In Hydroguy's tips he says the following:
Currently, once the entrance media have been scanned at either DL or DCA, they are initialized for both parks. This allows a runner to get FPs for the group at the opposite park even though no one in the group (except the runner of course) has entered that park.
 Is this still true? I hope so! Whoo Hoo!!! We're going to Disneyland!!! :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: party:

One more question: Hydroguy writes
5. When you get a FP, at the bottom it will clearly show the next time you can get a FP for another attraction. PAY ATTENTION TO THESE TIMES! I will call these the "next available FP time". To maximize FP acquisition and usage, you need to always keep in mind the next time you can get another FP, and then do so as soon as it is practical after that time.

If I get a FP for Indy at 1 PM and the return time is 9:45 PM, am I not allowed to get another FP for Indy even though 2 hours have passsed between the time that I last got a FP? (Like at 3 PM?) :confused3 This happened to me twice last year during the Holidays and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get another FP for the same attraction even though the 2 hour window had passed. I am anal about this, I double checked the time I got the first FP and then went back slightly pass the 2 hour time limit and it wouldn't give me another FP for Indy. I thought maybe my timing was off, so I went back a few minutes later and the same thing happened.:headache: I was able to get another FP for a different ride, but not for Indy. :sad1: On other rides in which the return time had passed I was able to get another FP and hold them all at the same time. Is it because the machine still thinks I have an outstanding FP for the attraction and knows that the return time hasn't passed? On all the different boards I participate in, I have yet to see this particular issue addressed.
Thanks!:yay:

Yes. Once all all in your party have "initialized the entrance media" (at EITHER DLR park), a runner can be sent to the OTHER park for a FP pickup.

For example: Everyone walks into DL & your family begins taking pics on Main St. You can reverse back to DCA with all the tics & pick up FP tickets for Soarin & Griz then back over to DL to meet back up with family on Main St.

Read HydroGuy's "how to use FP during high season thread" for examples on how he employed this strategy....very cool.

Also, I believe you are correct. If the Indy FP that you've picked up at 1pm says 9pm, you can pick up SM or any other FP in DL at 3pm BUT you can't pick up an Indy FP till 9pm. Another reason to tour & begin your FP collection EARLY when the FP windows are not so spread out.

Have fun. :thumbsup2

I didn't know this either thanks for the information.

Yes, I did it in June.

You know, this is one thing I have never been sure about but I suspected was true. Freak's experience confirms that it is in fact true. It is yet another good reason to start collecting your FPs early in the morning, especially for the big three SM/Indy/Splash and Soarin over at DCA.

Could it also be that there might not have been FPs left for Indy? If the come-back time is almost 10 pm, when getting the FP at 1pm, 2 hours later couldn't they simply all be gone?

:teacher: That makes alot of sense, bumbershoot. :)

I hope others post their thoughts on this. If HydroGuy isn't 100% sure, how the heck are the rest of us supposed to know for sure?? :rotfl:

Either way, if you pick up a FP with a 9 hour window, you better have a handful of FPs already in your pocket, because gathering FPs (& touring) is gonna be challenging that day. (if you don't already have a handful of FPs in your pocket) :)

Not in this instance because others were able to get FPs, and I went back about an hour after my 2 hour return time and they still had FPs available but I couldn't get one. Shortly after this, there were no more FPS available.
When the FPs are sold out you will know it because they close down the line. and the FP return time sign that posts what time the FPs are available for is left blank. It was very frustrating seeing everyone else able to get one and not being able to get another for myself. :confused3 Of course by the time my FP w/9PM return would be good to use, they were sold out of FPs. That's what I get for sleeping in and not doing Disney commando style! (I had a relaxing trip, but got to go on less rides.)

Aha! More info = good. :)

We went this past July, and after everyone had entered DL, I ran across to CA and got FPs for everyone:thumbsup2 no problems at all.

 Don't forget you can always get FP for Roger Rabbit in Toontown and Grizzly River Run in CA at any time. They are not connected to the FP systems and so I would pick up those early in the day along with the other FPs we were getting.
