Fp minus

The reason I was unaware of the tiering was because in January, I called WDW to confirm what was going on with FP. I was told that when we came for our trip that the legacy system would still be used at 2 parks-I can't remember which at this point. So I felt a little relieved that our experience at all of the parks wouldn't be hindered. A few days before we left I saw a post on DIS that said all of the legacy FP machines were gone. I called again & was told that was indeed correct. No mention of tiering. I did not even question it because the thought of something so insane never even entered my mind. Keep in mind, we were staying offsite, so booking FP on line was not an option. Had I been able to do that, I guess it would have been crystal clear that there was a tiering system in place. At my request, the CM I spoke with went one by one through each location of the FP kiosks. I jotted them down & brought the list with us to the parks so I knew where we were headed so we weren't wandering around aimlessly, wasting ride time. Unfortunately I threw away the list the last day in the parks. If you call or go on disneyparks.com & do a live chat they will tell you each location. My advice is to avoid the first kiosk you see because that's where most people go-such as the tip board in Epcot. If you head left or right there are more kiosks with less of a line. In MK we used one right thru the Adventureland entrance.

I'm so sad about all this because I now sound like an angry poster. Getting to Disney each year has always been a top priority but that's changed for me-something I never thought would happen. I told the kids we're taking a break from Disney. Maybe next winter will be a relaxing beach getaway.

You shouldn't feel bad. All you did was share information about your trip. You did not attack anyone and you did not say anything inappropriate.

I am glad that you shared your experiences with the new system. When someone shares what worked or did not work on their trip, it often can be helpful to the rest of us to prepare for our upcoming trips. Although, with all the reviews I have heard thus far I am worried that no matter how much planning we do, it may not make much difference.

This is a forum to discuss all things Disney. If you have had a bad experience at Disney, you have every right to be frustrated and share it here. If I had gone through what you went through, I also would be sharing it on the DIS.

I really do not understand why some posters feel the need to question or critique someones personal experiences. It really makes no sense and is bound to cause frustration.

I could not agree more! I have a trip planned for May and, no, I have not experienced FP+ yet. :scared1: However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand, after 22 trips, that the limitations of tiers, the limit of 3 FPs, being denied the ability to get 2 FPs for a favorite ride, and FPs for only one park, are going to significantly affect my experience and the way I've enjoyed DW for over 24 years....:rolleyes1

Yes, yes yes on each and every point.

Each time I think, no way, that this can get worse...it does.

You still have the option to do stand-by. ;). You can ride it again! You just have to wait.

And wait, and wait and wait AND wait.... ;)

But in fairness, it's true that waiting in those standby lines does not cost extra (at least not yet). And back in the days of tickets (which I did experience), you paid to ride and still had to wait in the line. But it's also true that there are MANY more people in those lines now than there were back then. And the lines took a long time even back then, so...

I know it stinks but you can ride a ride twice. I suppose if waiting in a line isn't an option for you then no. I guess you can't ride a ride twice.

It's a - now to some though b/c before we didn't have to wait and wait and wait for that 2nd ride.

Thank you. In the past I've always worn rose colored glasses when it came to WDW. But this new "advance" drastically diminished our experience in each park this trip. Enough so that I've said I need a break-that's something beyond shocking to me & everyone who knows me. Disney crossed the line in my opinion...and gave it a cute little, deceiving name in the process. We all post here and read DIS to learn & get our Disney fix until that next trip. Unfortunately some of the things we learn aren't so pleasant. Like it or not, Disney makes changes that are unpopular with people. In this case it's unpopular for a variety of reasons with a group of people who are used to touring a particular way. I can only hope they're listening. Thanks for allowing me to have a place to vent.

It does seem somewhat surprising that the OP was prepared enough to know to bypass the first kiosk but not aware of the tiering.

:confused3 Where did she tell anyone not to post, or indicate she doesn't want to read FP threads? I'm tired of posters being accused of being the DIS police overall, but especially when the accusers are inferring intent that just doesn't exist.

Exactly!!!!

I appreciate reading everyone's post on the Dis, good and bad. Some people just like to argue. If you say red they say green. If you say green they say red. My family has had the same experience as you at Peco Bills. I totally get what you are saying and how that made you feel. It was an awful experience for my family, in my opinion, the CM was rude and it was on purpose. I hope that things calm down soon and all the kinks get fixed.

My family of eight did not renew our AP's and for the first time ever, have zero plans to go back anytime soon. :( I will continue to watch daily and hope to see more and more positive experiences.

I do think Disney has prematurely released FP/magic bands. It just wasn't ready. Maybe they needed to do more testing fazes in smaller groups. It is also irritating to me to raise the prices in the middle of a "test" faze when so many people are having issues. I also understand the argument, hey if people are willing to pay then why not. For us, we are not willing to pay at this current time.

The last trip we took we noticed it was a lot of first timers that do not reside in the US. A lot of them we spoke too were glad they tried Disney, but had zero plans on coming back. I was surrounded by loads of negativity. Not something I am used to at the Happiest Place on Earth. At some point in time you will run out of first timers. Here is to hoping the pixy dust is sprinkled all around the world and things are fixed in a flash.

I didn't say that you couldn't wait. We personally don't wait for anything longer than 20-30 minutes. It's frustrating to me that you can't get 2 FP's for the same ride. I would ride Soarin twice and not ride Test Track if that was an option.

We skip mornings at WDW, sleep in, arrive later. We now make FP+ for our arrival time or afternoon and stay late. If we have any 2am-3am closes, we stay so we can walk on rides :)
