Just returned from a 7 day trip to WDW. Have to say, maybe I've been in the dark, but I consider myself pretty well educated on all things Disney. The new FP+ system is certainly misnamed. In my opinion, it should be FP-. We did not know that in Epcot & HS the fast passes are tiered. You cannot get a FP for Soarin & Test Track, for example. In HS, you cannot get a FP for TSM & RnR. It's bad enough that guests are limited to 3 FP per day. Early risers & hard workers are punished by this new system. We used to accumulate far more than 3 per day because we were wise & arrived early. And we certainly could get whatever FP we wanted-none of this business about not being able to get FP for more than one headliner attraction. Total BS. Yes, I understand the reasoning but it still makes no sense to me. More like Socialism if you ask me-evening everything out. We stayed offsite for the first time in 9 trips so I was unable to book FP online before our trip. So we had the joy of waiting in line to wait in line to book our FP upon arrival at each park. The lines are long. We were educated before going and skipped the first kiosk we saw & moved on to one with a lesser line. But while you're waiting & reserving, you're missing out on valuable am ride time, especially on crowded days.

I am not a fan of this new system & after going every year since 2006 I must say this last trip pushed me over the edge. I need a break from Disney. Gasp! Never thought I'd say that. We ran into the rudest CM in Pecos Bill's at lunchtime who had ropes around the dining room & you could not get in unless your entire party was there. So they were crowding up the ordering area by forcing families to stay together. My DH went to the restroom & when my kids & I tried to get a table, with a tray full of food, he refused to let us in since my DH was not with us. My food was getting cold, the kids were starving & I was getting upset. Another CM noticed what was going on & let us in. I asked the original rude guy if he was going to let my DH in since he would obviously have no food with him when he tried to enter the dining room. He had the nerve to say-if he doesn't have food he's not getting in. Like it's prison! I went straight to the manager & voiced my complaint.

But this trip was just one headache after another-from FP lunacy to rude CM's, terrible service at Be Our Guest, it's time for a break. Disney is losing one very loyal customer who has spent thousands upon thousands on our vacations there. Something has changed. I felt very controlled this trip, less in charge of ourselves. I don't know how else to explain it. I never thought the day would come that I'd have a bad trip report & claim I need a break, but today is the day.

So sorry you had those rough spots. I'm a little nervous about my trip next week. Good thing its an adult trip, so I'm not trying to get on every ride. The CM at Pecos Bills is what's the most disappointing to me.

The seating thing at CS locations has been effect during crowded times for quite a few years now (probably three, I'm guessing) so unless the CM actually said rude things to you, I think he was probably just trying to do his job. That is the policy they follow during crowded times, maybe you just never saw it in effect before.

As for FP+, feel free to commiserate on one of the 10 other thread saying the same. I haven't used it yet, so I'm trying to stay positive and adapt.

Sorry you had a bad time OP. I can imagine it must be very frustrating having some of the FP+ "features" sprung on you in the parks when you didn't know about them in advance. I also said when we were there earlier this month that I felt bad for all the offsite guests that are forced to wait in the kiosk lines to make their FP+ times. We saw many very long lines for that. Likely that won't be the case in the future, but it does suck that you had to deal with it before it improves.

Then it would be your responsibility to not open threads about FP, not other people's responsibility not to post. There are plenty of other places for you to post as well.

So annoying seeing people trying to be the DIS police every time someone posts anything that isn't glowing about FP+.

Geez, I was not being the police. Please don't assign your own interpretation to my statements. I could care less if there are 300 posts about FP. I was trying to let the OP know there were many similar threads she could look at to see the same sentiment. Specifically because they said they weren't aware of any of the stuff with FP.

But what happened to the OP is NOT what is supposed to happen when they are regulating table use at the CS restaurants. The OP already had her full tray of food. According to policy, she should have been allowed to get her table. The CM was wrong. Period. And I'm glad to see that she voiced her complaint to the manager. Hopefully the offending CM was given an attitude adjustment.

As for the OPs comments regarding FP: since she actually HAS used it, she has every right to comment wherever and whenever she wishes. And you have the right to simply not respond, if you don't like it.

Yes Minnie mum, you are right on the food thing. I read too hast and skimmed the fact that she had her food already. I apologize. As for the other, see my response above.

