slowly getting through the thread...we don't go to WDW until thanksgiving so hope most of the bugs will have been worked out by then!

we will have the Premier AP since we have trips to DLR also this next year...
question on the app for the phones...I don't have a smart phone but DD has an I-Touch will it be available on that???

Yes. She can upload the current version of the app from the app store today if she wants :goodvibes

And this will happen to many families, I suspect, just in the natural course of aging.

The key is, will FP+ and its presumed limitations force this "growing out of Disney" earlier for teenagers since the days of multiple FP's for the mountains is over?

And if it does, will it even matter as more and more "young families" come in to take their place?

Time will tell.

Many families have kids at various ages. I think the mountains were the consolation for some teens who would have rather been at US but compromised so the younger ones could be at Disney.

What I see is this exiting that family out of the mix faster.

I suspect they will see no options like those who buy the youth education tickets. We did about a third less rides this trip and we will cut days next trip because of it.

Hi Granny square. This addresses two questions on the first page and I don't understand anything about the question or your answer. I have very limited experience with YES and Military Discount. Could you explain your post a little more so I can add it to the first page. This is new information or at least new insight.

I am not an expert. But I do know that there was no option for us to use the fp+ this trip. Our rooms were dvc.

I only know what we experienced so not sure whether that will help anyone. I will say that I got the generic disney response when asking about the option before we left.

thanks! will have her do so!

Just know that the app is a work in progress so a lot of the things "coming" aren't there yet. In fact the apple version is leaps and bounds ahead of the Android version. Just tell her to be mindful of getting the updates for it.

Have fun! :goodvibes

maybe we will wait for a bit then....so what is the actual app name?? now I can't find it on the thread...

This is the piece of it that is most perplexing to me. Every single thing we know about touring Disney could now be changing. It might not, because that would require a change in human behavior. But it sure might.

Rope drop might only mean quick access to one ride instead of a full hour or two of great access.

Previously easy access attractions (HM, Philharmagic, etc.) might now have a steady stream of FP+ folks slowing the standby line.

It sort of makes my head hurt just to think about it. But then if those folks have used 1 FP for HM and one at 9 AM for Space, then they are relegated to standby most of the rest of the day. And what does that even MEAN to the wait times?

I'll be happy to study this one from afar for while.

bcrook....... what is the rest of your party saying about all of this? Or have you shared your concerns?

I went to dinner with my October traveling group last night (My June trip is just my parents and me and the wife - that is the trip my teens don't have to worry about missing the rides!). The October group is 4 couples and older teens (11 in all). One of my friends is a systems analyst for a major company and as I was describing the changes he was getting so excited about the business end of it. His eyes got all glassy with the potential Disney is gathering from the data alone. He said for casual visitors, all they are going to remember is the personalized experience. He understands that my experience is going to be severely changed, but he pointed out that I am THE EXCEPTION! Everybody at the table was excited about getting together 60 days before the trip and planning what Food and Wine tickets we will purchase and choose some personalized experiences for the group. They were all very excited!!! We are calling it a "linking party" because we will all synch our My Disney Experience Accounts.

I am very excited about the getting together for the "party" 60 days in advance. :goodvibes BUT, I am not excited about the "linking" part - that aspect of the app is a nightmare. :crazy2:

Of course this is the middle aged group planning for wine tasting and casual rides on Kilamanjaro Safaris. I don't know what the poor teens are going to do. Maybe they can enjoy the beautiful amenities of KIDANI and spend a lot of time at Splitsville. Maybe I don't even have to buy them a ticket. My kids are 19 and 17 - they can just drive over to U/IoA.

Cheer up! I am sure by then that part will work better than it does now (right? maybe? hopefully?)

I have 2 2-day base tickets from last October, when DH and I took an anniversary trip using APs, but go the minimum tix for free dining.

In June, we're taking the family, and staying off-site (just can't afford Disney's plans for a family of 5! lol)

The kids will have 10-day tickets from UCT, but DH and I were going to add days to these unused tickets.

My question is, if FP+ is fully running by then, with no FP- available, will I be able to schedule FP+ for our whole vacation for all 5 of us, or just 2 days worth for DH and I, and all 10 days for the kids?

