FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

By the way Madd, I am so incredibly JEALOUS! I live in the subtropics with beautiful weather and a pool surrounded by palm trees and fruit trees, but I would still give anything to get away to Mexico!! Sounds crazy, but it's true! BTW I was at Marshalls with my daughter on Sunday looking at swimsuits, and she said, "Mom! OMG who would pay $50.00 for a swimsuit!" And I turned around (thinking of you, of course!) and she actually had a Juicy Couture suit in her hand! All I could do was laugh!

:scared1: 50.00 bucks for a Juicy!!!?

Sounds to me like I got sca-rewed!!!!!

You have to say to your daughter- "Now honey- there are suckers out there who pay too much for this exact bathing suit:headache: - now you must learn to jump on these things when you see prices like this!":dance3:

MT,
The sore thoart is how DH started with it. When he first told me he had a sore thoat I told him it was telling me I spent to much money last month 50 million times.:lmao: :lmao: .
I hope you knee surgery goes fine
I should be at work but I had to go for my mamo. today and it hurt. I now have to wait for the DR to call and see if I need to go back again today. So I said I guess I will go home and wait. Home is closer to the DR than work.

Oh! Good luck with your surgery!!!!! Hope it is nothing serious!
I have a small tear in my meniscus that needs to be repaired. I feel that I am lucky! I must have done it sometime last summer or fall and it didn't hurt all the time....until I got down on my knees to wrap some big presents at Christmas time. Goodness knows what I probably did to my poor knee then! :sad2: I went to the doctor just before we took our trip because it was hurting so badly and I wasn't sure what I did or if I should be walking with it. I didn't see the Ortho until we got back. Now, I am fielding calls from everywhere to get things set up. It's not supposed to be a big deal....!! :rotfl:

Anyway, I won't be able to get around for about a week after the surgery so I fully expect to get my trip report posted next week. :thumbsup2

I already told you how much I envy your trip....you should have a great time!! :cloud9:

I thought I had already been through the cold that is going around.... - sigh -

I am having knee surgery on Monday and I don't want anything to interfere with that!!! :headache:

Anyone that has just been through the creepin' crud....did it start with a sore throat??

I have had it & the H has had it too (notice no D!) It starts with the sore throat and a mother of a headache :headache: If you sit up too fast your head will fall off
lost_head2.gif
Then you get those "can't get warm, I'm too hot" chills, and you can't swallow spit because you think that if you do the razor blades stuck in your throat will KILL you

Hope all goes well with your surgery!

Yep, mine did, and DH, too. Ous ended up being more like a sinus infection..Mine is still lingereing slightly after 2+ weeks, DH is TILL sick and he is the one that went to the DR. and got meds. I am waking up for the past two days with a slight sore throat, if I get this thing all over again, I am gonna be p***ed...

Sometimes Zicam works for me to ward off colds..the stuff on the Qtip swab you put in your nose. It's worth a try. My DMIL takes mega doses of Zinc and Ecinacea(sp) when she feels on coming...good luck hope you don't get it, it ain't fun... :scared:

:rotfl: Well, I am having all those symptoms so there may not be any surgery on Monday! ARG!! I thought I had already been through the crud....only mine was a mild form....DH must have had the full-blown version!

I just got off the phone with the surgery center and it sounds like they want to put me to sleep for a 30 minutes arthroscopic procedure!! :scared1: I don't like being put to sleep. I would much rather lay there hearing them do everything.....surgery is no walk in the park no matter how easy it is supposed to be. :headache:

That's breath taking, gorgeous!!!! I'd love to see a photo in the spring, I bet you have a beautiful view!!!
We do have a beautiful view here. The view to the east, of the Rocky Mountains, is the best.

We live out in rural farm country and, other than the farmer next door to us that has a 50 acre gravel pit, it is quite the place and we love it here!

Watch it on the Zicam.....it is rumored to cause loss of smell and while sometimes that might be a good thing :rolleyes1 it wouldn't be nice to be a permanent thing. I don't know positively, but a GF had told me this and googling snopes says undetermined.

