Free Dining 2014 Discussion

I'm just worried about POR standard rooms all being unavailable throughout September. I can't believe they are all booked.

Debate with my wife....... We are waiting for FD to become avail and are also DV card holders . We would really like to stay at POFQ hoping it is offered. She wants to book it now on our DV and then switch it over once FD is announced. I say wait till after. Problem is seeing that the resort is so small we don't want it to fill up before we get a res? Any suggestions???

If you are going to stay at French Quarter regardless of whether you get Free Dining or not, you should book it to make sure you get what you want.

If you will switch resorts if French Quarter is not available for Free Dining when it is announced, you might as well wait. It is VERY likely that POFQ will not be included (I can't remember the last time it was included, but I don't keep records of this or anything). Then you would have to switch resorts anyway and cancel the reservation you just made.

I registered for the DV on Monday just waiting on the cards. What is the likelyhood they will arrive before May 1st? since that is the consensus for the DV FD announcement. We already have a res at POFQ. Stayed there in 2012 with FD really hoping to get it there again. Would hate to switch but will for FD...

Just going by what other posters on the thread have posted, it is about 7-10 days.
You may want to call Chase Disney Visa and see if they can give you an indication of how long it takes.
If there are an influx of others rushing to get a Chase Disney Visa to get a jump on FD, there may be a delay.

I agree! The only days available at POR for a standard room in September are:
1st-7th
10th
27th-28th

I would truly encourage all that are already booked and those who are hoping to book at POR in a standard room, have your other choices ready (either another room catagory if POR is not excluded and/or another resort).
I would not expect them to offer FD to POR standard room category since they are already booked almost solid thru September.

I applied for mine a few weeks ago and it took just over a week to get here. Hope yours gets to you soon :)

FWIW, I got FD at POFQ last October. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

FD was not available at POFQ for the GP FD offer. Unless you checked in during the last few days of the September FD offer when it was included.

FD at POFQ for October was exclusively via PIN last year.

I am more concerned for the POR exclusion than POFQ. At least in the standard room category, since they are already booked almost solid for September. But I do recommend that you call as early as you possibly can since POFQ is such a small resort. :thumbsup2
And even if you don't get your DV till after the DV offer comes out, call as soon as you have your DV in hand. Any jump start is better than none :flower3:

Silly question:
Why are the cabins listed as deluxe on this thread, but Disney considers them a moderate? Is it the higher price?

Also, have the cabins ever been excluded for FD in the fall? Our family is going nov 8-16. I know the first two days are generally excluded and hopefully it'll start that Monday (10)! Are they always excluded with a Pin as well?

Thanks guys!!!

I have 2 Disney Visa cards and rceived both of them 9-10 days after applying.

Our TA told us that POFQ was part of FD in Sept for the last few years and so we are in there now. We have a "what if" list for her to act on, BUT I want the smaller park too.
What is amazing to me is that I can't remember when Disney didn't have a promotion announced as soon as one ended. There is NOTHING past Aug and it has been that way for a few weeks now. Just seems odd.
When I checked the numbers at POFQ they were not close to filled either.

In the first post of this thread Joe posted:
"Some resorts are excluded, such as Mermaid Rooms at Art of Animation, Campsites at Ft. Wilderness, and 3-bedroom villas, and Villas at The Grand Floridian. A 3 night minimum stay (14 night maximum) and two day minimum park ticket is required for each person in the party."

Not sure why they are showing deluxe:confused3

I applied for mine a week before the last estimated fd date and received my cards 5 days later. But it told me 7-10 days in my email. Most people get them a week or so later from what I read waiting for mine.

You're right, that's what I did. I checked in on 9/29 and stayed through the first week of October I believe.

im not sure if this is in this or not, does anyone have the link to joes facebook page. I cant seem to find it. Thanks

I don't know what to do lol. Were. 2 adults booked POR standard with room discount I think 20% and free MM. Which I will buy. If FD comes out I'll probably have to upgrade to a garden view. I just don't know what the savings would be for 6 nights and tickets. Ugh! The waiting.

You pay rack to get free dining. Disney usually also offers a RO discount at the same time but you would have to buy the DDP at full price. If you are staying deluxe its worth running the $'s to see if the RO discount is better than FD.

I'm hoping for a RO, it's just the DH & I in Sept, so we are staying at WL & would like to upgrade to The Old Faithful Club. Patiently waiting.
