FP thoughts....

I made my FP's this morning. While the process went smoothly and I had no technical difficulties, it was much harder to figure out what to do than I thought it would be. :crazy2:

It's really tricky to make a best guess at what times or what lands or what rides to choose....

I have no idea if I chose wisely or not...:headache:

One question I do have....

In my party it's me, husband, 14 yr old, 12 yr old, 9 yr old. 4 of us will ride everything. The 12 yr old won't ride any thrill rides. I just went ahead and did 5 FP's for everything, even if she won't ride. Is that the best way to do it? I know we might be able to rider swap some rides (I hear some CMs will allow it even though she's tall enough, just scared). I just wasn't sure for Space (for example) - should I only FP 3 riders, then get 2 FP for something else she will ride? What if the CM doesn't let us rider swap - then one of us wouldn't be able to ride FP, right? Any insight would be great. Thanks!

As far as I understand from other people's experiences; it depends on the cast member whether they will let you do a rider swap for "does not want to ride" versus "cannot ride", but the chances are good.

I would advise making your decision according to how much time you have; if you tell me you only have half a day for one park, get as many FP as you can (split group) factoring in which groups most likely will like to ride what, hoping for rider swap ... But if you have 5 days in the parks... Don't sweat it as much... Just get a few FP for the presumed longest lines... Your kids are older - you can get rides in late at night, too, and your group can move fast to an attraction at rope drop.

If one wanted to be really picky, you could pull up the disney website and show the CM that it says you can use rider swap if they do not want to ride just as if they are not tall enough.

I agree that it's tricky to know which are the best rides to choose for FP+ on any given day. I'm still wondering if I picked the "right" ones, and trying to strategize when I will ride the ones for which I don't have a FP. Anyway, my son does not like thrill rides and my daughter wants to try them. For those rides, I just got a FP for DD and either myself or DH, and got a FP for my son and the other parent at the same time for a different ride. I don't really like splitting up like that, but it's just for a couple of rides and I want both DD and DS to ride what they enjoy.

Thanks! We do have 5 days in the park, so maybe I'll leave it as the same 5 FP's. It was much harder choosing rides AND times than I thought it would be. I'm also hoping since it's Labor Day week, that will help out with lines not being as long...

I just did the same FP for us across the board. Just seemed easier. We are traveling with a 14, 12, 6 and 2 (who has no FP, obviously) but I know the 6 y/o isn't going to want ToT or some of the other bigger rides. I may regret that later, but it just seemed too hard at the time.

I'm curious to see how the Labor Day crowds will be. With summer being lighter, I am wondering if it means Labor Day will be more crowded than usual!

That's how I felt with breaking up the FP's - it was already hard and to then make 2 sets - ugh.

Don't say such things about Labor Day crowds!! :headache: I'm really, really hoping for nice, low crowds!!! :D
