I don't think everyone is going to accept/embrace FP plus. I also don't believe it's here to stay. MDE will remain, but not FP plus. Disney is never going to succeed in convincing the majority of their guests that making ride reservations is a good thing. I know that a lot of people are happy with FP plus, but there is also a lot of dissatisfaction.
Yeah, it's a much better business plan to keep shoving FP plus down people's throats. Additionally, I was only talking about FP plus. I wasn't talking about any other part of MDE.A company doesn't invest a billion dollars in something to discontinue it and for the vast majority of Disney visitors, non type-A theme park commandos, FP works. I was never a big FP- person, just never used it and didn't feel like running around grabbing pieces of paper in the morning. FP+ will probably work better for my type of touring which is a more relaxed go with the flow thing. I get my three reserved and move on...I will definitely see about what might be available for a fourth and probably grab it. I do have a few musts...A&E for my little girl, BTMR for my son, 7DMT for us all.....we have eight days and plenty of time...
With a thread like this, titled the way it is, you will definitely draw like minded people and the vocal few who jump on any anti-FP+ thread. I am noncommittal and have passed this thread by numerous times because I didn't want the negativity....great...it doesn't work for you, we understand.....move on....I finally came to the last page because I was "surprised" that the thread still existed. You have skewed the responses with your title. Anyone who has used FP+ and had a good time will pass the thread by because their experience was different and they are not interested in hearing the haters...it gets old...the arguments are the same since FP+ was first announced.
Earnings are up, attendance is up and reportedly, guest satisfaction is up...it is truly an egalitarian system that does not favor the uber-users and that has disgruntled a small, but vociferously vocal, minority of WDW guests. Even on a Disney board, I have not noticed a "spike" in FP+ hate threads, in fact, I see less of them and when they do pop up, you can be sure the same five or six users will be the first ones to post...as they have for almost two years now. Then again, I stopped looking at thread titles that indicate a negative view of FP+ because I choose to ignore the negativity and bashing that occurs on these types of threads. I am sure there are people that do daily searches of FP+&hate so they can rehash their personal grievance with the system and how it has changed disney forever for them....again see my earlier statement about why I chose to skip this thread until now.
FP+ and MDE are not going anywhere...you don't walk away from a billion dollar investment..not good business.

Agreed. By the time they're done tweaking FP plus it could be almost identical to legacy FPDisney didn't spend a billion + on FP+. MyMagic+, yes, FP+ no. MyMagic+ is absolutely here to stay. I'm sure the virtual FP+ aspect, and the prebooking aspect, of FP+ are here to stay as well, but I would not be surprised in the least to see the details of it change over time (changing booking windows, changing parameters of use like they did when they allowed the 4th FP and beyond, etc). There's a lot more to MM+ than just FP+, though.
A company doesn't invest a billion dollars in something to discontinue it...
You are 100% correct. They don't. No company decides to make such a substantial investment so that they can pull the rug out from under themselves. But then, companies are run by people and people sometimes make mistakes. And when they realize that they have made a mistake, they will try to fix it. And if the fix doesn't work or becomes a sunk cost, they will discontinue the effort.
Disney would not be the first large company to abandon a billion dollar initiative because it didn't provide the promised results. That's just good business.
I'm not sure which are the top sites but you see a lot of disagreement on wdwmagic.
Exactly. Lets not forget attraction buildings that are setting empty right now that could house a new attraction without using additional land!WDW has the property and the park goers to add new attractions, if they wanted to. Instead they invested in a ride rationing system. IMO their priorities are skewed.
Even WDW's own Facebook account was getting slammed with complaints...that is until they started deleting them.
They are not allowing Express Pass usage for their moderate resorts and I doubt that they'll change anything when it comes to the deluxes but who knows. I agree that high demand can cause problems while those attractions are still hot but that too could change. It'll be interesting to see how they go forward.
Here we go again with the "vast majority" assumption. And I think the assertion that it works great for "non-Type A" people is exactly reversed. Who stays up to midnight 60 days in advance to book popular attractions and experiences? Type A's or Type B's? FP+ does not work great for people who walk up to the ticket booth and buy their tickets the day they arrive. Or buy their tickets at the hotel at check-in. And it doesn't work great for people who have not been to WDW in a while and haven't kept abreast of the major changes. And it doesn't work great for people who have never been and never even heard of FP+. And it doesn't work great for people who don't do much if any pre-planning. So who do you think the "vast majority" of guests are...People who have the familiarity of Disney's inner workings like the sliver of the population who post here, or the rest of the civilized world? FP+ works great for uber planners. ..what I would call the Next Gen Commandos. It does not necessarily work great for more relaxed guests. I do not believe that Next Gen Commandos are the "vast majority". It's sad to say, but FP+ works great for "us" on this board because we are the cognoscenti. But that does not translate to working great for the masses. We are simply exploiting our superior knowledge to get an advantage so it only seems like it works great for everyone.for the vast majority of Disney visitors, non type-A theme park commandos, FP works.
What I don't understand is why people who don't like FP+ are dismissed as being a small group of negative nellies, Legacy FP+ commandos, or people who don't like change. I don't think anyone should be pigeon holed for how that feel about FP+, whether they like it or not. Here we go again with the "vast majority" assumption. None of us knows what guest feedback Disney is receiving, but I do know what I've read on various non-disney fan sites and the feedback on FP+ is not rainbows and unicorns.

And I'll admit that I don't either. What I look at is the thread on the Strategies Board about the woman who hadn't been to WDW for 30 years and got flustered about the complexities of planning her trip and I look at threads where people talk about throwaway room strategies and staying up until midnight to book FPs and then I ask myself which type of person is more common. I don't know. But I have my hunches.I don't know which side is bigger.
I don't see a return time before 3:55 and that is at the least popular park. Not true for us.
