Hiya gang. I would like to take you on a magical journey with me. A journey, where imagination, dreams, and wonder all collide into a magical rainbow of happiness and smiles!

Ok, ok, let me come back down to reality. I am a fanatic. I am a Disney fanatic. I love everything Disney. I just cannot get enough of it. I know I have a problem. If there was a clinic for Disney addicts. I would have to go. I have been going to Disneyworld, since I was 8 years old. Everytime off site. As my mother could only afford such. But we went, and I loved every moment! As a woman now. I identify, that I have a problem. As a matter of fact. In 2006, I finally saw. I had a serious problem. I loaded onto Magical Express for my return trip home. I was very blue. Watching that video they play of Mickey Mouse, and the gang waving goodbye. It was so hard to hold back the tears. On the airplane. I could not even eat the snacks.(Which is big feat, because I love to eat. Plus, I love airplane peanuts.lol) I had visions of being back with the Mouse. Visions of the schoolbread. I never had enough time, to bring one back home. Visions of the yeti. How the ride had broken down, and I got fastpasses to ride again. But, I never had time. I had to leave. I made it through the flight. But, when I arrived back at my home airport. I started having tremors. As, my husband drove home. The tremors started to get violent. My husband recognized my symptoms, immediatly "Disneyworld withdrawels". he said. As, he felt my head for fever.:lmao::rotfl: :lmao: It took me a good few weeks to repost on the Disboard. I could not pull myself to want to look at anything Disney. Afterall. I did not know when I would be coming back. Especially being married to a non Disney lover. Yes, I wonder also. How, did I marry a non Disney Fanatic? I guess, opposites attract, is a true statement. Don't get me wrong. He will come, but it takes alot of convincing, and pulling teeth. And alot of extra sugar to convince him. He is more a cruise type of guy. Cruising without the mouse of course. I love to travel. So, I will go just about anywhere, (no camping please)cruises, road trips, amusement parks. But, please put Mickey somewhere in the mix. At least once a year. He decided since we went to Disney in 2005. He will not go until 2008  . And he is sticking by that statement. Last year when I told him honey let's go for free dining. Now, this man loves to eat. I even offered to pay, everything. He said absolutely no way. I am not going to Disney until 2008. So, he has never been on site, nor has he ever tried the DDP.
Ok, no problem you wont go. I said. I will. So, I took it upon myself to go last year for free dining. I decided I would take my oldest son Xavier. He is a very respectful, and caring young man. A bit shy, and reserved. But, he keeps a 3.7 average in school. Plays several instruments, self taught. Plays the trombone, in his school band. On the side a jazz ensemble. He will go into Nisma, starting in Sept. He is very much into different cultures, and is learning different languages. Loves geography, everything Nasa. He wants to be a meteorologist when he grows up. We will make sure he has every oppurtunity to reach his goals! Can you tell I am proud?
Ok, well just like his mother. He loves Disney. But, I can see the older he get's, 13 now. He wants the bigger, and faster rides. So, Sept 18th 2006, we drop off our bags at the resort, and head straight for Universal.
2006_0101cherry0339.jpg
It was a surprise to him. As he thought we were only going to Disney. Boy was he surprised! Especially when, I made him ride. One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, with me. I know I know, it's a kiddie ride. But, I am a kid at heart. So, we rode. I love my son.
2006_0101cherry0324.jpg

So we are at Universal Islands of Adventure. I was so scared to ride Hulk again. So I let Xavier, ride 3 times back to back. There was no wait, at all. He had a blast all three times!!
2006_0101cherry0305.jpg

We then head over to the Mummy.
2006_0101cherry0347.jpg

We both loved it so much last year, we rode 8 times this day! We go on a good amount of rides, and are now famished, and pretty tired by now. So, we head over to Bubba Gumps in Cutywalk to eat.
2006_0101cherry0325.jpg

We had so much food left over. We took it back to our room, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.

