Day 11 Oops, I did it again! (thanks Matt for the song title) Thursday 19th October
Cast:
Me Joh, 33 On a mission to spend money
DH Gary, 39 On a mission to try and stop me spending money
DD1 Sian, 13 Please dont make me go shopping
DD2 Rea, 12 I wanna go swimming!
OK, so we had big plans for tonight so Gary and I had decided that we would go shopping today. The girls really didnt want to come so, after some discussion, we decided they could probably be trusted to stay behind and go swimming instead.
We set off for Premium Outlets at about 10, leaving the girls with some money to buy lunch and specific instructions not to get into trouble or speak to strangers (bit ironic really as wed been shoving a bunch of complete strangers down their throats all week
).
I wont bore you with the details but, needless to say, Gary was successful in his bid to prevent me from blowing our budget all in one go and so we returned a few hours later pretty much empty handed (with the exception of some goodies we picked up from Publix on the way back).
We joined the girls down by the pool another first for us as we never seem to be able to find time to use the hotel pool while were on holiday. It was actually quite chilly as there was a bit of a wind blowing so we didnt stay long.
We went back up to the room to get showered and dressed, ready for our surprise outing. The girls had been persistently trying to guess where we were going so Gary and I tried to confuse them (easily done really).
At 4:15 we went to the front of the hotel to catch our transport to WDW, where we had arranged to meet Sue, Sean and family at MK at 5 oclock. We arrived at the MK with minutes to spare and spotted the others queuing to get in. The girls ran over, obviously pleased to see them all again. Sean had arranged hire of an ECV for Joan so she could enjoy herself in relative comfort.
We claimed our trick or treat bags and park maps, gathered up the kids and off we went. First stop was Caseys Corner for a drink and something to eat. It had got quite warm again now. Joan got chatted up by a very friendly CM (from where we were sat, it didnt look like she was complaining though). We moved on round MK, taking in the sights and sounds and stopping along the way to have some pictures taken.
To be honest, I dont remember an awful lot about what we did and where we went but I do remember that Joan very kindly bought everyone a famous dole whip.
We also rode Pirates of the Caribbean, where we all admired the new Johnny Depp animatronics. They were very lifelike and really added something to the ride. Haunted Mansion was another must-see tonight and the girls drew quite a bit of attention from one of the male CMs. DH and I had a picture taken outside and were quite surprised to see an uninvited guest in our photo!
We decided against watching the earlier parade so continued our tour round the park, arriving back in front of the castle in time to stake out a place for Hallowishes.
Really enjoyed the fireworks again and, as we were all tired and had a pretty good spot, we decided to wait where we were for the second parade.
After that, we toured the park a bit more until it was kicking out time. Again, we were virtually the last ones to leave. I dont think any of us really wanted the night to end it had been fabulous. It was really sad saying goodbye to Sue, Sean and the others they had become quite a fixture in our holiday over the last few days but we had to bid them farewell.
We caught the monorail back to the TTC where we grabbed a taxi to take us back to our hotel.
We rolled into bed about 1:30, tired and having thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd MNSSHP. Thanks Sean, Sue, Joan, Kirsty, Kate and Ben for spending the evening with us. We really enjoyed it.
