Free Dining 2008 Watch

this may have already been ansewered, but do you have to book a minimum night stay? i only need 2 nights but fear they will require 3 for the free dining promotion.

Also, does everone in the whole party have to buy at least a one day ticket? we all have annual passes, so if we only have to buy one, i dont mind, but if i have to buy 4 one day tickets, thats a little much.

I'm not sure about the minimum stay but I have seen previous offers where it was, as you indicated, a minimum of 3 days.
Everyone on the package has to have the same tickets so you will have to buy one day tickets for all. For 2 nights, that's not sounding like as good of a deal for you.

We're booked at POR for Set 13-22 and planned to fly Southwest. I was going to book the flights at the end of April...don't really have the $$ until then! Now, not only am I waiting to see if I need to change my dates to Sept 11-20 if FD won't be allowed after the 20th; NOW I'm waiting to see the Southwest price increase. Oh AND...apparently there's speculation the Canadian Dollar will fall so that means my trip will cost more.

AARGGGG!!

Yeah I'm paying for my whole trip right away in case the dollar falls. It's only going to cost me a hundred bucks more if I pay for it now. :)

Good luck to all those waiting for free dining. I can't wait to see if I can snag it for Sept1st-8th

If it is possible to add FD after your reservation is already made, what's the point in waiting for the FD to officially be rolled out?

Because it's limited in each resort. So if you call in after the limit has been reached, you still wouldn't get free dining even tho you had a reservations already...

We get our travel section on Saturdays (it's Sunday's paper but some parts are delivered on Sat.) and there is no mention of it - this is the Phil. Inquirer so it's not a small town paper.

I just checked tomorrow's (4/6/08) Chicago Tribune and there's absolutely nothing in it regarding ANY Disney offers, even the "current" ones.

And, even though some people in L.A. and New York think of all Midwest cities as "flyovers," Chicago isn't exactly a small town either.

It will not be in tomorrow's paper. It won't hit the newspapers until it's been officially released to the PUBLIC later this week. So it should not be in tomorrow's paper, but should be in the paper the week after. Don't be surprised if you don't see it tomorrow. Can you imagine the calling frenzy if it was in tomorrow's paper when it hasn't been released yet? Just call be "been there done that" -- 4th year of the free DDP booking frenzy--but I'll be a spectator this time as my dates are mid-August, again.

Because while, to us, it might seem the CM or TA is merely adding the promotion to our reservations, in actuality the reservation system requires them to make a new reservation (then they're able to transfer the reservation number, and deposit if applicable - and remember, a value/moderate room-only reservation was likely held with less than the required $200 per room deposit) followed by cancelling the existing reservation.

So if I have booked through AAA, can I and should I call myself first thing if it's rolled out?
If you plan to make an entirely new reservation, then cancel your existing AAA reservation, yes. But your AAA Travel Agent "owns" your existing reservation, so the Disney CMs can't discuss it with you, much less allow you to make changes to it.

I have done fdd for the past two years and this wait has been the most stressful! I do believe I have an ulcer now!:scared:

So, I have a 6 night reservation at WDW within the predicted FD times. We were going to WDW if FD was offered or not. When I call Monday morning to try to get FD, should I tell the CM I already have a reservation? Or just try to make a new reservation? :goodvibes pixiedust:

When free dining is announced are you given the 14 "courtesy" hold on your reservation like you are when booking room only? This will be my first time booking a package through WDW travel. Also, my cousin is traveling with me and is a Florida resident what type of tix should she purchase in order to get the free dining? She is not staying the whole 9 nights, just 4 or 5 will this be a problem :confused3

Thanks.

Would they offer it the Sunday prior when it might only be Disney Visa that can book on Monday?

If the promotion is being released on Wednesday, would it be in this Sunday's paper or next Sunday's?

You'd think.. but it might depend on your CM. Last year I "had to" pay the deposit when I made my reservation. Others didn't.

As for your cousin - all persons on the reservation must have the same package, including park passes and night numbers. If she's not staying the entire time, others in your party should be able to use her remaining credits.

Well, if it's not in the paper, how are Disney Visa members going to know officially? Maybe they will send an email out tomorrow. :confused3:

Disney VISA will likely post it in their email and on the CHASE website. I heard it was the 7th for VISA holders...