Ahem, ok this is a Disney pre trip report that's right, I remember now. Where was I??
Once upon a time, in a land, far, far, away. Oh man, that is Shrek. Ok,ok, think Disney. Once upon a time. There was a Disney fanatic named Melissa. Who in her olden age of, 34. Decided. She will not be deterred by her husband's lackluster view of Disney! And, if she wants to look up the words to splash mountain to teach her children the song. Or err.. learn the song. Than by golly she will do just that! And, if she wants to continue to look at the menu's at allearsnet, for the hundreth time, to pick out what she would like to eat, what she will eat. What the kid's will have.. Or the food porn thread. By golly, she has a right to! :lmao: To be honest. I think my husband has it easy if you ask me. I ask for nothing but Disney. Ok, maybe, I ask for a little more. But, not much more.

Anyhow, hubby was adament. You are going in 2006, with Xavier, sure. We will take the next family vacation to Disney in 2008. We will go on a cruise to Hawaii, in 2007. Ok, so I have never been to Hawaii. Of course. I would love to go on a Hawaiin cruise. Who would'nt? "Sure honey. We can go wherever you want". I...I, really honestly meant it when I said it. I meant I would wait, to go back, in 2008. But, when I read the caption. In Feb, sometime, I believe. " Will Free Dining Return in 2007??" The tremors, came back. I started feeling feverish, quite jittery, actually. Numbers, of how much it would cost, flashed through my head. That, turned into me secretly checking disneyworld.com to find out, how much it would cost,:scratchin if I went alone. Over, and over, without mentioning it to my husband. I went over, how much, and when, and what if. Then it happened. The middle of March. My husband says. Hey, I am going to California, in April for a convention. I slept on it. Then, eureka ::yes:: I had an in. I would devise a plan to tag along to go to Disneyland. I did just that, it was wonderful, I went by myself to Disneyland, w/o the munchkins. My lovely mother watched them.. While hubby stayed in Hollywood on convention. I stayed at the Doubletree guest suites convention center in Anaheim. Ate at mimis, near DL. Ate at blue bayou, cafe orleans, both times I had the infamous monte cristo. I had a corn dog from the red cart, a mint julep, asparagus spears from the bengal bbq, drank this delicious beer, red trolley. Rode, the Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, California Screamin, Mister Toads wild ride,(use to be a fav of mine in DW) and a host of others. I saw the fireworks and spent 2 marvelous days in Disneyland. It was so different, but so nice! The castle was so small. But, it was way cool. I knew then, I would have to devise a plan. A plan to be able to go to Disney for free dining in 2007. A plan if there ever was one But, how?

Yeah, so glad you did a pretrip! Your son looks like he is having so much fun at Universal, we have never been there, someday. Looking forward to more!

Thank you very much Rebecca!! Thanks for the post! :yay: It has been a hectic morning. I have been busy getting the house in order, it was not to bad. I finished the laundry, and unlooading the dishwasher. I just finished cooking the turkey meat to go into the crock pot for dinner. We have to go to an awards ceremony for Xavier tonight, at his school. So, the earlier dinner is on the better.popcorn::

So how was I going to get around my husband' blatent, and downright. "No!" to Disney until 2008. Disney was my goal. I would stop at nothing to get there. So after we returned from California. I decided I would work on the husband all week. Made all of his favorite meals. Catered to his every need. I was a woman on a mission. A Disney mission! So, on that Saturday. He was laying on the couch. I said hey babymylove. I was feeling a bit unqueasy, for I did not really rehearse the words. But, I felt the moment was right, "How about you send me to Disney, alone for my 35th birthday"? Silence. He says "Ohhh, now I see what this was all about", and snickers. I say "what" in an unsuspecting tone. He says. "I knew you were up to something". "Sure" he says. "When are you going to go?" I am puzzled, and walk to the kitchen to ponder. It was that easy? He did say yes, right? So, I run to the laptop. And start pricing out, when I can go. I am so giddy, but trying to keep composed. I call my mother. Mom, I am going to Disney again this year!  She says really. I really cannot afford to go, your father and I really have to get the roof done on the house. Ok, mom. I'll talk to you later. So, I ponder, and ponder, and ponder some more. Ok, it will basically cost me. 1100 to go alone for 7 nights, at the Pop. But, I could go to CSR for 500 more alone. Oh that would be great! I always wanted to stay there. There was talk of the free dining, on the Dis at this time. Visa card holder's were supposedly, going to get first dibs. Then the general public, maybe. So, I thought what are the odds. The rumors are true. So, in this quest of pondering. Of me going alone. My DS Justin 5. Popped into my head.
100_0071.jpg