Well- it sounds like you will need a nice warm Mexican beach to recoup from your surgery! I bet if you tip them enough the waiters will bring you some food along with your drinks!

easy[/I] it is supposed to be. :headache:

:lmao: Just to let you know how bad I am with pain- I asked my dentist to put me to sleep just to fill a tooth! I cannot imagine being awake for ANY kind of surgery. Just to let you know- my dentist (who is a MD for goodness sake) said he does not put people to sleep! What man? that is why I chose an MD!- You will all be glad to know- the filling of the tooth took place yesterday and I am happy to say- I am still here to talk about it:rotfl2:

Maybe they will just give you an IV with some good stuff to "relax" you- that is what they gave me when they did by breast biopsy, my doc said, it will just relaaaax you, happy to say, I did not know a thing until they woke me up- I was fine to walk out of the center though.

ETA- uh- oh- I think I should have gone to a DDS- DMD !!!! Is that where I messed up freaps?:rotfl2:

.

Unfortunately with laparoscopic procedures they will put you under, not just sedate you. They don't want the distraction of you (the patient, not nec. you) talking, being tense, etc. so it is easier for them to operate while you are under as your body naturally relaxes. If it was a surface surgery - like a breast biopsy (mine was done as an outpatient procedure and only a local), they don't mind so much as they are only "scratching the surface".

I am with you guys I want to be awake to make sure they do what they should. DH said it is a controll issue I have.:rotfl2: I say I just want to make sure if they start with 10 things on the tray they end with 10 things on the tray. Its a math test thats all:lmao: I have had to many surgerys and I do not like the hang over from being knocked out. I only like the hangovers I cause myself:rotfl2:

There you go! :thumbsup2 My feeling exactly....it is so hard on the body to be put under! Sometimes you are recovering from being knocked out, not the procedure. And, there is nothing wrong with counting the tools as you are leaving the room! :rotfl2:

Madd....that was one of the best parts about the cruise....those employees works soooooo hard and meal times were a joy to every woman on the ship!! :goodvibes You barely get your plate emptied and they come grab it away from you and you can RUN back to get more. We ate alot of fresh fruit on the ship to keep from gaining weight and we both still gained 5 pounds in the 6 days we were onboard.

I have been sucking on those Zicam quick dissolve tables with vitamin C. They upset my stomach if I don't have food in my stomach but they seem to work. :thumbsup2 My nose runs constantly in the winter so I figure it would be a worthless battle to put anything up my nose. :confused3

Sorry so many of the Freaps are under the weather. I'm feeling pretty crummy today too with an itchy throat, cough and a fever. Add that to the icky rash that I've been calling the mange:rotfl2: , and I am not happy. I do have something to cheer about, though:cheer2: , DH has come around to the idea of a WDW trip if they offer free DDP in Sept. again. WooHoo!

I dunno, I used to feel that way until I had a c-section. They were like "Ok, you shouldn't feel anything now..." and I say "ah, well I still feel stuff", they say "Oh you are feeling tugging sensations..." "No I am feeling excruciating, burning, cutting of flesh feeling". Then they decided that I actually was "feeling something".

Althought I have to say I have never been "under"

MTB - I hope everything goes well for you. DH had tears in both of his knees repaired too...

Well, that will certainly be on my mind the next time I use it! I don't overuse it, in fact I am lucky to get any where near the recommended number of dosages per day. I have a peculiar sense of smell anyway, sometimes I can smell very faint things, some times I can't smell dog poop until I almost step in it!

What a wimp!!  I detest novacaine, and always refuse it. I would rather deal with the drilling pain than needles and numbness that never goes away!! :rotfl: My old dentist was an extremely kind man who hated anyone to be in any kind of pain. I used to watch his brow break out in a sweat when he worked on me sans novacaine...:lmao: I finally agreed to novacaine with my last crown, and he was as happy as a clam. I didn't tell him, but I still felt it..

I LOVE that IV that sends you into LALA land. I had carpal tunner surgery on both hands and each time I had it, I fell asleep anyway. No ill effects from it, but no ill effects from anesthesia when I had it for thryoid surgery either..

mtblujeans, I hope you get better so you can have your surgery...? If that's what you want?
