HRH, I have seen both of those types of situations at WDW when we have visited....not the best of human nature. I have seen the 'electric cars' trying to run down as many footed pedestrians as they can and I have seen boys, dragging the inner tubes and knocking people down as they cut through the line at Typhon Lagoon, claiming to be 'meeting up with their family' at the top of the line. I took one of those boys on, once, right in front of a life guard, and I really thought that kid was going to deck me! DH told me never to say anything to kids like that again. He said he doesn't go to WDW to file assault reports at the parks. And, you are right, the lifeguards don't do anything.

If you are like me, you are the one who takes all the photos and the pictures you get from your vacations are of everyone but you!

You are crazy! I was thinking, hey! It's HRH- and then I read- that's not me Thanks for thinking of me on your vacation!

I can believe the kids are that rude. Not having any- those types of children usually are what I zero in on when I say to DH "Thank GOODNESS we do not have kids!"

I was really upset with myself, too, for letting them tick me off like that..I was really defensive of my DS9, he's a little guy, and all he wanted to do was cross the pool. My DH came up at the end of it, I had been shaking my finger at the smaller one and the brat said "DON'T SHAKE YOUR FINGER AT ME..." and all I could think was, "shaking my finger is the only thing keeping me from wrapping all of them around your neck!!" I told DH about the encounter and he said, "Don't worry, they'll be doing time in the future.."

And the lifeguards...while all of this was going on, I kept saying to one of them," Are they supposed to be doing that?" "no" "Aren't you going to do something about it?" "hey buddy, hey buddy, get out of the pool..." I was ready to pop her a good one, too! I finally yelled at the top of my lungs, "KNOCK IT OFF!!!", and they actually stopped to look around. Then they just started it up again.


Maybe I'm just too hard on my kids, but if I ever saw them talk back to an adult like that, they would be hearing a lot more of it from me, whether they were right or not!

Yep, that's me...and one step further, I stop and offer to get a shot for someone taking a group shot so they can be in the picture. I did that about 4 times this trip...

This year I did a photopass, and I'm sure that many of the pics will show DH with a smile that says, "if I don't do this right she's gonna kill me when she sees the picture." and DS's look will be " I hate this, I hate this, I hate this..." and mine will be "please let just ONE of these da**ed pictures turn out so this will be worth the trouble!"

I know what you mean about being protective- I am that way with my niece and nephew- There were plenty of times I have been with my niece and she was trying to be nice to some little kids and they just acted SO rude! I always wanted to (picture this) walk up to the little kids, put my hands on my hips, and say- "EWWWWW- you are SO rude!" The parents would think I was nuts!

No- I have seen some really snotty little kids out there! I can only imagine what the parents could be teaching them at home about playing nice with other kids - not much, it seems!

That was one thing I kept thinking...if these kids are so blatantly disrespectful, they learned if from somewhere...what if their parents walk up and see me yelling at their kids...what are they gonna do to me??? Luckily, that didn't happen, and the park was closing right then. But the next two days every time I heard a kid with a British accent, I thought it might be them!!

My kids are the kind that will stand in line and let others keep cutting in front of them.. it drives me crazy, but I am learning to let them do for themselves...unless I need to go, then I will stand there and not let anyone cut in...I'm THAT mom..


Oh yeah, just to be honest here...my boys are very polite/respectful/shy to teachers and other adults, but they can be pretty rude to me at times.

I then walk the child to their grown up, and say "Hi, I found your son/daughter doing [insert unacceptable behaviour here]. As I a parent I know *I* would want to know that my child acted this way." Most time 8/10 the parents are very thankfull and little Johnny or suzie get a talking to.
There have been the occaisional times where parents just don't care, but most of the time the kids usually actually come back and apologize for their behaviour.
Oh HRH, I have actually gotten in that pool at BB and shadowed my DS (he has Asperger's Syndrome) as he crossed the pool. When older kids (mostly boys) would try to push him off or jump onto his iceberg I would just say "you don't want to do that..." I'm not that tall (5 ft) but I have the "Mommy Voice" and the "Mommy Look" that put the fear of god in them

Hi Friends,

We had a great time at WDW but were glad to leave as the crowds were so intense on Sat.

Christmas was wonderful and it is soo much fun to see DS open gifts and now playing with them. I had hesitated on the Fisher Price bike ride TV game but he really does like peddling and get ABC's and 123's.

The TV came out of the box as the first present! We all waited in baited anticipation as DH plugged in all the power and the HD cable, he hit the power, it flashed and then went off. Well, 20Xs later and a call to Sharp, who works on Christmas day, it was determined the TV is broken and needs to go back to the store. It was sad and comical.

I am now in the mood for financial recovery and wondered if there were any free offers for Quicken out there?

