Free Dining 2014 Discussion

I see that free dining for October and November was announced on 8/1 last year, but it excluded November 1-11. I'm helping my niece plan her honeymoon trip for 11/3-11/9 and hoping they would get the free dining. Does something special go on during that first week of November that would preclude specials?

I see a lot of people talking about calling WDW to book FD? Do you have to book Free Dining over the phone? Or can you book it online? Is there an advantage to booking over the phone? Thanks!

When it's released to Disney Visa holders, it can only be booked by phone. Once the public date occurs, you can book by phone or online. The website usually opens up before the phones, and you don't have to wait on hold...as long as the website doesn't crash, which happens from time to time.

First week of November can be busy. Jersey week, Last weekend of Food and Wine and the Wine and Dine Race weekend. Also Veteran's day weekend.

Just called Disney to try to get a dessert party ADR. The CM asked if I had a reservation. I said no that I was holding out for free dining. She then asked if I was a cast member...hmmm? I said no and she didn't say anymore. I then asked if she knew if FD would be announced soon and she said she hadn't heard anything.

I'm so excited for tomorrow to see if it's finally announced officially. It's been almost five years since we have been to the World and as long as Free Dining comes out, we are finally getting back to our favorite place this fall!!!! I'm so excited and thankful. It's been a long, hard bunch of years and we cannot wait to be there!

What do you think will be announced tomorrow? Aug/sept only?

Tomorrow is the first date that falls in line with what I uncovered. It by no means guarantees it will be announced.

Personally, I'm looking more at next week due to the fact of the Memory Maker promo expiring next Sunday.

But we shall see....usually, something will be in the wind by now if it were happening tomorrow.

Excited about this - could it be that we might actually be able to afford to go to WDW after all???

Two questions - can people from overseas take advantage of the US free dining offers? We have done free dining two or three times now and when you book in the UK, you have to book early.

Also are all resorts included? Sorry if it already says so on another post - I have only just come across this thread and now it's 11pm and bedtime over here!:wave2:

Hi Everyone :wave2:

I've been hanging out here from sunny England and I thought I'd ring Disney UK today (based in USA) and get an idea of what their take on things was and to see if any of my party's names had a pin attached.
I was on the phone for 45 mins and asked about the FD. I was told the following-

If it comes out, which he seemed to think something was going to happen soon for late summer/sept, it would be on public offer in UK and only on Visa and then random PIN in the USA.

Most of the time FD was not offered in the value All Star Resorts.

He said he knows Disboards quite well, but only as a spectator.

I didn't know the offers varied by country and also when I asked if we had any PINs with our names that are in the system due to ordering planning tools etc, he didn't know what I meant.

So confused :confused3

If anyone could shed some light I'd be very grateful :flower3:

UK offers are indeed different than the others. In fact, it appears they are releasing free dining on April 24th for 2015 for UK residents.

As for the US, they have not done a Visa only offer, the Visa only gets a few days advanced bookings.

Thanks ah ok, so then I suppose my next question is can we, as UK residents with our flights already booked, ring and book via the US site and take advantage of their FD offer if it doesn't get offered over here?

re. Visa yes sorry that's what I meant! :thumbsup2

So probably not tomorrow, but possibly as early as this Thursday?

The Wine & Dine 1/2 Marathon Weekend.

Someone will call in the morning just to check.

By the way, for our friends in the UK, it looks like Free dining for 2015 will be available to book from April 24 until November 30 for stays from January 1, 2015 not including between March 24 - 12th April 12.

UK gets all the perks, already looking into 2015.

We booked with the memory maker discount before we knew anything about free dining so my question is if free dining comes out at midnight online couldn't i book another package online at midnight with free dining then cancel my memory maker package later?

Yes, you could do that but I don't believe the deals load on the site at midnight.