How could I leave my little pirate lover at home. Visit Disneyworld again without him. When all he talks, and dreams about is Disney. He is such a little ham. Is very affectionate, very giving, tempermental. He loves hugs, and kisses. Always, has the nicest things to say. When I am looking terrible. He says mom, you are beautiful. He helps out, vacuums, helps put the clothes in the wash, puts the soap in. Washes the mirrors, and helps keep his room in order. He loves to tumble, play, read books, and loves to take pictures. As I stated he is tempermental. So he has his moments. But, for the most part he is mommy's angel. He is a picky eater. But, has gotten better, since I have implemented. Do you want your name in the pot? What is this you ask. It is something I designed. To get over the challenges of his picky eating. I simply tell him. Justin today we are having spaghetti, with a salad. Would you like for me to put your name in the pot? He, says yes or no. He has only answered no once. The day he said no I said ok, and when it was time for dinner. I served the children' plates. Except for Justin'. He said hey what about me?? I said. Well baby, you said you didnt want your name in the pot. So, I didnt put it in there. He was so perplexed, as he sat there. He then said I do want my name in the pot. I am hungry. I said ok because, I have just enough of my food to share with you. So, he has gotten better. But, not all the way there yet. So, how could I, as a loving mother. Knowing he wanted to go in 2006 with Xavier and I. Leave him again. I just could not. So, I started plugging him in. Just him, and I. The price I got was not bad. Of course, I didnt tell my husband. I talked to Xavier about it. I told him. I was going to take Justin this year. Since,he stayed home last year. Xavier said good mom. Justin does deserve to go. I sure am going to miss Disney this year, though. So, at that moment. I knew I would take them both. So, Xavier, and I schemed of a way to tell Justin. Then I decided I would surprise him. So, shhhh, he doesnt know yet!! I cannot wait to see his face. When we load onto ME.:yay:. Justin's favorite park is..
100_0074.jpg

His favorite rides, are Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Dinosaur, yes that wild ride. Alot of adult's are afraid of. And last but not least...
2006_0101cherry0416.jpg

Yes, Tower of Terror. He just met the height requirement, when he went.. He asked to ride this ride over, and over again. I had to push past my own fear. to take him back on it. After four time's back to back on this ride. I was scared. He however, could have rode this ride. Until the park closed. I was not as brave. So, we moved on. Thank goodness. :scared:

Ok, so remember my parent's who could not go with us. Guess what? They could not pass up going, when they heard free dining, was back! My Father, is the biggest eater I have ever seen. Yet, he never really got obese. This is a picture of us. My mom, and dad, are standing. I am sitting.
Untitled12.jpg

Getting back to me saying my father can eat. He will get a half gallon of ice cream. Cut it in half, and that is his serving. You get my drift now? The man can eat anyone under the table. Probably where I get my eating habits from.:lmao: :rolleyes1 :lmao: So in our plans for last years free dining. We tried to look for places that had the most food. Well, let me tell you. He never imagined. He could ever be stuffed like he was on the DDP. This was his favorite place to eat. Hands down. Ohana'
2006_0101cherry0384.jpg

More later...

OH MY GOSH, those eyes! That's all it would take and he could have anything. Maybe your Justin will ride ToT with me. Mine said he wanted that to be the first ride we rode last year, he talked about it for months. Well, it was and he said after we were done, "I don't have to do that again ever". He liked Dinosaur though, go figure.

WOW!!!!!

Sounds great.... kinda makes me jealous! We are going this year, but this is pretty much a one shot deal for me! I WOULD LOVE to be able to go like that... but this trip has been 28 years in waiting! Of course, I am just excited to be able to go! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks ladies. I had to cut it short earlier. Because, I had to run out to Xavier's award ceremony. He got acknowledged, for the most outstanding band member! I was so proud watching him accept his trophy. I think he was rather proud hearing his schoolmate's cheer for him, as he accepted his trophy. It made him feel good. We all had a lovely time. :goodvibes

In the pictures you took of your son Xavier I was surprised not to see a single person. It looks like you had the park to yourself. It sure is hard to pass up that free dining if it was'nt for that I don't think I could've hooked DH again. Looking forward to more. I like your pics! Linda

How cool your parents are going! My dad is coming with me and DD (dh) is staying home, someone has to work for my DD 7th birthday. She loves her grandpa.