I know that my DH would like to share that rock with yours at times. ..I can't help it, the mother bear just comes out of me...My DS9 has ADHD, and he really concentrates hard on things he likes to do, so when he was trying to cross and the kids were jumping all over the place, I was ready to jump out there in the water, too. It was all I could do to control myself. Now I know it wouldn't have done any good, I would have had to physically move those kids, then I would have been in trouble. (Plus I'm a shorty, too-5ft2, the older kid outweighed me by about 50 pounds.) I still can't believe I didn't ask them where their parents were...I was so livid, I had to focus all my energy on trying to keep from REALLY making a scene..Another lifeguard came over after the kids were all ready to start across again and was in back of me. I asked him "Can't someone do something here?" He said, "It's really hard to keep the kids in line.." HUH???Isn't that your job? I was standing in front of the lifegaurd megaphone, you don't know how bad I wanted to pick it up and start screaming at everyone to GET OUT OF THE POOL!!!

Later I asked both of my boys if I embarrassed/upset them by yelling at those kids, they both said "NO" and they were glad that I did it...so that made it OK in my book...



Ohmyheck, we noticed the park crowds definitely picked up in MK on Saturday..but it was still at a managable level. We had been at AK earlier, and not real bad either..I was definitely glad it was our last day at the parks, we went to BB the next day. It was sunny but pretty cool, so not really crowded there either. All in all, we got to do everything we wanted, some of it several times..so it was a success in my book!! Hope you had a good time, too..

Heart Condition Led to Disney Death


ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A pre-existing heart condition caused the death of a man who was stricken while riding a Walt Disney World roller coaster, the Orange County medical examiner's office said Wednesday.

Jeffery Reeb, 44, of Navarre, was unresponsive when removed from the Expedition Everest ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom on Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at Celebration Hospital.

Everest debuted in 2006, simulating a runaway train ride through the Himalayas.

Following Reeb's death, the ride was reopened Tuesday afternoon after an inspection found it was operating properly.

Prior to Reeb's death, at least 15 people had died at Disney's theme parks in Florida and California since 1989, some with previous health conditions.

My coworker mentioned this to me like the day after it happened. It's sad to think that he was probably there on a family vacation and now he's gone. He was very young.

Well for all those who have dealt with a rude child it is so true it is because they allowed to be like that at home. I always rember having what I like to call a heathly fear of my parents. I would never act like kids do these days. I also know my DD who is now 20 never acted like that. When she was about 3 we went out to eat for supper and she acted up so much that we had her walk to the tables around us and say sorry to everyone for disrupting their diner. She never did that again. But a lot of parents also think when they go to a pool and there is lifeguards they are there to watch the kids for them so they do not have to.

0hmyheck, I am glad you had a safe trip! I wish we could go to WDW some year between Christmas and New Years....but DH doesn't usually like to leave home in the winter. He doesn't feel like anyone else takes care of his animals as good as he does....sigh.

I will keep my eyes peeled for the Quicken. Usually, Staples or Office Max will have them on sale at the beginning of the year for the upcoming tax season. I should look around....would you be interested in an older/outdated version if I have one here I can send you? If so, I will take a look and let you know.

I have been shopping since 7:00am this morning. I am a marathon shopper, believe me, but I am even worn out today! With all of the shopping before and, now, all the discount shopping after Christmas....I have had enough! My arm and leg muscles are screaming!

I went out today, too. I went to Ulta and got the Smashbox freebie, Lowes to pick up the calendar kit that we missed last Saturday...nice of them to give it to me, DS& was really bummed we were going to miss that one...why??? Went to Michael's, Target, and Sam's and the only Christmas clearance I got was 3 rolls of wrapping paper and a couple boxes of Christmas candy/cookies....NO DECORATIONS-which I do not need..so it was a good day! I got the batteries that I forgot on Christmas, and came home..After all that I came home and just about collapsed in my chair..fell asleep! I guess the past week finally caught up with me. Now I have to gear up for DS7's birthday on January 12(he wants a bowling party)And I haven't unpacked a single thing yet!!! It just never ends.

Do you want to play a little game...first off, I don't know the answer, but it's fun to guess.

My DSil and her family (2 adults-4 kids) left two days ago to go on a Disney Cruise. My guess is that this is the primest of prime times for cruisin'...Can you even imagine how much this is costing them??? I am sure it's for a week, and they are DVC members, so that would trim the cost a little, but what do you think the retail for a week between Christmas and New Years for a family of 6 would be??? I don't think I could even enjoy a vacation that cost me that much, but I guess DBIL makes an obscene amount of money...we are not in that league at all...

Anyone want to play?...I would guess that a trip like that with all the trimmings would run about $20-25 grand..anyone want to guess?

Maybe someone that is familiar with Disney Cruises will help with that quiz answer. When we were considering our cruise, we got tips from a friend as to how to make the trip cheaper. At that time, I also asked for a quote for Disney Cruise and I was at the price difference compared to a 'regular cruise'.

Maybe I'll go look it up, just for fun. I can tell you this, since DH loves (not) Disney AND (not) cruises so much, and we don't have more money than God, I don't think I'll ever be seing the inside of a Disney cruise ship...Unless I retire to Florida and get a job on one swabbing the decks..

DH and I went only because we're DVC members and we had extra points one year we had to use. He had never cruised before, I've been on a Royal Caribbean, which I thought was much nicer(IMHO) From what I heard Disney cruises are more expensive than other cruise lines. I guess if your thinking of a bottom number, you have to consider not only the cruise cost itself but drinks, tips, excursion expenses, souvenirs, etc. That adds up!
