Free Dining 2014 Discussion

I think there is a possibility you could still book a room at POR or CBR, especially because they are two of the largest resorts. Keep checking if they aren't immediately available. Sometimes they open up as the promotion continues.

Just keep trying. But make sure you are prepared with a 1st, 2nd even 3rd choice just incase what you truly want isn't available.
Last year when FD opened our first choice POFQ was excluded, our 2nd choice POR was not showing any availability so I ended up booking our 3rd choice of Coronado. I then checked back everyday, several times a day and about 2weeks later I was able to switch back to our 2nd choice of POR. It was a beautiful resort and my DH and DS now say it's thier favorite Mod.

A marketing executive somewhere is getting a big pat on the back; who knew the Memory Maker promotion would be so popular. Bookings over the past month are through the roof! ;)

Ugh! I'm going to scream if disney comes out with a new free disney for cardholders offer here in the next week or two (and I'm sure they will). Got approved for my card over 3 weeks ago but still no card. Called and they refused to issue a new one (which I get). It was shipped on the 12th. They told me to call back on the 1st. Ugh!

Don't the details usually leak from TA's or someone else at least the day before?

Info used to leak weeks before, but they have cracked down on limiting info. We may or may not know specifics before it goes live, but there should be something released on Thursday because multiple CMs have stated that they were given overtime.

They typically come in an unmarked envelope. Any chance you accidentally threw it away?

Oh no:( It took less than a week to get mine.

Ok, here goes hoping for some truth to what i was just told.... I called Disney Dining cause I needed to change a couple of reservations for my trip in September, so we go through the changes, and I could tell she was knew, and she mentioned to a couple of time to bear with her cause she was new, then I asked just before another reservation change, if she had heard of the Free Dining offer and when it may come out and this is what she said. ....." Oh yes I read something today in a memo regarding this hold on let me look it up" I was like what, and then she said oh I am sorry I will have to transfer you to another department for that question" So take it lightly or take it any which way, I think that maybe just maybe its happening this week.

I sure don't blame you! That would be an expensive call! :scared1: Once FD goes live to the general public, you can book on line starting at midnight EST. Soooooo IF Disney Visa holders get advance booking on Thursday, you can normally expect Monday to be the day it goes live to the general public meaning you can go online at Midnight Monday morning EST and book.

Thanks for the info! Very much appreciated.

No, definitely did not throw away. I'm in charge of mail/DH in charge of paying the bills lol. I always open everything just to make sure but I've been overly cautious knowing it was coming. Someone on another board suggested calling again, explaining why I needed it (they'll think I'm crazy though if I say free dining is probably being released Thursday) and seeing if they'll fedex it. Thoughts?

Do you know if the last day of FD usually end on a Friday or Saturday?

Last year for sept it ended on a Wednesday. In 2011 in ended on a Thursday. when I booked our sept 2013 trip I booked our first day being the last Thursday of September, come to find out when FD was finally released the last day was the last Wednesday in September 2013 so we had to change our trip by adding an extra day to get it. No complaints tho an extra day in Disney :)

Ok ... so I read through the links and Disney brochures and it says for the regular dining plan you get 1 TS, 1 QS and 1 snack per night.
So for 4 nights it's 4 TS.

If you eat at signature restaurant then you use 2TS credits.

So does that not leave 2TS credits (and not 3 credits)?

Yes. you would have 2 TS credits left

I really hope so! I'm hoping this time next week my sister and I are discussing what area of POR to request and how we're going to spend our free dining credits :goodvibes

Ok thanks - because I didn't understand the above post by sbarisch - I thought I was missing something.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm struggling with the fact that this is our first family trip to Disney world and I want my girls' first trip to be magical. I also don't know when we'll be able to make it back to WDW, so I'm trying to squeeze everything into one visit. This is all so overwhelming.

It's good to know that you've experienced both and enjoyed the quick service.

I'm not sure how old your girls are, but we took our first Disney trip last September when our girls were 3, 5.5, and 8. We had such an amazing time! We went during free dining and were on the regular dining plan. Our girls loved the character meals. We ate at Chef Mickey's our first night, and we heard about how much they loved it every time the monorail passed through the contemporary. They also loved Akershus, Crystal Palace, Hollywood and Vine, and 1900 Park Fare. I think character meals were a wonderful part of our first trip. We definitely got to meet more characters that way, the food was usually very good, and it was a nice break too.

I also had no idea if we'd ever be able to afford to go back (or if my husband would ever agree again!) and we're planning our second trip for this November--definitely using the regular dining plan again.