Your son is just to cute!

I decided I loved Ohana' also. But mainly because of this
Sorry, it is fuzzy. But, you can make it out hopefully. :goodvibes
2006_0101cherry0387.jpg

Ok, now I cook for a living. I love to cook. It is my passion. When people come over to my home to eat. They all rave about my food. I cook very well. Plus, I love to bake! However. I have tasted nothing so heavenly, in my life!!! That bread pudding. Is just the right combination of everything, that ever was good & delicious!

This however comes in a close second, maybe third to Le'ceiller' chocolate whiskey cake.
2006_0101cherry0398.jpg

I daydream about this schoolbread. :lmao: I know that is terrible. But, I do. I guess, because it was so delish. Plus, I bought one, and took one little piece. Before we ran to go on the ride, in Norway. I forgot about it wrapped up somehow.:confused3 Cream+heat+3 hours= Garbage. So, I cannot wait to be able to have another one in August!

My mom, is of course, the best woman in the world to me. She is definatley a character. She is more than a Disney Fanatic. Her love for Disney goes beyond mine. Why,& how? My mother, actually has a bag, of souvenier menu' from different resteraunts. Orlando books, that you get for free from MCO. From like 1987.:confused3 She has countless recipe cards from Disney resteraunts. The icing on the cake however, has to be. The napkins. Everywhere we eat. That has a disposable Disney napkin. She will take one, fold it, and save it. Why?? I do not know. She say's she is going to scrapbook. But, she never does. She even has the Mickey poncho saved, and in pristine condition from 1993. :rotfl: She is beyond a Disney Fanatic. If you ask me. But, I  her. Another thing. She is very much afraid of any rollercoaster type rides. Even though, in 2005 I finally got her to ride. Rockin Roller Coaster She swears off Space mountain. But loves Big Thunder Railroad. It is my quest to get her to try Expedition Everest this year. Since she refused to go last year. Just to let you all know my mom has bad problems with her knees. The doctors want to operate. But, she is terrified to. So she suffers in pain, daily. She cannot walk for long, without pain. So, she uses a ECV. She feels so uncomfortable. Because, she has gotten nasty stares. :sad2: But, she needs it. So, please if you see us, it is not because of her weight. So please be kind. :upsidedow

Ok, more about me. I love to eat. Oh, that's right. You all could have summed that up from my picture. Or, my confession of daydreaming about schoolbread. :rotfl: :rotfl: Ahem, well aside from me loving to eat. I am a very nice, simple, down to earth person. Who loves my family, and life, just in general. I firmly believe in no matter what the situation you are facing. Or how tough things are in your life.. Trouble, will not last always! Things, will eventually get better!:wizard: I get silly, at night. I love to laugh. I love to drink tea. I think I will try bubbletea. I think it can be acquired somewhere in Epcot. We shall see how this bubbletea expirement goes. Because, I do have texture issues. But, I do like to try new things, so I will do it! :upsidedow I am a little shy. But, once I feel comfortable. Everything is A-ok. I drink very seldom at home. Maybe, 1 to 3 drinks per year. But, when I am in Disneyworld. I drink one, to two drinks per day. I really want to try the citron slush in france? And I want to try to find a similiar beer like the Red Trolley. I had in DL. That beer was beyond good. I got over my fear of rollercoaster's back in 2002. So, I love every ride Disney has to offer. My favorite rides are Splash Mountain & Expedition Everest. Actually. I love all the rides from Snow White, on up. But, Spash&EE are my top two. I however am still secretly scared of the left side of Space Mountain. But, I keep it all inside. ;) So, don't tell Xavier.

