Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 2

So .... assuming POR is not included I have to decide what to do. I have a Royal Room booked which I really think my daughters (3 & 5) would love but is suddenly feeling quite expensive vs. CBR with free dining. Is it a no-brainer to switch to CBR to save the money?

Or if I decide CBR is not for us and I'm going to overpay for the POR RR, would I be better off paying the same amount for WL with free dining (vs POR RR + DP, WL is actually about $100 less)?

What are others going to do who had their hearts set on POR?

CBR has a wonderful pool for little ones, with the cute pirate ship play area. I would switch to CBR (preferred location) and save money. Actually, I would probably switch to CBR and then add on a night or two, so I wouldn't save money. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Ok so when we call tomoro, we do not need to mention the code from chase right? And do not mention disney debit? I'm kinda confused :confused3

Keep in mind that Disney basically always gives some form of a discount. WL with Free dining might currently be cheaper than POR at Rack rates with a dining plan, but even if you don't get free dining there should be 20-30% off the room or something else that will come along. I'd be surprised if a deluxe resort ended up cheaper than a moderate in the end...

With that said, free dining is typically one of the better promotions Disney offers, so CBR with free dining is likely going to end up cheaper than whatever you do eventually get for POR..it just wont be as big of a difference as you see when comparing rack room rates. Personally, I'd try and confirm if CBR will have the resort updates by the time you go (queen size beds, etc.) and try and make the best decision from there. Best of luck!

We're a family of 5...POR is always our first Go-To. So with it out of play we looked at AoA suites, ASmu Suites or deluxes. I just can't stomach paying ALMOST as much for a value family suite as we would a deluxe. We have stayed in the cabins too but I don't like the transportation situation at Ft. Wilderness so I think we're going to go deluxe. My first choice I think will be Boardwalk Inn. Second, Beach Club. Wilderness villas are a third choice but I've heard the walks to those can be killer.

I have been trying for 3 hours now to apply a payment to my reservation and Disney's website keeps crashing on me. Very frustrating. So glad I am not due for a final payment today.

Wow! This thread is moving like lightning and its not even officially out yet! You guys might break the boards tomorrow! Good Luck everybody.

if all you need is a Disney Visa, how in the world would a CM know its a Disney Visa vs a Bank of America credit card? Is there some sort of validation process that I am not aware of? Otherwise, the code would be the only way and if so, then you could get away with using any other card.

What am I missing here?

It has to do with the first 4 numbers on the card.

I really wish we could do CBR! Looks like ASMu or AoA for us... or hope for a room discount.

:thumbsup2 They know just by the number if it is or isn't a Disney Visa.

When I spoke w. DV earlier today, I confirmed that both POFQ & POR are on the list, i asked if she could forward me a copy of the offer and she did...the are listed. I called and spoke w/ CM later and she confirmed that I needed to call back tomorrow with my 5 didgit promo number and when I asked directly about POR & POFQ she said "it's included for DV members". They may not include in the offer to the general public, but that is good enough for me... :cool1:

The first 4 digits tell them its a Disney visa or Disney debit. Just so everyone knows, Disney debit also gave out the code to me, so it looks like debits count too like in the past.:thumbsup2

The few travel agents/Disney planners I know have not heard of any restriction on the Disney Debit Card for tomorrow. It should be fine to use. You just might not get an advance code.
