Now there is an interesting post in the poscast forum about a "travel announcement" today. Not sure what that's about but it raises my curiosity a little bit.

I know a TA and spoke to her regarding the "announcement" yesterday, and she did confirm that there was to be an additional announcement that is not related to China or the new cruise ports, but did not know what it was. As of this am, when she logged into the the TA site, nothing still was posted.

Not to burst bubbles, but I only heard about the one announcement for today. I have been telling anyone that asks, that usually there is more hype and rumblings about a big promo and that it is the secret that is not such a secret. So I am unfortunately not getting any hopes high, for myself or anyone else. The email I recieved stated only about the two announcements and two have been made. The system was down this morning, but is back up and you can now book the DCL through all of 2012 with the new sailings and ports. Seeing that made me think even more that this is not looking so good. I was just on the TA site and there is still nothing new posted for WDW. That is not to say that there won't be. The Summer Room Discount came out of no where and was just suddenly there, but I just feel that in years past the FD has been buzzed about for weeks and that there is more of a rumbling about it. This is why I told so many that I work with to take advantage of the Kids Stay and Play and the room only discounts and then switch if FD came out. I have a lot of people sad that there may be nothing new. Disney did offer through the end of the year already and I had read back then that it would not be re released. They have done the discounts so differently this year that I think there is no way to really guess as to what may happen. For anyone - TAs or any of us really. We are all sitting and waiting. Me I am walking away, taking my kids to a movie, and checking in when I get home.

Good advice and I agree on all points. Also walking away for now. I scoured these boards for free dining news in years past. This year I don't even need it .. the trip is already booked. I rented points and got a dicount on tickets and saved a small fortune over rack rate. Yet here I am still stalking this thread.

I don't even know why I'm following this thread because I already have free dining and don't have any other trips planned for the remainder of the year. Guess I just like to keep up to date on the latest news.

That is why I use a reputable travel agent. She takes care of it while I do what I want in the rest of my life.

Since it came out the end of April last year (according to the historical sale data on Mousesavers) I would expect to see it then, or later.
It has been getting progressively later since the 3rd year at least, when it was announced in early April.
First year of FD, it was announced in June.

I expect Disney is monitoring it's bookings and the economy, but considering things have been better and have gotten worse again, and there has consistently been free dining since 2005, I'd bet that there WILL be.

My dh works in automotive, and things had been going great, very, very busy...until 2 weeks ago.
I think the Japanese crises is trickling down to US automotive mfg., and not only that, but also the increase in gas prices and groceries has got most people pinching pennies.
People aren't spending $$$ on cars, so they're probably not spending $$$ on vacation.

All this to say...WDW wants the $$ you have.
They'll figure out a way to get you to spend it.

My DH won't go without FD either--it's by far the best discount for us and the cheapest way for us to stay onsite. So here I sit, waiting.... Glad I have lots of company.

I didn't elaborate, but not only is dh spoiled by having eaten at all the great WDW restaurants FOR FREE on our previous trips...we also have 8 kids, and there is no other discount that provides such a savings for us! (and still allows us to eat the good stuff.)

WOW!! Okay so either you really like kids or you haven't figured out that the water is contaminated and therefore you need to stop drinking it!!!
