FP/ Rider swap confusion

I think I understand the FP & CS basics, but is there anything to cover the kid that is tall enough but chickens out at the last minute? If we decide to go summer 2016, my youngest will be 7. We've had some experiences at Six Flags where he is nervous but follows through and rides, other times he thinks he wants to do it until it's time to climb on the ride and he changes his mind. I'm hoping another year and a half of maturity will take care of it, but will they LET me just stay at the front of the line with the little one and then swap with my husband when he gets back with big kids? Even if that's not really how CS is supposed to work?

Depends on the ride and how tall. If they're boderline height a cm may just let you get a swap. Often don't check if very close. And depending on the ride, there are some where they can arrange a swap at the ride if its a last second chicken out. But probably not something to count on.

Ok, thanks for the reply. It doesn't sound like CS will work for us because he'll be 48"+ by then. Our general theme park strategy is to get in line for everything together and hope for best. The Universal system as described in this thread would be the type that helps in our situation.

I was just curious as to what rides had rider swap. Is there an accurate list somewhere?
I have found web pages from Disney all the way to here with a total of 4-14 (in mk)
One had small world, really?? Small world has rider swap, doesn't seem right to me

If your child is tall enough to ride then the WDW "swap" works just like the Universal swap. Everyone gets in line together and if the younger child decides not to ride he can either take the chicken exit and wait for you in the gift shop (probably not ideal at 7 !) Or one adult and the child exit and then the adult can re -enter through the exit and ride. Just make sure the CM loading knows your request.

In cases where the child isn't eligible to ride they use the paper RS pass because the child can't enter the line at all.

The website is confusing but in practice Rider Swap is only available at rides where there is a height restriction and you have a child who doesn't meet them. By this I mean the Rider Swap pass that is issued to allow the 2nd parent and 2 others to ride that attraction after the first party rides.

As described above there is also the chicken exit and in cases where a young child meets the height restriction but chooses not to ride you can switch at the exit.
If you have an unusual situation its best to ask the CM or guest services if there is an alternative to suit your needs.

(nevermind original first comment, I re-read that)

If you make FP+ for DH and both older kids, they can ride the first ride and you get a pass to come back later with the older kids. Now if you make a FP+ for ONLY YOU for another ride, if the baby goes on with you there will be no swap pass. If you walk up, go without the older kids and hand him the baby it's iffy... cm's are not stupid so they can and may ask DH to also scan his FP+ to get the rider swap. They definitely aren't going to the let older two go on both rides twice because they only had a FP+ for one. At the second ride they could ONLY ride with the second adult who came back with the pass. The version you asked at first, it is important to note that you can't ride Splash Mountain with the baby and collect a swap pass for your DH to come later- I couldn't tell if that was what you meant. Occasionally at busier rides they do ask the non-riding parent to scan their FP+ when they are concerned about abuse but it is unusual.
