 days last year) would need to be added as well. It may be better for you to add the adults instead so that you get adult size meals the kids can share :-). Would be just a tad more... Not much... Would be worthy of checking ahead of time which options is best for you! For me... I would probably pay just a bit more for the adult ticket and save them for a later visit... This assuming you have AP already.

I'm hoping for FD to come in for my trip 10/14 - 10/19.

those days are historically been excluded from FD because Disney does not need to offer FD to fill the rooms because of Columbus Day. Do you have flexibilty on your dates?

Last years October FD dates were:

September 29 - October 2
October 18 - November 2

The feeling seems to be that if there is FD in October the black out dates will be similar to last year and 2012 was about the same.

I am hoping that they go with the original system: Value resorts=QS plan, Moderate= DDP, and so on. otherwise, i still have to upgrade if they offer us QS since we are at POFQ.

I'm always tossing "deal" numbers around in my brain and every time I think about maybe getting free dining, I think about upgrading to a moderate from a value - then I price the moderate, as if there’s free dining and then the value at free dining. There’s even enough of a savings if we stay value and upgrade the dining that makes it worth it for me. Of course, I try to do everything on the cheap :)

PS We also like to rent a small car, instead of using Disney transportation and the difference of the free dining with an upgrade ... to what I have booked now, is the price of a rental car - makes it very attractive to me to stay at a value and save that extra cost. Ah hector, I'd probably still stay at a value - all we do there is sleep anyway:laughing:

Let's hope for free dining for all - it is always cool to get, regardless of how everyone decides to "spend" it!

PSPS I will add that if it is offered and for some reason All Star is excluded (for whatever reason) and the moderate I look at all the time is included, all bets are off - I'd upgrade to the moderate, hands down!

I always hopefully price out the moderate, but it's still saving about $600 to stay at a value and upgrade the DDP. That covers the car and Universal tickets, plus some meal gratuities. Good thing I love Pop!

You will need to put a$200 deposit on the card to get the promo when it's offered to Disney visa holders.

How do you get notified of the promo early by having the Disney card? We have one but have not yet heard of this perk.

*EDIT*
Nevermind, reading more of this thread it sounds like I should expect an email.

They are supposed to email you, but most people never get it. You'll hear about it here long before anywhere else.

You have to call, and use the visa to put $200 deposit on a reservation. If you already have a reservation, you'll need to put $200 on your card to switch it over.

do you know- as long as your start date of your trip falls in those dates will you be allowed to use the free dining for the entire duration of your trip? thanks!

No new offers. The CM I just spoke with said nothing will be offered until after 20th???

Not yet for FD for September--called today. Lady said that she is normally placed on mandatory overtime for the weekend that it is coming out, and is NOT on mandatory overtime this week.

I checked on POR, POFQ CS,AOA at the last 2 wks of sept till the first 2 wks of oct and 50% if not more of the rooms are booked up. That is not a good sign. Either people are booked and waiting for free dining or they might not offer it for at least those resorts.....?

Which is why people should never book ahead in anticipation of a discount. I know the temptation is very high, but the risk far outweighs the reward....by a mile.

How can you tell that 50% are booked? :confused3

I know we canceled our reservation for September. We will definitely go if the FD comes out, such a great offer for our family of 5, but I figured I would not go for the MM promotion. So instead of holding a room I know I wont be using I....Let it go...Let it go...can't hold it back anymore...:rolleyes1
Oops sorry, Frozen is playing in the background again! Still hoping FD runs for dates that will work for us, we are pretty flexible though!

May 20th? because April 20th is Easter weekend and I can't imagine them putting all those people on overtime on a major holiday...:surfweb:
