YAY!!! both kids went to school today and no phone call to come and get them! DS7 was Ok when he woke up, then about 30 minutes after eating complained of a stomache ache again. I said, "I'm sorry, but you're going to have to try to go in today." I felt bad, but thought I'd give it a try. He had a field trip and I thought the fresh air might do him good. I wrote my cell phone on a piece of paper, stuck it in his pocket and told him to have his teacher call me and I would come and get him if he got sick. No phone call!!! And when he got in the car to come home, he seems to be back to his old silly self....hope this is over, but we have tomorrow off so I don't have to worry about any more absences!!

So while my kids were in school, I was out and about Savannah, ridding the Walmarts and Targets of all their leftover goodies..I bought so much candy, you wouldn't believe it. I got DH his PayDays and Heath Bars (6 bags at $1.12 each...), got a big bag for each teacher, and then I stocked up on pinata stuffings for birthdays. DS7s is in January and DS9s is in March..I checked expirations...most of this stuff doesn't expire until late 2008!!! That's gotta make you feel good about preservatives!!

I also bought up some of the little prizes for school/cub scouts next year. I must have spent....well, I can't even say it.



oh yeah, madd...........the things you originally wanted from Spirit were bad enough, but NOT THE CLOWNS, PLEASE ANYTHING BUT CLOWNS!!! I'm glad your spree was successful, I would have given anything to see you in there with your old lady shopping cart...carrying around all those creeps in it.

First of all- not to dissapoint anyone- but I did not get my creepy guy! I did get one for my friend who could not get out of work early though. I wanted to spend 60 bucks and get a few things instead of just one. anyway......

Hee hee! I was at Spirit @ 9:30 AM today, they opened at 10. There about 10 of us in line. I had my "old lady grocery cart" with me and ready to stuff it! I swear I have one- got it at a yard sale a few weeks back for 7 bucks! Pulled that baby outta my trunk and walked up in line- people were J-E-A-L-O-U-S! I have arrived! Peeped in the window to see where my items were located.

AllI can think of as I sit here in tears trying not to wet myself is.... "Madd, you'd fit in great here in the French Quarter with me....Especially with the old lady cart full of ghouls!"

Someone at my house also soaped my car windows- I didn't notice until this morning. The only thing that pissed me off was the fact they took my good soap out of my shower, you know the kind that costs a few bucks a bar and smells yummy!- and they used that I went to take a shower this morning and I was thinking- WHERE the heck is my soap! I found it later on the back porch-- NICE! Like I can use it now. ding dongs.

Oh, I'll tell 'ya...I spent over $100 on half-price stuff! Only a few dollars of that was candy. My DH is going to kill me. I found candles that drip "blood" when you light them at Walmart....muahahaha!

Madd...I love the tombstones and spiderwebs. Those are the kind of things I got today at the sales. I want to put fresh dirt out and put the headstones at one end. I didn't think of stretching the spiderwebbing to the plants/flowers. That looks great....what other clever ideas do you guys out there have with your decorating??

OH DEAR GOD! I HATE clowns- but for some weird reason- I bought one. I also have one downstairs that my brother bought me, it is a bobble head clown with the evil grin, sharp teeth and he is hiding a knife behind his back.....

We can hang out and wheel our old lady carts around and pick up some treasures! ....while we look for real ghouls- I hear you have LOTS in N'woleans!

It has been so warm here I could not throw out my plants and flowers- so I had to incorporate them into the decorations! I just thought of that myself.

I did not get a pic of them- but I spray painted my morning glories that were on my arbor- black. They are just dying off now b/c of the cold- but the paint did not hurt them a bit!

We did go to a house in our developement and they had a whole graveyard set up with some creepy guy walking around- and some dude chases you with a chain saw!

Do they do that kind of thing where you live!?

Our local paper also has a "best Halloween house" contest for decorations. But I am sure it is like that all over the country....right?

What kind of "friends" do you have?? madd, your decorations look great, I bet the kids love it..

I already took mine down..they aren't put away, just inside the door. I found this black "pine" garland at Michaels and wrapped it around my column and my door jamb. Then I had purple rope lights that I wrapped in with the garland. I have a black spray-painted grapevine wreath for my front door, but it's kinda silly, with wiggle eyes peeping out from twisted neon colored pipe cleaners. I DID hang my skeleton ..but I still can't find the doggone noose..I bought a fake styrofoam chain and used that to hang him from the tree. It still looked like a noose. I did it up better last year, but we only have about 40 trick or treaters, so it's really not worth it-we're in a cul de sac, so only our 3 neighbors ever drive by. I also put out pumpkin head scarcrows sitting in lawn chairs. Last year, DH handed out the candy, and he sat in a lawn chair among the others with a cowboy hat on and lowered his head...then jumped out at the kids..meanie!!! (not the little kids)I bought a fog machine last year on sale..but DH couldn't be home to hand out candy, so I was afraid to leave it running-and I have a great CD with screams and such, but I was afraid someone might mess with my player. Our subdivision does a lot of leaving the bowl out on the front porch, help yourself. I made up bags and still had about 18 left...so no greedy ghouls this year.

I also had a creepy "up and down" screechy skull thingy to put over the doorway, but couldn't get it to sound activate. So funny, my ex neighbor across the street had the stupidest dog..barked in the middle of night, real nuisance. She bought one of those "up and down" thingies and kept it on all the time..sound activated. The stupid dog would sit out in the yard and bark at the thingy for hours..every time the dog barked, the thingy would scream and go up and down..Every time the thing screamed and went up and down, the dog barked. I miss my neighbor like heck, but I am SOOOOO glad that dog is gone!

Nah, the community we live in is pretty conservative...they don't do much around here for Halloween. It could have something to do with the fact that we usually have snow on the ground for Halloween though. Might be hard to run from the chainsaw man with your costume on under your wool coat that goes down past your knees.

Madd, all these chainsaws remind me of the trip DH and I took to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror night about 6 years ago...that sounds like its right up your alley, have you ever been? I don't like jump-out-and-getcha scariness, but it was pretty cool if you could stand back and just watch the creeps chase people. I'll never forget this, we were standing in a crowd watching some kind of spooky show (to distract us..never turn your back on any thing..) and I saw a chainsaw guy creeping up on this very large lady..he revved that chainsaw behind her, her eyes got as big as saucers, she ran faster than anyone I have ever seen. She ran so fast, she ran out of her sneakers... and then she was afraid to go back and get them... They have lots of haunted houses, which really don't do anything for me, but it was fun to watch all the goings on..

just when I thought it was over and DS7 was getting better, it started coming out of the other end..............oyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.........I gave him some Immodium right before bed, and it seems, SEEMS to have stopped..Now we will have constipation to deal with.....Is this ever gonna end??? They don't have school today, so I guess today I will try to put away Halloween decorations and clean house...hahahahahahaha, like that's gonna happen............
