Free 1 day water park on arrival

I'm surprised to hear of people choosing to book an extra earlier night just to take advantage of this. Paying for entrance to a WP, especially for guests who already have PH tickets would be far more economical than booking an extra night at a Disney resort.
We always fly in the night before and stay offsite using a Free Night Certificate or points and then move on property the next morning so this is perfect for us. :)

Blizzard Beach will be closed on Sunday (1/12) due to low temperatures again.

I'm thinking that we will skip it during our upcoming trip but ready for that water park in September/October.

We were there on Friday 1/10 (we have passes). It was chilly but warm enough and it was fantastic to do all the slides repeatedly with no lines.

We saw a number of people wandering around on their check-in day. They weren’t in swimwear and just wanted to check out the place since they could.

I would have gone for a nice lie-down in a quiet lounge chair to enjoy the sunshine.

Last year I had the waterparks add on to my AP and I went often that winter, many times just lounging in the lazy river for 1-2 hours.

Blizzard Beach will be closed on Tuesday & Wednesday (1/14 - 1/15) due to low temperatures again.

It is good to see reports that Disney is automatically updating the arrival wp pass to an extended recovery waterpark pass when BB is closed for weather.
Well we have only had 1 report here on this thread and the poster could not remember where they heard this nor has anyone provided confirmation. Do you have a specfiic reference that you could share?

I saw somewhere that they let people go once during their stay when water park closed on checkin day. I have no idea where I saw this so it is definitely not verified by me
This is the only reference posted here on this thread and @MinnieMSue provided a disclaimer so your mileage may vary until we have a couple of confirmations on the specifics.

How many days is the waterpark recovery pass good? Can it be used any day within your stay so you can use it on a warmer day?

Hopefully Disney is giving out recovery passes if BB is closed due to weather. This would be excellent customer service.👍👍👍

Is this a case of more FB posts indicating this?

Dave
No, it was Becky Gandillon, author of The Unofficial Guide to WDW. She posted it on her Instagram. She was staying at the Polynesian and she noticed it in her MDE. I would not have posted it if it was a random FP person. She was actually surprised and said a lot of the CM’s didn’t even know. Here’s a screenshot she took. I recommend following her if you have Instagram, she’s a great source of information, unbiased. She’s not a Disney “influencer”. Just about everything is backed by data and she’s very smart!

That’s great to know! 3 day extension seems appropriate. Enough time to shuffle plans but not enough time to attempt some sort of system gaming nonsense.

Thanks for details. That confirms the part of the information about the 3 day window.

Yes, very useful to know it extends for 3 days. The FB poster I referenced only said she was able to juggle her park days to reschedule her waterpark days and was happy.
