FP+ vs old FP vs no FP

I am wondering if people complaining about FP+ would prefer that there was no FP at all. I remember people complaining about not being able to get more than one FP at a time, not being able to go after their time expired, and other griping because the FP lane held up standby people. I keep seeing people say they want the old way back, but was it that much better?

I haven't been yet, but will be going in a few weeks. We have set up our fast passes and lined them up according to how we think we want to do the parks.

I'm not trying to be disagreeable, I would just like to hear opinions of what people would prefer. Those who dislike it, would you prefer no FP so that you can bring back the spontaneity of your trips?

I like the current setup.

Me Too!!! Before FP+, has been a couple of years since we were able to ride TSMM. And to get Soarin' without having to go in the building, go down the stairs and then find the time not convenient, or gone, Love the new FP+. Just got back, and rode EVERYTHING in all 4 parks, (Except Stitch, but we certainly could have.) Best trip ever!!!

I'm glad to see some positives.

FlightlessDuck...how is it a false comparison? To have it or not have it. To me that sounds like a pretty good comparison.

Given those two options, I'd vastly prefer the ability to nail down a few fast passes to having to stand in line for everything.

Given the "other" choice I'm honestly torn. I liked legacy FP a lot, but my one experience with the new setup was quite positive overall, and I like the ease with which a couple of our fast passes were handled when an attraction was shut down unexpectedly.

I don't think I've seen any "haters" say they wish there was no FPs. I much prefer the old system but unfortunately I know it isn't coming back.

I think the people complaining about FP+ and those who complained about legacy FP in the "good old days" are different groups of people. So, I think it's unlikely that many FP+ critics would prefer no FP at all (although I know there are a few who feel that way).

As has been stated countless times, legacy FP is not coming back. It's also extremely unlikely that they would go back to having NO FPs at all. Especially right now when there is lots of hype and marketing for the new FP/MBs, etc.

FP+ has seen some improvements recently (especially being able to get more than three) that have made even some of the biggest critics (I count myself in that company) to at least have a bit more optimism about being able to maximize the new system.

It appears that our predictions of longer lines for HM, PotC, etc. are coming true, but with the ability to get more than 3 FPs, there's at least a hope of mitigating these longer lines. Under the original restrictions, FP+ looked pretty dire. It's still a long time until my next visit, so I'll be observing closely how things progress this summer.

I've been to the parks during the 3 choices :p, and I like the current one the best.

Having dealt with FP+, I want the old system (which will never happen). I hate the total lack of spontaneity, the being tied to a clock that you set 60 days in advance, the running across the parks because it is no longer a matter of how your day is going, the inability (when we were there and the MDE app was horribly glitchy and impossible to use) when you find you don't really need one of your FPs because the line isn't long to be able to change to somethine useful etc. We really thought FP+ hampered our trip. That said, I remember the no FP days from when I was a kid, and any FP+ is better than no FPs at all!

I will say that I do feel a little better about FP+ since they added the rolling FP, but that still doesn't solve the problem of having to book the most popular 60 days in advance or being out of luck, the fact you can't get a rolling if you use nighttime entertainment as one of your 3, and the fact that you have to go to a kiosk to do the rolling. We are on property people so it doesn't affect us, but it also doesn't solve the problem of off property people buying tickets the day they first get there etc. being so far behind everyone else on getting FPs and not getting the most popular things etc. I would much prefer it if they just let everyone get one FP+ in advance and then have the rest of FP+ just work like the old system did rolling by use and by a certain amount of time since you got the last one (or entered the park). For example, if your pre-park day one FP+ pick is a night-time show/parade FP+, then one hour after you enter the park you can get another FP+. If at 10:00 a.m., you get a FP+ that doesn't kick in until 3:00, then in 1 or 2 hours, you are allowed to go ahead and book another one, etc.

I learned to use the old FP system pretty well but it involved a lot of running around the parks. Even with all the leg work I could never get more than 3 or 4 a day. I'm looking forward to trying the new system. It's comforting to know I'm all set for at least 3 rides and should easily get a couple more.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you like about the old system.

For me, I'm looking forward to not having to send one member of the party with all the tickets racing to a ride and then having them come back and find us. Or worse yet, dragging everyone to the pass machine. Then they might be out of times or the only time was the one we had set for a dinner reservation we had already made.

I would love to have the old system back as well :sad1:. I had a Disney "nightmare" last week about going to MK for a spontaneous one day trip. I spent the first hour getting into the park, finding a kiosk and waiting in line to try to get fp's. I watched hordes of the "privelged" rush by me to Fantasyland. I knew I was sunk. I would go to Gatorland before spending a day in a park without pre planned fp's.

I can't speak for practicallyperfect, but I loved:

Being able to secure 2-3 fp's for Soarin'
The spontaneity of deciding what I wanted to ride while I was in the park
The spontaneity to change my mind about what park I wanted to go to
Shorter lines for certain attractions that now have long lines

I really really miss the old system.

During the old FP, if you went for a one day visit, how would you deal with getting your FP? What about if what you wanted was already out?

Why would you go to a kiosk? You can book your first 3 before you leave home even if not staying onsite.
