FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

Madd, all these chainsaws remind me of the trip DH and I took to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror night about 6 years ago...that sounds like its right up your alley, have you ever been? I don't like jump-out-and-getcha scariness, but it was pretty cool if you could stand back and just watch the creeps chase people. I'll never forget this, we were standing in a crowd watching some kind of spooky show (to distract us..never turn your back on any thing..) and I saw a chainsaw guy creeping up on this very large lady..he revved that chainsaw behind her, her eyes got as big as saucers, she ran faster than anyone I have ever seen. She ran so fast, she ran out of her sneakers...:rotfl: :rotfl: and then she was afraid to go back and get them... They have lots of haunted houses, which really don't do anything for me, but it was fun to watch all the goings on..

YES! It was a long time ago- 1996! I think that was when the FOX channel used to be there covering it. Do you remember that!?

It WAS awesome! As soon as they took your ticket to get in- the chainsaws started! The whole park was dark- and creepy. DH and I were walking in some dark area of the park talking and ....ALL OF A SUDDEN! :scared1: Out of nowhere....there was thing zombie thing RIGHT next to me and he put his face in mine- scared the stinking bejezzus outta me!

It was really neat the way they just had these things randomly walking around.

Not sure if they still have the parade- but that was really cool. The Crypt Keeper was in it. Remember him?!

Believe it or not- as many times that we have been to Disney- that was our ONLY time @ Universal (we went to the one in CA years ago) it was strange b/c when you go there- you can "feel" you are not in Disney anymore-

or as I like to say- "We are not in Kansas anymore"

Oh yes, I agree, as soon as you enter the open area (Port of Entry?)before all the rides, it is smoky scary...:scared1: Lots of demons on stilts..those guys were really cool..I liked them because I could really get a good look at them and I knew they couldn't CHASE me. I had my picture taken with a demon guy on really high stilts..me standing in front of him, him bending over me with his hand and 6 inch finger nails going down my face. Me cringing.. That year was at Islands of Adventure..this year in September on our way home from WDW, we stopped in for a few rides at US. They were setting it up at US instead this year..

We went in one haunted house..jump out and getcha stuff. It was a "Die in theater.." All the guys were there, Freddie, Jason, Michael. Mercifully, the lines were way too long(Saturday night, what were we thinking?) to go in any of the other ones..missed the scary clown one..yikes! There was also a LOT of drinking/drunkeness..I'm no prude, but I don't like people bumping into me because they can't stand up!

I was given some good advice by one of the people we went with. If you keep your eyes open EVERYWHERE and can spot the creeps sneaking around..make eye contact with them and they will leave you alone. They want to surprise you, so they will move on to someone else. I don't think they had a parade, if they did, we missed it. They pushed a woman around in a clear coffin with live rats crawling around on her..that was enough.

I can't wait til my boys are old enough to take them there and scare the begeebers outta them..:rotfl:

I actually bought Annual passes to Universal this year. We took the boys for a long weekend end of June. They had a special, AP's for $190(I think) with an extra year free. So I figure we can scoot down there for a weekend every once in a while. I like staying (not the price!) at the Hard Rock Hotel..definitely over our price range, but well worth it with the front of the line priviledges they have. Their pool is awesome..and it is DEFINITELY a different attitude/feel than Disney. More adult, IMO..I guess the frequent "beer stands" compared to the ice cream stands at WDW is a giveaway...

The first time we went to HHN was a couple of years ago and I had gotten tickets for both the boys and DH. DH got sick on the trip and so I ended up taking the boys and...let's just say I prefer my ghoulies standing in one place! ;)

The monsters, chainsaw guys, and creepies can spot a confused and jumpy mom from across a foggy studio street! They followed us EVERYWHERE and jumped out at us to the point we could hardly move in any direction! The boys thought it was cool! :sad2:

I loved the performers on stilts that blend right into the walls and you don't see them until 'the wall' starts moving out at you! :rotfl:

Yes, they had "rock" guys, and "vine" guys..they just stood against the wall, then reached out for you in the dark..:scared1:

I can imagine you guys just standing still in fear, well you anyway. While your boys just laughed at you. I wonder if DH was REALLY sick...sounds suspicious to me.. How old were your boys? It says you shouldn't have anyone there under 15, I am wondering about that. I think mine might be able to handle it in a few years..but then again, they won't go on Snow White at WDW, so maybe not!

They had the Die in theater when we were there- They let the N stay unlit for the night.

OMG- I get SO creeped out by ANYONE on stilts! YUK! I went to a fall festival a few weeks ago and there was this dude dressed up like Uncle Sam on stilts- man- get away from me :scared1: - he said "Hello" and tipped his hat! I wanted to push him down and run like the wind!:lmao:

I think it has something to do with one of my past lives- I am also afraid of jesters. I must not have found them very entertaining WAY back then.

You are exactly right! :lmao: I basically was stopped because my continuing to walk seemed to bring everyone out of the fog at us! :lmao: The boys were laughing their heads off and were practically dragging me to keep moving! :lmao: There was a chainsaw guy that kept coming out of the fog at me from behind....shades of Freud! :rotfl:

The boys were 13 and 16. The youngest one begged for 2 years to go back so we made it back for HHN last October.

