FP - what if not staying on site?

It has been quite a few months since I have been on the site and am worrying a bit about my upcoming trip with a friend and her daughter. The daughter's band is playing at Disney so our trip is booked with them.........we will be staying offsite with tickets that are part of the band package..........with all I am reading about magic bands and FP+, how will fast pass work for those of us not on site? I am assuming we will still get an "old fashioned" ticket to enter the park when we arrive with the band. Help!!

You can't schedule any FP until you get in the park. You then find a kiosk or a CM with an IPad and wait in line to schedule your 3 FP+ for that day of what is available...then lather, rinse and repeat the next day

Another option...book and pay for one night at a value resort. Get your MB and you get to schedule all your FP+ 60 days out for the length of your trip. It will cost you about $100, but well worth the cost IMO to have your FP+ scheduled and not have to wait in line at a park each day to get what is left.
