Freaking over Pop warner week

Changed ressies from Dec. 1-9 to 8-16. <Fingers crossed>

I Thank everyone for there input.

We decided not to risk Pop Warner week, even though we'll overlap a little.
I think it'll be OK.

Let the countdown begin :)

I would choose Nov 24th to arrive. We went this time last year and we are going again the same time this year. It was really nice. You could really tell the difference in crowd levels that following weekend. I believe that was the PW start date last year (Dec. 2 or 3rd) But all during the week it was so blissful..walk on to almost everything.

We arrived at that time, too, in '05 & really loved it. You can go to one of the first MVMCPs, if you choose a weeknight it will be less crowded & there may be a discount-
We are thinking of braving POP for the 8th-11th for a DISmeet Friday night at JellyRolls--maybe we'll just wake up the the PW kids with our raucous antics :teeth:
But even I am thinking of pitching that trip to DH as a perfect Poly time! ;)

Well, we're going Dec 2 - 10 and don't have the option of switching as that's the only week DH can take away from work. When I heard it was the same week as PW, I was concerned, but as our only other choice is to not go at all, it's a no-brainer really. ;) We're staying at POFQ, has that traditionally been one of the PW resorts? If it is, I guess we'll just have to deal with it. Maybe I'll bring along my pom-poms! :rotfl2:

I have been going in Dec for years and it is not that bad. I stayed at POR and had had many squads there. They aren't that bad. Yes the food court can get a little crazy at prime time for breakfast but I always got the food and took it back to the room before starting our a crazy day. You just have a lot of happy girls around wearing the same colors. During the day they are at competitions at the sports complex. The parks during the day aren't anymore crowded because of Pop week. You will not regret going during this time.

I would suggest making all your priority seating in advance. That was the only thing I found a little more difficult. There are large groups with the competition so definitely make them for dinner.

I know that the original poster changed plans, but for anyone else wanting another opinion, we've found that Pop Warner week is fine as long as you stay at a different resort from the cheerleaders. If you read most of the posts about this, the people who had the worst experiences are those who stayed at the same value resorts where the kids were. The food courts and buses get overwhelmed, and they've been known to be very noisy in the hallways and outside at all hours. We've stayed in moderates during Pop Warner week and only encountered a few stray kids and parents who elected to stay there for whatever reason - no big groups at all. And they're barely noticeable in the parks because they're busy with their practices and competitions during the day. The few groups we encountered in the parks were fairly small and were chaperoned and, while they were somewhat boisterous, they weren't out of control. We hardly even knew they were there. The trick is to stay at a different resort, and you'll be fine.