I really appreciate your first post, it's great to see everything together!

My guess is that you won't be able to book any FP+ in advance for days not connected to a ticket. Once you link your tickets to your My Disney Experience, I envision FP+ days opening up to you.

Another question for page one, will Disney immediately offer you ticket options online so that you can extend your stay? I will add that.

I just reorganized the information on the first page. I think your question goes under the Tickets section. Can you tell that I am a librarian? ;)

I went over my idea last night with my husband for park hopping between Disney and Universal, while staying at Universal for FOTL access. He loved the idea. The only kink of course is that we're planning on DLR this year! :lmao:

If you're a family used to spending most of your time at Disney, but step off-property to Universal for a couple days, it's really not that much more to just have a longer Universal ticket and go for more half days. You wouldn't need the hopper option then at Disney OR Universal. Single park per day access would do the trick.

Schedule all your FP+s early or late in the day, then head to Universal the other half of the day. Wanna do space twice? Schedule it 2 days in a row. Wanna use one FP+ for MSEP? Do Universal early that day and Disney late.

Once you have a car, it also opens up a whole new world of cheaper food options.

Currently, I am leaning toward not buying AP or non expiration tickets. I think I will buy tickets for October later and for the June trip all of our days will be Resort days! We are looking into visiting SeaWorld and Universal.

I don't see how anyone can see being limited to 3 fastpasses with possibly just one 1 headliner as simply a new attraction. Will the new visitor really look at the list of rides and say that they're so glad to be able to ride one headliner without a lengthy wait? Maybe I give people too much credit...

I was comparing the ability to get a bunch of FPs to the old ride that your family loved, but which Disney felt was not getting used the way they thought it would. The new ride is the new fangled technology-driven full vacation experience which offers a handful of front-of-the-line passes for millions of guests who never knew they existed or maybe thought it was too complicated.

They had to get rid of the old ride to make room for the new one. Disney is sorry that you miss the old ride (the old fast pass system) but this is progress and this is going to make for great marketing for the first-timers.

Disney knew thousands would cry they changed the FP system. Just as they knew that thousand would cry when they replaced Mr Toad. But a few months later look how much people loved the new Pooh ride.

The new visitor didn't look at Pooh and say, it really sucks that they took out Mr Toad. They thought Pooh was awesome! They're going to think that the ability to ride a few rides with little to no wait as awesome!

Why did you do less rides? Not much has changed yet, except FP return enforcement. b (I'm just curious)

Disney is advertising that FP+ is a feature of park admission. So it would seem that they will be accommodating in some way for all classes of tickets. However, if there is a class of tickets that cannot be obtained in advance in any way, then those guests may be shut out.

As for YES tickets, they will need to provide the tickets codes in advance for those guests to be able to take advantage of it. Just like they'll need to give them for AP purchasers who don't get the tickets sent to them in the mail.

That is a problem for us - we are buying military tickets at SOG when we get there, which is how the military tickets work. I don't know if we will be able to do the FP+ at all, which could be a good thing, but not if there are no more FP to be had. Someone said DVC reservations would have access, but will they let you book FP+ without an actual ticket number?

The yes tickets also are only offered a couple of months ahead of time. Our room was booked 6 months ahead.

JIMMY: Hey check it out dad. Grandma's up to 975 points.
FATHER: Wow! 975.
OVEN: Temperature increased to 975. (Oven smoke erupts.)
Overload-- overload...

:lmao: that one got a laugh!

Thanks for heads up. I put the name on the first page first line. Silly I didn't have that. My Disney Experience website and apps. I don't think there is one for windows phones yet.

He doesn't know, because he doesn't work there and hasn't since long before the iPad was put on the market. Presumably, they would not know the difference between two people of the same sex and approximate age standing next to each other.

I know but since he had an answer for everything on the transferring from parent to child I wanted to see him try an answer this in his Disney wants and will eliminate inter family fastpass transferring tone.

Well isn't that an interesting question. My guess is any FP+ reservations need a corresponding ticket linked to your reservation. It would be nice if I could book my FP+ with room reservation only, and then buy the actual ticket on site or later. I doubt it though, I am thinking the my Disney experience is going to be offering lots of ticket possibilities.
