I was so excited I clicked thru the link and signed up. Read the fine print about if you're the first in the area, etc. but still kept my hopes up. I then went to check to see when this was posted (to see how quickly I responded) only to see you're from MADISON I'm guessing I'm in the same market area (Sauk City) - boo hiss. Oh, well
I tried for my area. OF course I was not picked. I wrote them to express my concern that they are taking everyones full name and address only to be told that you don't qualify. It seems to me that they could determine areas by just a zip code. I asked to have my name removed from their database. I don't need any more ads from anyone. You might want to write and express your concern also. I just wonder how many areas they were interested in and how many names they got to do whatever they want with.
I can't believe it -- I got picked also. Too bad we will be in WDW next week when my first box is due to arrive (ha!) Will just have to put the neighbors on a ClemWatch.
Praise2Him - My son think oranges are better but clementines are very easy to peel - my 6 year old daughter loves them just because of that!
BUMMER! I signed up for the ClemWatch program... but received this message back today:
We regret to tell you that we are unable to accept you into the ClemWatch program this season. You see, the new USDA Rule permitting Spanish Clementines to be imported and sold in the U.S. specifies that no fruit will be allowed into the citrus-producing states of Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana or Texas.
You may see some Moroccan Clementines in your local supermarkets, but no Spanish, which means no "Darling Clementines." So much as we would like to have you in the ClemWatch, we would not be able to ship your boxes of fruit to you.
Assuming all goes well this season, that five-state restriction will be lifted for the 2003-04 season. So we will have to wait until then.
Thanks again for your interest in the ClemWatch.
The Darling Clementines Team
Guess I can't be too sad though.. I leave for Disney in less than 6 hours! YIPPEE!!
It's actually been FUN checking out the clementines at all of the local stores. Thanks Robinb!! I never knew there were so many brands or how varied the quality was!! One store had a 5 lb box for $5.99 (great price!) but the fruit was PATHETIC. Another store had GORGEOUS bright shiny Clems but they were 9.99/box. (Ouch.) Obviously in this case, you get what you paid for.
My DS4 was sooooo upset when we went to several stores and looked at Clementines, but then didn't buy any!! He LOVES, LOVES clementines and would eat them all day if I let him.
I was picked also and I got my first shippment of clementines on Wednesday....I have to say it has been too easy for me to do this because there are only two stores here that carry Clementines....one only carries Darling brand for no less then $7.99....the other place I need to check out once a week and they change their prices all the time.
Thanks for the heads up on this--I got picked, too! Now if I can only find a store that sells them--I've checked two with no luck! I only get to do three out of five reports because the other two dates have passed, but that's better than nothing!
We were picked too. We will be out today Cleminetine shopping!
Sam's Club DOES NOT carry them. (Or at least didn't have them last night. Although they have all sorts of citrus.)
DH is a big clementine lover. He says they aren't around here often and very seasonal. He buys them when he can. Which isn't often.
