Free Dining 2008 Watch

I WAS BOOKED LAST YEAR THROUGH DISNEY VISA FOR THE FREE DINNING BUT ENDED UP NEEDING TO CANCEL LAST MINUTE, LONG STORY.:lmao:
WHAT I CAN'T RECALL WAS, DO YOU HAVE TO PUT THE ENTIRE TRIP ON YOUR VISA CARD, OR THE DEPOSIT ONLY IN ORDER TO GET THE FREE DINNING PROMOTION. :confused3 MEAN I GUESS IN THE LONG RUN IT WON'T MATTER. I COULD JUST PUT THE BALANCE ON AND PAY IT OFF THE FOLLOWING MOUTH IF I HAD THE MONEY BUT I HAVE HALF SAVED NOW AND HOPEFUL I WILL HAVE THE OTHER HALF BY THE BALANCE DUE DATE.
WHERE DID THE NEW RELEASE DATE COME IN. I THOUGHT WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 4TH NOW ITS THE 7TH? KILLING ME.

I would take this with a grain of salt :lmao: :lmao:
November 6th !!! Lets get a reality check here ......
They know the dates and offer to tell you however no idea when the offer starts ???????????
Yea right... This CM could be fired for giving you dates :rotfl2:
I'll believe it when its posted in the newspaper or travel agent.. JMO

Just maybe they thought today was April 1st

You know I didnt fall off the turnip truck yesterday. and no I dont think she was just having "fun" with me. I dont believe they will run through Nov either but when I quote someone I make sure to quote them word for word. She didnt say no they wouldnt open it next week, she just wouldnt confirm that part. I really didnt care about the ending dates anyway since we are going early Sept I knew if they offered it our dates would be included. To the person that asked about my ressies, yes I have already booked our package and made our ADRs for the week. I would suggest you do the same if want to get table service restaurants because available times are running out quickly. I just thought I would offer up a little info...take it or leave it.
By the way...I really think snide/rude comments are uncalled for. Theres nothing wrong with just saying I dont believe it, you dont have to take shots at somebody in the process

Sorry if you thought any shots were from me to you. As they weren't...
I'm just shocked by another mis informed CM
Its not fair to mis lead people IMO

Would this offer only be for those using the Disney Visa card and for only those staying in moderate or deluxe hotels?

Assuming that August 23rd is the right date, that *may* materially impact me.

My situation is that we are staying at WL from 8/20 - 8/30. We are planning on having DDP for the entire trip, whether or not it is free. What I am wondering is how this would work. In my case, I know that I will have to make 2 reservations - 1 for 3 days without free dining, and 1 for 7 days with.

The question is, will I have to get 2 separate park tickets - 1 for the 3 day reservation, and then another for the 7 day reservation?

Or will they allow me to use a 10 day park ticket to cover both? :confused3

Thanks for any insight...

The problem will be that your first 3 days are the ones without the dining plan(that is if assumed dates are correct), so if you are planning to go into the parks these days then I believe you are right... you will have to purchase tickets for both reservations. You are required to buy at least a one day ticket with the dining plan, at least this is how it has been in the past.

I have a 3 split stay.. long story, good reason.. what I have been told is the park tix's are good for 14 days from the date of validation/first use... you can get no expiration, but costs way more, we get base tix's, to harde to hop w/little ones who need their sleep and stay long enought to use the 10 days

dining plan ends at midnight the night of checkout for dining plan days...

:goodvibes

Thanks. That's what I expected. As it is, we are getting 20% off of our rooms, so the difference is around $30 day less with the free DDP. Take that x 7 days of the possible free dining, and it's only a $210 difference. Having to buy tickets a second time will eat up that entire amount.

I guess I'll let it go, and not take up another free DDP ressie at the WL.

Thanks for the answer. Have a great day!

AHHH good point tiggerdad3 ... what we do is plan a MNSSHP, hard ticket event for one of the early nights or just not do parks those days...

Hoping they will put it out earlier than Universal. Hope to hear soon!!!!

Can someone point me to the place where they read about Universals offer????

"This past week, many of us noted that Universal Orlando put out their own version of Free Dining - although theirs limits it to only two guests per room with the others being required to "buy" the Meal Deal - on the other hand, theirs is unlimited food and beverages at 4 restaurants in each park.

The notable thing about Universal's offer, however, is the travel dates included - August 17 to October 9."

what is jersey week????

A week in the beginning of November that the New Jersey Schools have off for teachers something or other lol......I think it is attached to Veterans Day and Election Day.

I am sure someone from New Jersey will chime in soon

Jersey girl here! I believe what you are referring to is Jersey Teacher's Convention week. This year it is very early, I believe the first week in November. The schools have off so it becomes a huge vacation weekend. The days are Thursday and Friday of that particular week.

Since I usually book room only I remember the cancellation policy on that but I have plumb forgot the cancellation policy on packages. Could someone set me straight? :)

Thanks, Slightly Goofy who is named aptly

Balance is due 45 days before start of trip, and 100% refund can be obtained if cancelling before that date.

I totally agree with you on that. I cant see them offering free dining during the food and wine festival. I'm wondering if it should be maybe Oct 6. That would sound more reasonable and would be in line with the Universal offerings:confused: But I am inclined to believe the Aug 23 start date and the fact that they will definitely be offering it

When we went in 2005, had free dining and it was October and it was DURING the food and wine. You could use your snack credits for the samples. (Ah, those were the good ol' days). I'm hoping they do extend it for those who really want or need it. Maybe they booked so many rooms already that they had to offer the general public something. After all, we did have to wait until LAST as far as rooms.

:)

Thanks for sharing the information about the dates disneygal.

Thanks, Disneygal, for sharing what you were told. I, personally, hope the CM was right. That would mean that this is something Disney is really seeing success with and that it may continue into the future. But, if not, then we'll be there in September >><<fingers crossed>><< like we have the past 3 years!

:wizard: Thanks again for giving us the scoop you got. pixiedust:

i posted the same question under podcast because that is where I heard about this. Anyway I am already booked for Sept with the dining plan. If they offer free dining. What will I have to do? any suggestions?
