FP+ observation

Last night around 6, we went to it's a small world. 40 minute wait. ***! I walked over to the kiosk and got a FP for it for 5 minutes away. Given it was so late, I cannot imagine that people were all still waiting to use their 3 selections. Do most people just not use FP+? Do people like lines? We only wait in a line at pooh or dumbo cause that's fun.

We had the same experience in June. Posted SB at Buzz was 25-30 minutes, and we got our FP at the kiosk for 7:35 return time at 7:29. By the time we parked the stroller, we were able to walk right in. I was wondering why nobody else was getting FPs, but I certainly wasn't going to complain. We've seen that happen numerous times with our 4th (and more) FPs. The super-quick return times are always fun to get, especially when SB is long.

It could be that they have not used their 3 FPs or that they don't know about the 4th FP.

Unless you go to the kiosk for your fourth FP, there is no way to even know what times are available or if any times are available. Isn't that the way it works?

We never got a fourth FP because there was always a 20 minute+ wait at the kiosks last time we went.

I didn't wait in a long SB like that, but I didn't look for a 4th FP because whenever I passed the kiosks during the day, there were long lines - it discoraged me from bothering to go find one later. Also, *after* you got yours, you know how the times worked out. . . Before going to the kiosk, you wouldn't have been able to know it and it's not worth the trouble to everyone. Is there a kiosk near small world?

I wonder how many people in those SB lines are even aware of FP+ to begin with. According to the Disney Suits about 50% of people are using FP+. Also according to a poster on a different thread, he was asked by another guest about FP+ and how much it cost. This was a recent trip.

Just back in between Peter Pan and philharmagic. And yes, there was a line for the FP kiosks that looked really daunting - probably 40 people. But that had a lot of groups, and there are loads of kiosks so we were through in 5 minutes. I also checked the Fp line before I went and saw one bored attendant so I figured the odds were pretty good :cool1:

I do wish there were more kiosks around the park though, or God forbid, let you do it on your device.

You also have to take into account that posted wait times are not reliable. In my case (a couple of weeks ago) proved being way off i some cases. Was there a really long line? Because IASW should move pretty quick.

My guess is most are not aware of a 4th or 5th etc FP+.

Or perhaps they hadn't used up their first their FP selections yet? We often had one later in the day such as 7DMT that we had no choice for the time, and thus, couldn't get another one at the kiosk.

in addition to people who are ignorant of how FP+ works, there are people who schedule their FPs for later. That could include people who make their reservations for their second park of the day (like us) and people who have FPs for Wishes or MSEP. Also, a lot of guests are already holding their 4th+ FP for something else and are not eligible to get another one at that time.

Who in their right minds would wait 40 minutes to ride IASW?

Maybe someone with kids who is on their first visit to WDW and has IASW as one of their priority attractions. I think people who visit frequently often forget that an infrequent visitor is going to have more tolerance for waiting in a line to see something they have never seen before than someone who has done the attraction multiple times in the past.

Personally, I don't understand how people in their right minds would wait 2 hours or more for a picture with a character, but people do it. Different strokes.

Was there a parade (or Wishes - it has FP+ viewing, right?) that night? If their 3rd FP+ is for the parade, they wouldn't be able to get a 4th one yet.

We were there in September and were able to get a lot of fastpasses, especially at MK. Even when the kiosk lines were long, they moved pretty quickly. But we had similar experiences. One that sticks out was when there was a long posted SB wait for space mountain and we went and got fp for just a few minutes later. Personally (I know this isn't a common opinion) I'm glad you have to go to the kiosks for 4+ FPs and can't use the app because if everybody could use the app I think the number of available FPs would go waaaaaay down. Just my personal opinion

Well, I did just last Saturday night. But it was totally worth it.

Did I mention it was the holiday version at DLR? :teeth:

Hopefully you didn't get stuck on it for an hour like my daughter and I did on our last visit 8 years ago.