I know what you mean about being around the 'stilt people'! Last year, at USO, they had a guy in costume on stilts in front of the Mummy ride. He chased me and, darn him, that guy could really move on those stilts!! :rotfl2: He caught up to me and I could feel him breathing down my neck, he actually leaned down and touched the back of my neck, and I could hear him growling beside my ear!! I could hear someone screaming...they were just screaming and screaming....then I realized it was ME!! :lmao: I laughed my head off! I loved that guy!! :rotfl2: I have a picture of him around here somewhere.

On that first trip, DH had fought so hard not to go on vacation....he is such a workaholic! We thought he had had a heart attack and he ended up in the hospital under observation and running all kinds of tests on him! Grrrrr...he was fine. I think he had just put himself into such an anxiety fit by leaving work behind that he had some sort of episode. Can you imagine fighting a vacation so hard that you make yourself sick!?? That's my DH! But, I think it scared him so bad that he has gotten much better about taking time off since then.

C'mon...you're not afraid of that creepy ghoul at Spirit, but you're afraid of a really tall Uncle Sam??? I would say that you may be right about issues in your prior lives...

Wow, first let me say, I'm so sorry about your DH..He sounds a little like mine...although mine will take a vacation, he used to be very difficult to pin down for one. He once worked himself into a horrible depression, complete with insomnia for a month over work..He has gotten better, different job, location, people...still stresses out way too much. Glad yours has realized the importance of recharging..

Now, back to the stilt guys..YES! those guys at Mummy are awesome, and they CAN move. They were perfect, they looked just like they came out of a tomb. And those eyes..they use guys with a dark complextion and put whitish/bluish contacts in their eyes- the eyse just POP!!...they are sooooooo creepy.. None of the ones I saw made any sounds..but while we were in the gift shop we saw one of them position himself right outside the exit. So we stood and watched him scare the life out of every one who went out the door...too funny!!

Thanks for thinking of me! I have seen those around- however, I am not a fan of the blow up decorations- they seem to be "high maintenance":lmao: You have turn the blow up thingy on and off!:rotfl2:

I did the exact same thing yesterday..just add about 20 pounds of 1/2 priced candy..I love ANYTHING over 50%, I always say I'd buy DIRT if it was 75 % off..I got a bunch of little black flashlights (about 4 inches long) for a quarter, and they included batteries!! My kids love flashlights..

I think I'd like to add a store to the KMART SUCKS reputation..I went to ToysRUs for a super sale that started at 5:00 today and goes through tomorrow. I went for IFish (like IDog, only a fish...:confused3 )my kids have wanted one since last year..they were $35 last year.. They had the IFish for $4.99, so even though I had no babysitter, I lugged the kids over to TRU telling them that they were for Christmas presents and they immediately had to forget I had them as soon as I bought them. I got there at 4:50, parking lot was pretty full, of course..I found ONE IFish..ONE FISH, TWO VERY COMPETETIVE BROTHERS..you do the math...So I found a clerk, then the manager. He says that they went fast, no rainchecks, no more-they had 20..I am livid by now. So without further details, without insulting/attacking him personally, I told him the company tricked me into coming in there..for crying out loud, the sale didn't even start yet and none left???

After realizing there was nothing I could do, I walked back one more time to skulk at the empty spot where I snatched the single fish..low and behold...way in the back... :dance3:  :dance3:  ANOTHER FISHY!!!! I was so happy, I could have danced..Then I went to look for the Wii version of POTC game, $19.99, out.. so I think I will still make my phone call to corporate headquarters, substituting POTC game for IFish..

I DID pick up 2 PP purse toy thingies for $4.99 each..and dropped them in the Toys For Tots box on the way out. I got a nice "thank you" from a couple of VERY handsome young marines...God Love Em.. I would have had three, but I saw a neighbor girl in the store and gave her one of the coupons. Later I saw her and she had crumpled up the coupon saying she wasn't interested...ACCKKKKK!!! That's valuable merchandise, sister!!

Other than the boys fighting constantly ALL DAY (no school) it has been a productive day shopping wise. Although I did threaten to give the IFish to some children who will appreciate them, because the boys were acting up in TRU..

I went to K-Mart to get some toys for the cycle run on Sunday. I had my (2) PP coupons.

DH and I got a bunch of toys (including 2 PP @ 5.29 ea) We went to pay for the toys and I kept the PP and coupons last to ask her if they even take these coupons. The cashier had to call another person over, that person said, no we do not take that kind of coupon but let me ask the mgr. Mgr said no- they do not take internet coupons.

The cashier said to me, "That is stupid, K-Mart has online coupons, they won't even take them" :rotfl: Whatever, I told her I don't want the PP.

Those darn things are so small anyway- kids can just scarf down a whole PP ensamble in one sitting and no one would be the wiser!?:scared1:

We could tell our kids that there are children in China who would appreciate the toys we were going to give them.....hey, it worked with dinner, right? :confused3

Oh so true!

So, asking some opinions, are the stores that are having financial trouble the ones who are refusing to take the internet coupons?

I won a bag of Montana Coffee Traders' Huckleberry coffee beans in a fundraising basket auction and I don't drink caffeine and DH doesn't drink flavored coffee. I think I will split the bag into two bags of beans and I will send the 2 bags out to the first 2 DISers that post they would like to try this coffee on this thread. REMEMBER: You need a coffee bean grinder to use this coffee. :goodvibes
