Free Dining 2008 Watch

I booked All-Star Movies with free dining from 8/30-9/7.

I read a post where someone was concerned with "movies" being the last bus stop for the All-Star resorts. How big of a problem is this? Do they fill up a lot before they ever make it to the "movies" resort? I definitely don't want to spend a lot of time waiting for a bus.

I'm debating about trying to change my reservation to Pop Century if this is a big problem; however, if it's not a big deal I'd be happy just to stay there.

Any advice??

Thanks,

Joe

We were at Movies last year and the buses were no problem. We were always the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off. So there was always room on the buses.

Hi all I just have a fast question. I don't know if I will be able to do free dining this year because of work but I remember when we took our first trip to DIsney in June 05, a few months later, February to be exact, DISNEY announced a free dinning deal. I was so excited and I really wanted to go again but the hubby said noway.
Anywho I was just wondering is anyone here other then I remember this and knows if it was ever offered again at that time of year.:confused3 Thanks

Nope. Sorry. It has only been offered in August/Septmeber. This is a slow time of year and they do it to get the hotels filled. Other offers come around at other times of the year, but not free dining.

Has anybody had any luck just adding the free dining to their existing ressie.....I am already booked at Pop and I want to add the free dining with an upgrade to deluxe???? This waiting is killing me....:surfweb: Not only that, my AAA TA has to call and take care of this and I HATE that, Disney will already be 3 hours into making reservations by the time she calls.....:scared:

I am in the same boat as you, our TA doesn't open till 9am and sometimes she is not is even then. I am getting up at 7am and making a ressie on my own to make sure I get what I want and then give her a chance to get it also. If she can at 9am then I will just cancel my ressie and give her the business. Alittle sneaky on my part but I don't want to loose my preferences.

Just curious....what time is everyone getting up and getting on the phone tomorrow morning?

Wouldn't you think that a really good travel agent would be aware of what's going on and come in a couple of hours early to make sure all of his or her customers were taken care of?

I'd be willing to bet that some of the authorized Disney TA's will be doing that.

Did anyone who booked Monday with Disney Visa have that kind of experience with their travel agent?

Do I have to have the Disney Visa now to book for Free Dining?

Okay, I got the free dining through my TA, who didn't know anything about it!! UGh!:confused3

We are a family of five, two under ten. With the free dining, I am told I will save $520.00. I did the math and I should save at least $100.00 more than that???:confused3

Does anybody know of any reason why??

Believe me, we are thrilled to get the free dining, but I want to make sure we get everything owed to us...help.

I won't be calling until about 9:15. I have to get my kids up and to preschool so I won't have time to sit on the phone on hold for a long time at 7 am. I thought I might try to call right at 7 to see if I get someone right away but I honestly don't have more then about 10 min to be on the phone.

According to Laughingplace.com:

"For 2008 the cost of the Disney Dining Plan is: $37.99 per adult/junior per night and $9.99 per child (3-9)"

You didn't say how many days you booked, so it's difficult to determine if anyone's math is correct.

But, the cost for two adults, one child over 9, and two under 9, would be $133.95 per day. Multiply that by the number of nights you booked and that's your savings.

I wish you luck. There were people on hold for over an hour on Monday morning, starting at 7:00 AM and continuing through much of the morning.

Things seemed to be quieting down when I booked around noon. (Eastern time.)

Oh, sorry. We are staying 5 nights. Sooooo, shouldn't my savings be $669.75????

I also got a quote from my TA for free dining and got a different price than what I thought it should be. I went on Disney's site and got a price quote for the resort I wanted and the ticket options too. Your price should be that price with no dining pricing in it. I then realized that she had added the Hopper option which we had not wanted. Other than that her price is exactly the same price as the Disney quote minus the hopper price. If that makes sense.

The CM are there until 10pm EST. I don't think you can reserve online as there is nothing on the Disney website yet about the dining but they may put it on tomorrow as it opens up to the general public. I would call then you can ask questions and make sure you are getting what you want.

Snuff,
Are you figuring in taxes or tickets? How about trip insurance? Is your TA charging you a fee for booking?

You can always go to Disney's website and price with and without the dining and figure out what it would actually save.
