Free 1 day water park on arrival

I have a split stay in May, I won't be using it on the first check in at Boardwalk as we are at legoland that day until late in the afternoon / early evening, but on our swap over day to Grand Floridian we will spend the day at the water park, we were planning on it anyway so this is a great addition.

It is available to all on-site guests regardless of how you book. It is just like any other extra offered to on-site guests. 1 day Water park valid on your check-in day.

It doesn't matter, I've rented DVC and still get it. As long as you're onsite it will be in your "future plans" on the MDE app

I’m closing in on 60 days out and wanted a cabana. Do we know which park will be open in April? Can we reserve cabana’s online or do we have to call somewhere.

Assuming your staying on site, when you’re signed in to the Disney.go website and looking at your future plans, does it say what water park is available for the free entry on in check in day?

MDE just shows you can go to the water parks and when you click on it, it shows a thing for hours which only shows blizzard Beach on March 28 which is not what I’m going. Hopefully they will update it soon although they swap back to typhoon lagoon.

The only Water park listed on the Calendar is BB through 3/28. No official announcement of a switch to Typhoon lagoon.

You’re welcome. Yes, usually by now they’ve switched back to TL being open. Kids love that wave pool, but I find it nerve wracking. Glad to try out BB on this visit

Yes that is now happening when the Water park is closed due to low temperatures. When was your check-in day?

They alternate, so one park open for a long period of time. Usually TL in Summer and BB in Winter. They do not switch daily or weekly.

I wouldn’t let cabana availability totally guide the topic since Disney can be inconsistent or even erroneous with loading such things, but in a +10 window Blizzard Beach Polar Patios are bookable through Tuesday 4/8, which I find interesting. They don’t have Typhoon Lagoon’s Beachcomber Shack info loaded online yet, so those aren’t searchable at the moment.

There’s an evening guest event at Typhoon Lagoon on Sunday 4/6 as part of the Springtime Surprise runDisney weekend, so one would assume TL will at least be open by then.

Still no hours in the app for either park past Saturday 3/29.

History and patterns would suggest Sunday 3/30 as the switchover date between parks, so the BB Polar Patio availability is either erroneous or something else.

Not the common logic around these parts, but I’ve always thought Disney will eventually open both parks as in the pre-Covid times someday. Not saying it will be now, just my feeling on the topic.

Guess we’ll see what they’re up to soon.

Another guess is that they will see how much the "free water park day on arrival" perk is used and whether both water parks are needed.

Last year TL opened on March 17th, in 2023 TL opened on March 19th. Both years BB closed at the end of the day, one day before. This pattern goes back for more than 8 years with some adjustments during the COVID years.

We have long assumed that the Water Park switch would again be around mid March again this year. However the Disney Calendar kept drifting past mid March but there has been official statement from WDW.

I will note that for many years the same staff switched parks when the switch over occurred. There have been no reports of mass hiring of Staff that would be needed to support having both Water Parks open at the same time.

Thanks, yes, I was one of the people that used to go to the waterparks when they were both open. We do enjoy both, but I prefer BB and was hoping it would be open in May, but we will just have to settle for whichever it is. I wish they would just open both like they used to in the warmer months.

I checked in last week but the waterpark was closed due to the freezing weather. Is it worthwhile to call them and see if they'd addit back to my AP?
