Can someone post the tiers or direct me to where i can see which rides are grouped together so I can attempt to figure this out please.

I recommend the green link in my signature. The one posted above is a little out-of-date.

I attempt to explain all parks' FPs rules in the one post.

lol my first NM was cause i didnt click the blue to expand the box... but neither thread breaks the rides down in easy to see groups... i am assuming the red/bolded were one group and all the others were the 2nd group

Yes, bolded attractions are Group 1. It is not easy to prioritize them and separate them into tiers in the same list. That's the scheme I came up with, and is explained both above and below the list.

Sorry that was the blonde showing through.

We are going last week of Oct. do you think we would be able to get FPs in the park for the other tier 1 rides? or will it be just a 1 hit wonder at epcot like and either or for the day?

We were there at the end of may/beginning of June (which is much, much busier than late October) and had no trouble riding everything with less than a 20 minute wait, even though there were no more fastpasses for the headliners.

Typically, it is difficult to get FPs for two Tier 1 attractions on the same day but there are exceptions. Most here, including me, recommend arriving at rope drop to tackle the Tier 1s that you don't have FPs for.

haven't even tried this new fp system but it really seems to limit peoples' abilities to get the most out of their vacation.

It depends on who you're talking to. For us, fp+ makes it much easier to visit the parks the way we like to. Legacy was a pain in the backside for us . Our official runner is particularly happy to see it go away.

That really wasn't our experience. We liked the old system. We like the new system.

well for non rope drop people, we are essentially limited to 1 headliner in those 2 parks. I have a child with aspergers, and we go on his pace. He is not an early riser and forcing him up and out the door at 7 am (on a vacation) to make rope drop just isnt feasible. So I will just plan on only doing Soarin at Epcot. But it also stinks that we cant fo FP+'s at more than 1 park....

Another downside to this FP+ system

If your previous style of touring was to do everything once with little to no repeating, then FP+ will be at worst neutral and at best a nice and convenient positive feature. If your previous style of touring was to do multiple headliners using FP, or repeat headliners multiple times using as many FPs as possible, then FP+ will be a rude awakening. You cannnot replicate that style of touring. You just can't. Don't believe anyone who says you can. The system was designed to curtail that style of touring and it succeeds in that regard. So there definitely are people who derive a big benefit from FP+. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. And there are people who don't see any real difference. Really. But there are also people who get constrained. Only you can determine which group you fall into.

We (my son) are the repetitive riders, space mountain as many times as he (we) can. Same with RnR. My mom and daughter are the explorers so they prolly won't be bothered by the change as much as my son who is only interested in thrill rides.

Maybe more resort time and swim time will be our answer.

And out of curiosity why would they want to curtail the repetitive style of touring??

Because every repeat ride on a headliner via FP is a ride not taken by another guest via FP. If a park only had 5000 guests in it on a given day it wouldn't matter. But with 40,000 people in a park, FPs have to be more evenly distributed. FP+ is being used by many more people so the gold is being spread more thinly. The other big reason is money. Imagine a person who has an infinite number of FPs to use during a day and did nothing but ride rides all day long from rope drop to closing. How much money does that person spend? When people are riding rides, their wallets stay shut. Disney wants people to venture out and do other things which is code speak for spend money. FP+ is designed to generate revenue.

You have to look at the capacities.

Test Track can handle 13,000 riders in a day.
Soarin can handle some 17,000 riders in a day.
Around 40,000 visitors hit up Epcot.

Clearly... there are insufficient ridings to go around such that everyone can get even a single Fast Pass. Thus, you are limited to 1.

Before, it was pretty much first-come-first serve... If you were quick, and knew the system, you could get 4 or more fast passes. But for each guest that pulled 4, 3 other guests got none. Disney would rather have 4 guests ride once than one guest ride 4 times and 3 guests not at all. Thus, you have Tiering.

I would love to be able to ride more, and look forward with eager anticipation for what they're doing with Star Wars at Epcot... but the changes they've made seem to have addressed a gaping problem that existed in FP-.

Also note that it's not as bad as it seems on paper. "despite" what everyone complains about, we still managed to ride Soarin once, and TT like 3 times in a day, even during a rather F&G week. This is because the 3 FPs that you do get, you get more efficiently, and it saves you a lot of time. So if you have to wait standby for a ride or two, you're already ahead of the game due to FP+ saving you time up front. So there are pros and cons to it.
