FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

It's cold & drizzly here in Central MA but the weather is looking better for the opening of the Red Sox/Indians series! :cool1:

Let's go RED SOX!!!

DH will be an (unwilling) Pirate Jack! They look very similar....well, except my DH has light hair and he weighs over 200 pounds....but, other than that.....very similar! :rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: I tried to talk my DH into being Jack also. He said he will do it grudgingly. Too bad I don't look like Elizabeth Swann. Ok, I sorda do except I weigh at least 100lbs more than her :scared: . Oh, and I don't have an accent. Unless you count southern :rolleyes1

Yep, that's me, too....only ALOT older....but I'll have to work on a southern accept to keep up with you! ;)

I am guessing if you have not heard yet, then no news is bad news.

What a bummer, my 2 kids are avid readers. Perhaps I did not gush enough in the application. But please, my mom was a children's librarian, we have more bookcases than any other furniture, I read like a demon, and my son has every Henry and Mudge book on the planet (Mudge is a mastiff, so my son thinks they are books about our dog-I have already warned my DH that the next mastiff will be named Mudge if DS has any say). We are the bookwormiest family I know (in a cool way, not a geeky way, OF COURSE :lmao: ) so I am in a state of mourning now.

But congrats to those of you who got in!!:thumbsup2

Don't feel too badly. It's not about their reading program. It's their themed monthly kits that they have on the back page of the order forms. There are five so far: Little Einstiens, Nick Jr., VeggieTales, Build-a-Bear, and Magic. The first three will have books to read, but at a very young level. Much younger than Henry & Mudge.

I WISH it was their reading program.

I think I must have missed an email. Perhaps some of the house-party veterans can enlighten me. I received an email on Sept 28th confirming my application and stating I must reply to confirm my email address, which I did. When I confirmed I was taken to a page that just said, “Thank you for validating your address|”. Then today I received a 2nd email saying, “While you were among those applicants chosen as "host finalists," as noted in our last email, you were not among the first 1,000 to confirm their host status by setting up their party as described in that message.” What??? I only received two emails, I did not receive one saying I was a “host finalist”. Did the rest of you receive three emails, one confirming your application, one telling you to “set up your party” and then one confirming that you were accepted to party?

I got an e-mail saying that I wasn't accepted. BUMMER. But, my kids are 5 and 7, so probably out of their age range. We haven't done the CN one yet. We didn't get our package until really late (5:30) on Friday. We're having our "party" on Saturday afternoon. popcorn:: Hope the kiddies like this cartoon :3dglasses , otherwise I'm sure they'll be ripping through my house :scared1:

I applied when it was first available and yes got the confirmed application one, (my email was already validated), and I got one inviting me to set up my party proper. If you don't do all the steps; invite, post photos, & post to the blog; you won't get accepted. I then got the confirmed one from houseparty within minutes of setting up and another confirmed from Scholastic today.

Today i got a book in the mail from Random House from Luanne Rice titled "Dream Country". Did anyone else get this?

I did get chosen for the scholastic party. Im really happy about it.

Hope everyone is well-- i havent checked in in a while. The weather here is chilly!! I see it is most other places as well!

What's the temperature in the rest of the country now? Is it still real hot everywhere but around these parts?

YAY! NJ finally has some real fall weather! It is 60! The wind is blowing, the leaves are falling and the sun is shining!

Life is good!:dance3:

There was a chill in the air here this morning, too. Had to wear a light jacket when I walked the dog...about 58 degrees when I took the boys to school. This kind of weather is heavenly, it warmed up to about 75...

I got my two toothbrushes today, they were different Spongebobs for each boy..that was nice..and in their own envelope, so no arguing over who gets which one..love it when life is made simple for me..

I was going through the freebie thread while my kids were watching a movie and I kept laughing out loud. popcorn::

I LOVE the little note taker guy and everytime I see him he makes me smile - but now he's got competition from the little ignore guy:goodvibes

And the pumpkin' eater...

And the Pet Soup...

My DH was like "what is so funny" :confused3

I try to explain but I end up looking like an idiot (a little like "you had to be there")

Thanks for keeping me entertained.

April, I have sent so many of my friends (parents of kids on the spectrum) to your TR tread and everyone has the same reaction... they grab the tissues

We are walking this weekend at the Autism Speaks walk in Boston.

Our t-shirts say
"My kid has Autism - and All I got was this lousy t-shirt":rotfl:

None of them get it, don't even try to explain....

You have a great spirit for the challenge you have been given..Hope the walk was a success..:thumbsup2

I got curves ceral this week, a makita bean for DH, and reynolds parchment paper.

What is this

ETA: OK, I googled it. I thought it was some type of coffee or something?

OK, I know what Makita is (DH used to go to the "Tool Shack"-a hardware store, not a gay bar:rotfl: ..- and have his picture taken with Miss Makita...:sad2: )...but I still don't get Makita "bean"...?? Is it a ..................hat?:confused3

OK, for that remark, I will bring the little bugger out for myself.....

OK....call me _________(fill in the blank, like ad-libs) but I cannot figure out what a makita bean is....
If it's something like a tobagan (which I also needed some help with) please tell me before I explode!:rotfl2:
