FP+ now 3+ what say you?

What is your new opinion

  • Still hate FP+, wish we had FP- still

  • Still love FP+, this just makes it better

  • Hated FP+, this has changed my mind and I am on board

  • This only makes things worse, not enough rides!

  • Doesn't really matter to me likely use less than 3 FP+ anyways

I know on the poll they had for guests, they also had an option of a rolling FP, as you used one you could get another, so if you wanted you could always have three. This would enable you to book the Fireworks while still picking up more FP's during the day as you used your others. That would be more what I would like, but they probably realized that would be harder to work.

While I think this is an improvement to 3 FP's a day, I hate having to book my rides two months in advance and know where I want to be each day and at what time. That's not going to change.

I chose the answer that most closely hits my opinion...but it's not really an accurate reflection. I chose "Hated, now on board".

Not really true, though.

I was on the fence. This makes it better. Not perfect, but better.

This is me too. The ability to get more than 3 is great but there are still things about FP+ I hate.

They took a step in the right direction with one foot and in the wrong direction with the other. So they've basically done nothing... yet.

Here's why I say that...

I'm a techy guy so the one thing I do like about FP+ is the idea that it is digital, I can do it from my home, from my car, from the plane, from the park, etc. etc. The potential to get more FP+ is definitely a step in the right direction in that it makes it much more like the 'old way' that I preferred but also provides the potential for a better experience.

Then they had to ruin all of that by saying we would get these extra FP+ at a kiosk. Hopefully that was just an exec misspeak.

We make rope drop and stay till park closing so we have open to close to ride what we want when we want. Not to mention we hit the parks in early Dec while it is slow season.

Not everyone can go during value season. We used to, and it is now no longer possible for a few years.

There is a HUGE difference between a crowd level of 1-2 (first full week in Dec. when we didn't use FP- either, even the Speedway was a walk on) and going during summer or holidays.

Nope and my kids have been going since they were 5 months old and doing the open to close thing from the start.

Same here - my kids rocked a 8am - 1215am day just a few weeks ago...and were MAD when I said it was time to leave b/c I was tired. Rope drop to park close is the way we roll!

The kiosk aspect of this really stinks!

The poll results here certainly aren't showing an overwhelmingly positive view of FP+.

We have been in may and Oct and Aug and still did the parks this way. we prefer Dec though.

That is the only way we do the parks. after we get back we go for a swim then have a snack then bed to start again the next day. We are up and eating breakfast by 6AM.

That would help, but I think you should be able to pre-book one, and then roll it as you use each one, or as, or within a certain number of hours after, the park opens- similar to FP-. For example, if you use your 1 on MSEP which does not occur until night, then when the park opens at 9:00 a.m. you can book a new FP at that time. You then, must wait either 1 or 2 hours, or until you have used that FP to get your next one, just like the old days. This would prevent the system from being flooded at the outset and causing problems like it is doing now. It would go back to some people taking advantage of it throughout the day and others ignoring it. You should also be able to do it from MDE, not at a kiosk, although I'm guessing the problem with that is it would overload the MDE system at park opening if everyone was trying to book a FP+ at once. MDE barely worked at all when we were in the parks as it is.

Their new changes are absolutely worthless. You aren't going to get more than 3 that have any purpose whatsover. First their announcement was that you don't get a 4th until you have used all three of yours. If you have 1 for nighttime entertainment, then you will never be allowed a 4th. Even if you have your 3 set up back to back in the mornings, the chances of anything that you need a FP for being left over by the time you have used all 3 are slim to none.

The problem is that where previously everyone used FP- at their own pace- with some not bothering with it, some just pulling 1 a day, and those which pulled several- now basically Disney pushes every resort guest to book three 60 days before setting foot in the park, and now offsite to do the same 30 days in advance. Disney has taken a system that some people used and some people did not- or that everyone used at a different pace, and pushed and marketed it into a system that virtually all on site resort guests now use which now overloads the system and causes the issues reported from the parks. Resort Guests are E-mailed and reminded over and over to set those FP+. As such, instead of everyone starting out with no FPs on a park day, some pulling none at all and other pulling 1 at a time with everyone's choices spread out among their priorities. Disney has funnelled all on site guests into a system where the vast majority now overload the system because everyone, even people who normally didn't really use FP, now are booking 3 in advance. Plus, WDW has increased the number of FP per day it is allowing on per ride. so that both the FP and standby lines are longer because more FP are pushing through the lines. They basically had to do this to deal with the capacity of the system issue as they are now basically pushing every single resort guest to pre-book. As a result, offsite guests are now practically compelled to utilize FP+ whether they normally used it or not, because without it the lines are ridiculous. Where you used to have people utilizing FP- in a variety of ways that balanced out the system- now everyone is pushed to use it which basically floods it and causes the problems which are currently being seen in the parks. The new system has the balance totally off. WDW's announced changes aren't going to do anything to remotely help the problem.

I like this idea however I believe that you should be able to book the extra FP on the app. Otherwise you might as well as stand in the standby line for the ride as the kiosks are going to be busy.

I selected 'really doesn't matter to me likely use less than 3 FP+' though we'll use all 3 but don't really need more and it's not likely that you'll be able to get anything good once you've used your 3 pre-booked ones. I think this new FP+ change is useless. I am fine with 3 FP+ at AK, HS and Epcot but would love to have 4 or 5 at MK...and don't like the tiers. But we'll just do like we've always done and go close to RD and ride as much as we can w/out FP+ and book the 3 FP+ for later in the day...and utilize EMH.

So you're getting like 4 hours of sleep a night, with kids? Sounds fun.

Not to judge, but you keeping your babies and toddlers up until 10/11 PM closing and having them back up and out door for rope rope the next AM???? That would NOT be a vacation in my book. More like a nightmare. My kids have been going since 3 months old, but we would never still be in teh parks at 11 PM with them and expect them at rope drop the next day. Almost is cruel.

The kids love our touring style always have. When they were younger they slept in the stroller and napped in the parks. My kids are all like me night owls and morning people I sleep 3 hours a night on average and my kids all try to do the same. During school they all have set bed times but even my 6 year old will still be awake at 11PM laying in bed.

See, this I must dispute. That might be true for some people, but for Disboarders, the people in the know, I think we will know where to find the kiosks without lines. And we will share on here. For example the kiosk at Muppets in DHS never had a line.

And I believe once they get enough capability on the ap, it will move to the ap. Why go to all the bother of wi-fi and going digital if you still are gonna hire tons of personnel to help? It doesn't make financial sense.

I for one would love if FP couldn't be booked in advance but just the day of. But they don't have enough ap power to make that happen right now. But I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the future. Or a lesser window. Or fewer FP+ allowed at the 60 day window. They want to be able to anticipate where we all will while making our visit better while we are there and reducing staffing needs. In it's current state, mm+ is only accomplishing one of those goals: anticipating where we will be. But they have to have MORE staff and our trips are worse. So I believe it will continue to change until the majority of customers are satisfied and the personnel needed at kiosks is reduced.

Choices are love or hate basically.

I still *like* FP+. It has problems, I'm not crazy about the 60 day reservation window. I fear it'll become just like ADR's in that if you don't book far in advance, you won't get anything good.

BUT the system worked well for us, we were able to move around FPs pretty easily ( when the internet worked ) and never had problems checking in our FPs. The only big problem we had was the limit on number of FPs and park hopping, that was a REAL pain for us as we stay for long periods and like to park hop. So for us, this is great.