Well, I was thinking that this pretty much sums everything up. My boys, and I. Plus my parents. Will be enjoying DisneyWorld, again! August 27th-Sept 5th. Staying at the POP. And I cannot wait. I am very excited! Can you tell? I think I will try my hands at making some more t-shirts to make the time go by a little faster. I will go out to AC Moore tomorrow. To pick up the materials I need. It will be a nice activity to do tomorrow! I also will decorate my window at POP, so I will look for some more pirate themed decorations! Just a little over 2 months. And Disney here we come. Yipppeeee:yay: :dance3: :yay:

I am loving your pretrippie already. You are off to a better than great start. I, too, love to eat and get silly at night!! I think the two are related somehow. We are thinking about surprising DS's 12 & 6 with Universal for a day but we WILL be staying at Disney and renting a car so that we can keep our ADR's (I know, I know). I can't wait to read more. Please don't forget your schedule for the days you will be there, you seem to be an expert at planning you day.

More please :thumbsup2

I'm loving your pre trip report! I can relate to your Disney addiction. I visited for the first time when I was 7 and then didn't go back until I was 29. I have self diagnosed myself w/ adult onset Disneyitis. :goodvibes

Congrats on your son's award, he is adorable!

Linda, That is just how it was. It was so great! We would get there at opening, and this is just how busy it was. :goodvibes
2006_0101cherry0353.jpg

Of course, as the day progressed. It would get a little busier. But, not bad at all. The most we ever waited in line. Was 10-15 minutes.
2006_0101cherry0307.jpg

Dudley's Ripsaw Falls. I was so terrified to try this ride. But, it was so much fun!!

Of course, you know I have to include food. :goodvibes
Margaritaville. Fried Fish sandwich. It was so delicious! The margarita I had was to die for too!! Yummy Yum Yumpsters!!

How cool your parents are going! My dad is coming with me and DD (dh) is staying home, someone has to work for my DD 7th birthday. She loves her grandpa.

Your son is just to cute!

Your daughter, is beautiful, as well!:goodvibes Thank you very much for the compliment!!I love that my parents tag along. Family, that is what it is all about! Anyway, it is so much more fun to share Disney! I know you, and your daugher. Must be very excited to have grandpa come along!! :yay:

Hiya StepDisney. :goodvibes Thank you for stopping by, and reading my pre trip report. Thank you, so very much for the kind words. Cool, another Diser, who loves to eat!! :yay: :yay:
I think your Ds's will love Universal! There is something for both of them! I really do love Universal, so very much! However, Disney is my first love and will remain. Aww, who am I kidding? I love them both, to be honest. Just two totally different experiences!! I do wish I was able to swing Universal, in August. But, I decided against it. Because. Justin, is just shy of the height requirement for the Mummy. (My favorite ride.)So that would mean I would have to skip it, or take turns, with Xavier to ride solo. So, I scrapped the idea. However next year we will all be able to ride!! Plus, I am taking a little side trip to Universal in October for Halloween Horror Nights!! Mummy Ride here I come!!:dance3:

If you do go. I would suggest your family take in lunch at the Thunder Falls Terrace. In IOA.The food is delicious! + the atmosphere is beautiful!!

Whatever you choose, enjoy your vacation with your family immensely!:cloud9:

Melissa, I so agree with you about the Ohana dessert. I loved it! My sons were talking with a lady who was traveling solo last year and she had wanted the pineapple and carmel sauce that they used to have. She was sharing with them and our waitress brought them out a bunch of it too. That meant there was more bread pudding for my dh and I. I'm disappointed that I could not fit Ohana in this year. I don't know why I let my sons pick 2 places each or I could have swung it. There's always next year!

Congrats on your son's award, he is adorable!

I too am loving reading this pre-trip report! I am afraid that I will come down with adult onset Disneyitis myself.... my last (and only previous trip) was when I myself was 7 and this trip will mark my 36th birthday. I can already feel the symptoms starting.... I check the DIS boards daily and am sad when no new posts on the threads I am already subscribed to... everything I do, all I think about is how much longer August is... it has become an obsession and I haven't even made it to Florida yet!

I also can't wait to meet some of my fellow Dissers while there!:dance3: :woohoo:  :rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl2: :cheer2:

Melissa,

My husband just walked in and asked me if we could book the place with the ribs and corn-on-th-cob. :rotfl2: . It looks soooo yummy I'm drooling :lmao:. We want more!!
