Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 2

So, I'm trying to get some prices to compare resorts with FD and the website is of course not working. I put the info (date, hotel I want etc) and it brings be to the explore resort hotel page. Sometimes it lets me click a resort, sometimes not. and it ALWAYS brings me back a page once I get to the specific resort page...this BETTER be fixed by tomorrow

...and now they are unable to add a package to my cart at this time :headache:

So I've been waiting anxiously for the FD to be released to GP, but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it. Let me explain: We have our room booked at Wyndham Bonnet Creek through our timeshare for 9/20-9/27. This is where we always stay. We have 1 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, (could get 2 bed/2 bath if we wanted) a full and equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and we don't pay a penny - except $6/person each day for busing to the parks. I was wanting to switch to a Disney resort this time around because we've never done one and this is a big celebration trip for our family (our youngest turns 6 on the trip while our oldest is celebrating her 1 year anniversary of her diabetes diagnosis). I am looking at booking POP for the week because that seems to be highly rated by all, and upgrading to the DP from QS, estimating about $1200 - $1400 (room + DP upgrade) depending on the room... Is the dining plan worth me switching? I'm having a hard time coming up with the prices for the different restaurants. We would love to do multiple TS and Char Dining meals, we've only ever done Akershus for lunch. I appreciate any feedback. Thank you :)

Why not just stay at Bonnet Creek, do all the TS and character dining you want, and pay for the meals? It's surely going to be far less than $1400. Personally, I don't care all that much for Pop. It's okay, and I would stay there again if it's what fit my budget, but I would never rave about it. I sure wouldn't pay for it if I could stay at Bonnet Creek basically for free. Of course, it's a personal decision. If you really want to stay at Pop, then that's probably where you should stay. :thumbsup2

Just pushed our date up 2 days from 11/9 to 11/11 and they had the FD standard room at the polynesian available on that date now! We haven't booked flights yet so we were flexible! Now I just need to change my whole plan in time to book my ADR's on the 15th!! Ahh at least we got FD! Saved us 1000$

We are booked for sept fd package but the flight i just booked has me not leaving csr till 345 so i may need to add a park ticket to my package. What is the latest i can do this without an added fee other than the cost of the extra day ticket?

Good luck to all for FD tomorrow : )

Remember to stay on the phones if you hear the music. It took me 2 1/2 hrs from 7 am EST to get someone (but that was changing an existing res).

I booked AoA with the quick service plan and was going to pay for a few meals out of pocket. Could I do a split stay at AoA and upgrade to the regular dining plan for 3 days and do CS for 4? It would end up being cheaper than paying for 3 meals out of pocket. Would that mean switching rooms or could I set it up so I stayed in the same room?

I don't believe I have seen anyone saying they were going to try to get the Animal Kingdom Lodge with free dining. I have never stayed there before but it looks super nice. Is this just not one of the more well liked places?

So I'm trying to price out a couple of different scenarios to be ready for Tommorow and the website will only let me book a room only , it says it's not available to book room and tickets at this time!? Uh oh did the website break early:rotfl:

There were issues last night with ADRs. Seems like it's a system all around. :(

AKL is one our favorite resorts! We stayed there on our trip in February '13. It's gorgeous and there's lot of activities going on all of the time. My kids definitely enjoyed just looking out of the windows and seeing different animals anytime of day.
