FP+ "Problems" - I Just Don't Get It

The FP+ system is no better nor worse than any system that's come before it. It's new. It's a change. It's something to learn and get used to.

I am going to WDW this weekend for my first trip since magic bands and FP+ came into being and I'm excited to get into the change and see how it will ultimately be of benefit.

So...If I am mis-quoting you I apologize, but if you have not used it how can you say it is no better nor worse than the previous system?

Personally...I was excited for it...and though it seemed like a great idea...for me it was not..

Right, I should have said that OBJECTIVELY and ABSOLUTELY it is no better or worse. That's not to say that people won't have opinions! Such as yours, as you say FOR YOU it's not a great idea. Fair enough. But again, my point was, that WHENEVER there is any kind of change there are those for whom it works and those for whom it doesn't but for the vast majority - and I truly believe this - if they would just open their minds and be a little less upset about *change* it would all come out in the wash. And that is *my* opinion!
:)

I'm late to the post and haven't read through it all. But I wondered how many days you're going for? And what day does your trip start on? I went on on my 60 day mark, at 12:01, we were going for 7 days (5 park days) and I tried doff my last day and couldn't get 7dmt or A&E. I'm going sat to sat. So that part sucked. But you're right it's easy and other than that I got what I wanted for the times I wanted. Oh and I don't have park hopper so I could only look at our mk days.

Opening my mind will not allow me to get FPs for TT and Soarin on the same day any longer. Nor will it allow us to ride our favorite headliner a second time by FP.

Well...lets agree to disagree then...and you are free to have you opinion

IMO - I think it is more about experience than opening their minds for the most part...many of these "Negative Nellies" (I've seen than bandied about quite a bit) are people that go multiple times a year...they have experienced it as it evolved...were probably demanding MB and FP+ during the testing phase...and not are not happy with how it worked out.

Sure if you are going on your first trip...and are planning everything for months it probably is great...as long as you pay attention to all the advice from Disney emails or have a good travel agent.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't pay attention to the emails they are busy working and don;t look at the DIS ..and a lot of people had bad travel agents...and they are going to show up and get their gray MB at the resort and have no FP+ at all...and if they have 75% FP+ usage (according to that article someone posted) that that means there are 25% that are not...and of I;d guess a large group of them are very unhappy campers

I've even run into people that have the deluxe Dining plan and no meal reservations..and are only eating at CS because they had a bad travel agent...so i can only imagine that FP+ is even less likely to get dealt with by people like that.

Anyway it's all pure conjecture and discussion....to really see how it all plays out will be at least another year IMO

But you can get one for Captain EO..and other rides you didn't want a FP for..and they will give it to you even though you don't want it..

I've been assured that if I just think positive thoughts, all that is the wonder of FP+ will open up before me.

I remember when Disney was first starting to talk about My Magic - wasn't one of the goals ride redistribution? They wanted to up the ridership of second tier rides. So longer lines at rides where lines didn't exist before - sounds like they have met that particular goal.

For me as a planner that was able to maximize legacy FP, there's a lot not to like especially since things are changing so constantly with how Disney is handling FP+ that you can no longer say at 9am, the standby line at x ride will be about x minutes.

On the other hand, there are some positives to FP +. I have not yet decided which system I prefer. Given time, we will figure out the best way to take advantage of the new system.

This is one of the good things about the legacy system IMO....it worked for planners..and non planners alike....

If they could create a system that worked for both it would go a long way in changing my opinion of the system, and I'd guess a lot of others.

I think I would be labeled "negative" in this thread. But I am very objective about my rationale that FP+ is much worse.

Here are the changes that affected my family:

* Requires an advance plan by day for each park, rather than maximum use of parkhopping as we have before
* Requires jump at midnight to get FP+ on the exact right days to get popular attractions
* Less flexibility with tiers and only one of each ride per day (4th is of little value once we've gotten to see the choices)
* Access is not equal... my annual pass used to mean I was a little bit of a VIP at WDW. Now I have less priority than a resort guest and same as any offsite guest.
* Ability to change during the day is of little value since headliners are all booked by mid morning. If we get to a scheduled time and it turns out the wait is short the the FP+ is wasted or rescheduled to something of little value/desire (and probably has an even shorter wait)
* User interface is clunky and hard to use (better than it used to be, but still not great) and user interface is even worse on mobile devices
* New systems have glitched on me 3 times in 4 visits requiring hours of time on phone and at guest services

Disney has a long way to go to make me feel good about this system.

I can only go by us. We liked legacy from the beginning and dislike FP+. It's really that simple for us.

I understand that others feel differently and that's fine. However change is amazing but it isn't that way simply because it's a change.

People have been talking about FP+ for 18 months. It has been analyzed and discussed up one side and down the other. So don't say you stirred the pot to get people talking. People have been talking about this subject for a long time.
Jana, Jana, Jana......

So what? I wasn't interested in the discussion then. I am now. If you don't think the discussion is warranted any more, if you don't want to be part of it, what are you doing in this thread? Nobody forced you to click on 'yet another useless FP+ discussion.'

It's not as if there weren't multiple active threads having the exact same discussion when you started this one. But I guess nobody forced you to look first.

I just stopped by for the enlightening Thesoorus and Dictinaary exercise....

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said it was yet another useless FP+ discussion.

There are plenty of current threads you could have posted in, but you chose to start a thread deliberately antagonizing people and not being the least bit apologetic about it.

I beg you...don't take the bait.
