FP+... who hates it

Please accept my apology. The quote got "chopped" and I did not see the bolded part. I will retract.

All good I knew the minute I hit post it was messed up from my end and it would not be seen correctly. I will have to practice more :)

Besides me?

Just back from Disney and I think that they TOTALLY missed the boat with this program.
Why only 3?
Why so few FP+ kiosks in the parks? Really, I should wait 30 minutes on line only to be told that there aren't anymore fast passes left?
Why can't I FP+ at more than one park per day?
Why can't I access FP+ from my mobile device while in the parks?
Why are the non-fast pass lines so darn long when the park isn't that crowded?

We went a couple weeks and and got way more than 3 and great choices, and in more than one park, and no lines at the kiosk, and "non FP" lines were non lines were short-and B ride lines were short as well.

We also did Universal and Express pass is better... hands down.

You are on to something here though-us staying Deluxe at WDW should get fotl all day-hope it's implemented soon.

FP+ does not work too well for us at all. I have no idea how I will be 60 days ahead of time!

A couple weeks ago every headliner was available inside the parks "day of".

Yep, I hate it. We went 3 times under the old fp and once under the new system.

There is another thread by someone who is or was just there and was able to get plenty of FP's in one day. I guess it's either luck or proper planning. :confused3

I know I'm going to kick myself for biting on this but define abuse.

i define it by people that would get fastpasses and hoard them to use one after the other later in the day instead of going during the 1hr window.
going during the 1hr window was always the rule but it was not enforced.
i always followed the rule so i usually didn't get more than 3 fastpasses on any given day where as others would collect 10 and then use them later just because they "could".
i had no problem with them enforcing the rule but everyone that was abusing it then complained complained complained about having to follow the rule.
people that abused the system are now finding that they really cannot abuse it with FP+ and it angers them.
i like FP+ because it helps to make sure everyone is following the rule not just the honest people.

I think it is this new system and the quoting. I quoted and bolded the statement that those who like FP- were all abusers...THAT is what I was saying was baloney. Just because we like FP- over FP+ does not mean we abused the FP system and I resent the accusation.

did i say EVERYONE that LIKED FP- abused it?
nope.
pretty sure this is what i said...
"it seems like its generally the people that used to abuse the FP- system that are not a fan of the new system in practice."

Here we go again...

Posting about disliking FP+ will continue to happen for the duration of its existence, however long that will be. It's that unappealing to a lot of people. Besides, plenty of people I would guess haven't read the continual back-and-forth here on the Dis and the intense dislike of FP+ is new to them- since they just used it on a trip (see OP).

I like FP+ just fine. It's really nice to get to the park and have three fast passes guaranteed. I didn't like the rope drop dash to the fast pass distribution each morning!

Wow. Just... wow.

Wow. Just... wow.
Yep....we didn't take advantage of multiple fp's- (lol....because we don't tend to be headline riders and before fp+ didn't need fp's for most of the secondary rides)but when I read the post you referenced I had the same reaction as you to the post

I don't like FP+ for my family. I liked being able to repeat rides and not having to stick to a schedule when we didn't want to. I LOVE FP+ when scheduling for a big group. I'm chaperoning a band trip and got 40 FPs for headliners when we just have a few park hours each day (4-6). We have to meet up with kids a few times anyway so now we have the FP times and guaranteed rides on headliners even on days where we go into the park late. We are only doing Epcot though in the evenings on a few hopper days for short periods so no Soarin I'm betting unless the standby line is miraculously short since we got FP at our morning park. Maybe on EMH late???? For my family we prefer the Uni Express Pass now by far!

I have been misquoted in post #23. I never said that the headliners were not available.

Please fix. Thank you!

After their first 3, did they get a FP for anything except secondary rides that never required a FP at all before?

Just got back after two weeks and the first week FP availability was pretty good, even same day - and SB waits were nice and low for many attractions. I think even Touring Plans revised their crowd level estimates downward for that week.

The second week, though, was the exact opposite. FP's were gone very quickly and by late morning/early afternoon selections were poor. I felt sorry for the people standing in long lines at the kiosks knowing that when they go their turn they were only going to find attractions that they probably could have spent less time the SB line than to stand in line getting an FP for it.

Between a couple of weeks in Nov/Dec and a couple of weeks this month, I'm seeing a pattern - when crowds are low and SB lines are short, FP selection is pretty good even same day. When crowds are higher (7+) and SB lines are longer the FP selection is pretty poor very quickly - and a lot of the headliners are gone a day or two before.

Definitely takes more planning than it used to.

As to the comment about long kiosk lines, I took this picture Thursday (3/19) at MK:

It's information for folks-not sure what you mean.

Just pointing out that 'non planners" would not have had a problem "day of" when we were there-much less at 60 days.
