I could use some as well! DH and I have been building a house and are getting in the finishing stages. We are so blessed. We have had our house FSBO for a little while and today we had a showing. They gave us an offer that was $10,000 under our asking price-- however in this market its still a GREAT offer. We are really up in the air as to what to do-- I think we will try to negotiate a little further-- but keep your fingers and toes crossed for us. We really dont need two mortgages. And then we might have to move somewhere else until ours gets finished will be a decision for us to make as well. Keep us in mind too!

Thank you to whoever posted the Jan Brett's book deal. My daughter's school just received the book with a nice letter and the librarian just called to thank me and they are also taking her picture with the book tomorrow.

We negotiated a little and decided that $5,000 under asking price would be the perfect deal for us (and without a realtor-- so we are making SO much more than we would if we had it on the market with a realtor paying franchise fee's, listing fee's, etc). We are super excited! We are collecting earnest money and signing contracts today. We sold it to the first people we showed it to-- thats pretty exciting!

How many of you are working the day before Thanksgiving and still plan to cook a "Thanksgiving meal". At this time of year I wish we had an adult at home who could cook and prep for the holidays. I would be happy to be the only one who works outside the home or vice-versa (as would my spouse); however, we can not live on one paycheck. So today, after work, I will mix the pie dough and refrigerate overnight (as the recipe suggests). Tomorrow, after work, I will roll out the dough, put it in pie pans and freeze. And so on. I finally decided to create a work chart for the ten days before Thanksgiving, just to decrease the holiday stress. Any suggestions of items that can be prepared ahead of time (other than the pie crusts and overnight rolls)?

Our contractor tells us to expect to be in the house around Christmas time-- however, Dh and I are a little unconvinced. I imagine we will be in sometime just after Christmas. The lady said her lease runs out Dec. 31... so I imagine she will want to make the transition around then. Hopefully the house will be in enough shape to atleast get our stuff over there-- if nowhere else other than the garage. If we have to stay elsewhere for a while it wont be a big problem. We do have a cat and two dachshunds-- so they would be my main thought through all of this. We are just so happy things have worked out. Now we just need to push our contractor a little harder-- and hopefully we can make both transitions move smoothly and we both can get into our new places around the new year.

Hi Ladies (and Gents too, if you are out there )!

I am going to post this on both the Chat thread and the regular weekly Freebie Thread.

I have received several PM and emails voicing concern over the chatting that is going on on the Freebie Thread itself. Don't forget that there are some serious Freebie people who are in a hurry to get their Freebie information and get going. They have no need for the chit chat between the Freebie posts.

I know that that is why the FREAP Chat Thread was created to begin with, so this is just a little reminder to keep the Freebie Thread free from clutter and to have fun on the Chat thread.

Beth, I mean no disrespect to you and I really appreciate all that you do. This comment is not directed at you at all.

This is directed to the people that are complaining. What is so SERIOUS about sending away for a tube of toothpaste? Besides, I am no Evelyn Wood graduate, but I can recognize and skip over a chit chat in about 5 seconds. If there's no link, there's no freebie. The chit chat has cut down dramtically, but once in a while it is just easier to say something where you are than to post "let's go to the freebie chat"..and sometimes it is pertinent to the freebie being posted.

It really doesn't happen that often, I don't see what the big deal is to run to Beth and *******..

I think it's ridiculous! I don't remember anyone complaining before the chat thread was started. Now it seems like every other day there is someone who thinks that they are the freap police!

I tend to skip over the chat on the freebie thread quite a bit. I've never found it all that difficult...

Isn't it funny how anytime something is created to simplify something else, it just creates more complications?

There is not need to be mean when people voice concerns. And there is nothing wrong with people turning to the Mods instead of leaving themselves open to ridicule on the boards. Believe it or not, even *I* can be very careful about what I post on the boards because sometimes people can be not so nice. And saying that someone is tattling isn't a very nice thing.

I took at look at ONE page of a Freebie thread (I chose it at random - no one "pointed" me to any one page) and half of it, in my opinion, was just chatter.

Let's try to keep the threads what they were set up to be - the Freebie one being one where you post current Freebies. The Freap Chat being the one where everyone can keep up to date on their fellow Freebie addicts.

Please let's be friendly to ALL DISers and try to keep the Freebie Thread for that - the posting of Freebies.

MR. DB- baby is soooo cute!! Sorry to hear about your troubles though. It's a bad time of year to be having job difficulties(not that any time is a "good" time). I'll be sending some positive thoughts your way.

I totally agree on the complaining about chitchat on the Freebie thread. What is up with that? If you don't want friends, find your own stinking freebies!!! (That's a joke BTW. I just want folks to realize that this isn't like trying to save Darfur or something.) Lighten up! And I love the complaintfreeworld link thrown in whenever something like this comes up.

OOPS BethR! I just read your last post and realized I was being mean. I'll try to do better even though it goes against my nature.

Could we start a new Freebie thread that allows chatting? We'd have the no-talk thread where people can go just for the freebies, and the freebie thread that would allow some discussion/clutter without any fear of reprisals.
I'm sorry, but sometimes there's a freebie that begs for comment! And I agree--going back and forth to the Freap thread isn't always workable. Heck, I just started checking out the Freap thread recently.

I'm serious about this.