Well, you learn something every day. That "mess" at Pecos Bill's would have had me furious. And it usually takes a lot to get me truly angry. We've eaten so many lunches there, and even when it's been busy (not wall to wall people, but busy) no one ever told me I couldn't go on into one of the dining areas and wait for DH. I found it's a real nuisance to stand with him in line while he orders and gets our food. I'm only in someone's way.
So I tell him where I'm headed and go sit down and wait for him. I've never even seen a CM controlling traffic into the dining areas.
Good grief.
Gets crazier and crazier.
:confused3

The reason they do that at crowded times is so people can get a seat once they have food. All too often, people are sitting and taking up a table but not yet eating...it just makes traffic flow better (although I agree it's a pain to all wait in line, especially with kiddos). What happened to the OP is silly though...since she had food, there should not have been a problem.

I have to say I welcome NEW threads on subjects-esp from those with first hand RECENT experience who want to share. Some of these posts are crazy long. That's my pet peeve about this site as well as many others I follow. I am not about to sit there and scroll through 15 pages of chatter.
So thank you OP :)

I also want to say that you are not at all in the minority by not knowing anything about how the FP+ works. Once the busy season hits full blast they are going to have a deluge of complaints from those who thought they were coming into the old system. Board members have to realize that their fanatic love of Disney is not shared by the general population. People do *like* it as a fun place to take their kids every couple years but they aren't going to seek out boards to research it.

The title of my post is what I'm really the most frustrated about. Disney touts Fast Pass PLUS like we're getting more out of the new FP system now. Guests are getting LESS, FAR LESS. They've taken away, not enhanced, not added. So why on earth do they think they can fool us with a positive sounding name when they've actually diminished what we can do? That I cannot get a FP for 2of our favorite rides at the same park is ridiculous. If I was willing to get to the parks early enough to secure my old FP to ensure my family could ride everything we wanted without a significant wait, then yay for me. But now that ability is gone. I felt completely controlled this trip. In my experience Disney was always about yes, now it feels restricting, like it's coming from a place of no. As if we adults are little kids and we need more rules.

The Pecos Bill CM was an older gentleman & his attitude, words & actions were disgusting. In front of my children he told me he wasn't going to let my husband through the ropes if he didn't have food. He truly wanted me to wait there with my tray full of food until my DH was done in the men's room. Craziness. It felt like I was being policed every move we made. I love Disney so much but I was so disappointed & deflated after this trip.

I vote rename it Fast Pass Minus!

Our family completely agrees with you. The new system and name is a joke.
We are getting far less and we to are completely frustrated with it.
We are done, no more Disney, they won't get our business anymore.
They are not addressing the need for more attractions to meet increased demand, instead they are limiting what you get so everybody gets their ration.
Ridiculous. They will lose repeat customers and those numbers will continue to rise. The first timers will continue to come but veterans are too smart to be fooled into this nonsense.
They have lots of money for expanding the DVC projects but very little going toward park and ride expansion.
Lots of fine places in the world to visit without people dictating your every move.

I felt very controlled this trip, less in charge of ourselves. I don't know how else to explain it. I never thought the day would come that I'd have a bad trip report & claim I need a break, but today is the day.

Welcome to the new Disney Theme Park Experience -- Magic Their Way*.

It does seem somewhat surprising that the OP was prepared enough to know to bypass the first kiosk

:confused3 Where did she tell anyone not to post, or indicate she doesn't want to read FP threads? I'm tired of posters being accused of being the DIS police overall, but especially when the accusers are inferring intent that just doesn't exist.

Related to kiosk issues. On another thread poster that went to wdw said has cm's available with I pads to help with FP+ reservation. Took almost no time they said. Said 8 cm's just ready to help. May want to look for these when others go. Sorry OP did not know about this before they went. Just found out myself today.

Great to have first world problems.:)

Anyone know where these CM's are located? :)

I've seen multiple photos of them standing around FP kiosks waiting for someone to help. Easywdw had photos on his blog a few weeks ago at a number of locations.

Couldn't agree with you more GoofyKidd! We always got way over 3 legacy fp's per day as well and were at the parks from rope drop til close. It saddens me to say that I will be taking a long break from disney until they fix this mess and will be go to Universal! At least I can get on rides there!

We have not had a good experience since FP+ started. We are locals and are there usually every other weekend. Rides that have always had low wait times now have 30+ minute waits. On busy weekends in MK we get to ride maybe 4 rides. We love Disney, but it is expensive and not a great value anymore.
I would also vote for it to be called FP -!
